I have to :

Introduce my new boyfriend
(spunky robot courtesy of pinksnowflakes)
Say thanks for all your support of THAW in the last post - man you guys blow me away !

Tell you that Vic of Punky and me - is the winner of Rocket and he will be heading off to live with her really soon.
Share with you Miss Ric-Rac was suitably embarrassed about it all .....so I have yet to show her this .........

and tell you that the disco bot pattern is finally done and listed.
Can I also just whisper quietly that I am stuffed ! My brain has turned to blancmange and I wish I could sleep for a week. My kids are fully doing my head in and I am snappy and snippy and in need of a good slap myself.
Christmas is looming like some turgid bubbling quicksand and the Grinch is ringing and asking me for anti-festivity tips.......
School is like some crazed asylum where they are definitely not handing out enough feel-good pills and the calendar is filling up way too quickly.
I am off to a 50th birthday party tonight and I just want you to know that should the four horsemen of the Apocalypse interrupt my sleep-in tomorrow I shall get out of bed (sans foundation garments) and I shall grab the nearest weapon (quite possible an outdoor chair) and I shall quietly and calmly beat them to death.
(but I am not a monster, I would spare the horses)

Never enough time.....

I seem to be in the enviable position of having some "spare" time on my hands......
All the things I wanted to prepare for the market on the weekend are done. Everything is priced, tagged and packed.

So for today at least it is back to the robot pattern......

Must be those 32 hour days I now have.....

Bus stop -Thursday

On Thursday, Small-bot and Cat-Bot got up very early. Small-Bot sang songs while he dried the dishes.

Bus stop -Wednesday

On Wednesday, the girl at the bus stop smiled at Small-bot.
So Small-bot smiled right back.

With Bells On

I have been chained....literally chained to this computer since Friday.
At Loooong last I put my pattern-writing head on (ugly technical beast that it is) and have been working on two new patterns.

(Yes I know all you elephant lovers have been very patient)

I also got word that I will be having a stall at Daylesford Makers Market on Saturday November 28th. How excitement is that ???

I know its a long way off but we'd love to see you there.....

In fact, we'd ALL love to see you there.

In the frontal lobe

Thinking about elephants again , I got out the gloves (this time) and dyed some gorgeous Doctors flannel to just the right shade of pachyderm grey.

I worked some more on a toy-ish kind of robot. Each different colour fabric represents a different version of the same part so this is a conglomeration of attempts 1,2,3,4,and 5 !!!

I put the book and the fabric in the same spot, and given my dislike of sensible(actual clothes type) sewing that in itself is a pretty good start!

and just so you know, if I were a girl turtle I would so fall in love with this guy.
His name is Ernst and he has that slightly heavy-hearted, wistful little man-turtle thing going on ....and (I'm just saying) its working for me...

in a girl-turtle kind of way of course

In progress....

It starts with the little kernel of an idea, half-formed but persistent

and if you are lucky to have some time

and the right materials to hand

someone might just slowly take form and rise from the scraps and rubble.

The week that wasn't

This week I have been sick, sick in ways I never knew I could be. It has been a looooong week but strangely also a short one. I have slept that crazy fevered-dream sleep all week on and off through the days and nights and now I have surfaced (albeit briefly ) to find the whole week is gone, consigned to history and I missed it ! Ooops.

This is cat-bot, made a few weeks ago and somehow only just getting his turn in the blog-light.

He has a small internal wire skeleton to keep him upright,so he's really not a toy. I made him because I seem to be slightly obsessed with robots and with putting hard elements and fabric together at the moment.

He has a little workable knitting needle axle.

and he is adored !
