Finn and the tradies

Here I am at home on a not-usually-at-home day.
The NBN has arrived. The street is a sea of men in high-visibilty clothing and the sounds of TRADIO (that bizarre radio channel that all tradesmen seem to listen to) is filling the air.

Our house, being of advanced age, has no crawl space under the older front section, causing a small headache for the NBN fellows. Yesterday they solved it with a bit of "we'll just cut through the path, and your fence into your back yard, then we'll dig up some of this garden and these pavers but don't worry we'll leave it all looking exactly how it is now."

Now you can call me a sceptic but the chances of things looking the same after the NBN chappies leave is pretty slim in my books, and it might surprise you to learn I am not that keen on having my fence cut though, nor my garden and I'd rather my pavers stayed paved. My protests and alternative solutions fell on extremely deaf ears.

This is the NBN and it will happen and "no you don't need to be home madam, yes we might have to remove a complete section of your very sturdy very high fence for the day Madam but that shouldn't be a problem - we do this all the time"

"Why do you have such a high and sturdy fence Madam ?"

Makeover

 Baxter circa 2011

I am teaching a kids class in Ballan on April 9th so I thought I'd rustle up a new version of Baxter the Hedgehog. I was hoping for some fur in the rainbow sparkle family and was surprised that my local superstore didn't have anything quite tacky enough. So Baxter went all winter-white instead.

I have bucket loads of teaching coming up, both locally and not-locally. If you want to join in, you can check out my classes page. I am going to teach in Ballan, Gisborne, Tasmania, Warracknabeal, Sydney, Melbourne, back to Warracknabeal (and how does New Zealand sound?)
I had to get a yearly planner to keep track of myself, but now I have to remember to coordinate it with the diary in my hand bag and the calendar inside the pantry.
(this from a woman who can't remember where she parked the car when she leaves the supermarket)

and Finn, who has no calendar and no diary and no idea of today , tomorrow or handbags says Hi.
(Arse-sniffing notwithstanding- the whole dog thing sometimes appears to have a lot going for it).

Really Robbered

There is so much to tell you , AQM, Pop-up shop, Tuesdays Rotates x 4… too much so I will start with the newest.

Last night someone came into our house and robbered us while we were asleep. They took my handbag and Mr Ric Rac’s wallet. The iPad, the camera , all the stuff sitting nearby wasn’t touched. I’m guessing they were hoping for cash.

So… it’s annoying and we spent a lot of time on the phone to the banks etc. this morning. As the day wore on, I kept thinking about other things like my sunglasses, my purse full of receipts, my very attractive work badge, my actual wallet and I got a bit crankier with each new hassle.

and then it dawned on me….. They stole my handbag !!!  I’m going to have to make a new one. Do they think I have time for that ? How rude. I think it might just be time to buy a handbag like normal people do.

I believe someone is a little embarrassed.

Today

I heard a strange noise,
and had to battle with the scary black thing. The scary black thing was very tough, but I wrestled it and I chased it and I dragged it through all the flowers...until I won.

I didn't even know I was so brave.
