Really Robbered

There is so much to tell you , AQM, Pop-up shop, Tuesdays Rotates x 4… too much so I will start with the newest.

Last night someone came into our house and robbered us while we were asleep. They took my handbag and Mr Ric Rac’s wallet. The iPad, the camera , all the stuff sitting nearby wasn’t touched. I’m guessing they were hoping for cash.

So… it’s annoying and we spent a lot of time on the phone to the banks etc. this morning. As the day wore on, I kept thinking about other things like my sunglasses, my purse full of receipts, my very attractive work badge, my actual wallet and I got a bit crankier with each new hassle.

and then it dawned on me….. They stole my handbag !!!  I’m going to have to make a new one. Do they think I have time for that ? How rude. I think it might just be time to buy a handbag like normal people do.

I believe someone is a little embarrassed.

  2. How b...y rude!...some people just have no manners...and someone should be embarrassed, um, Finn you are the dog, you are supposed to chase away the bad guys! Seriously glad they did no more than snatch and run though.

  3. Oh bollocks :( It's a horrid feeling isn't it? We were robbed a couple of years ago (they smashed our front window at 4am) and they took my laptop and Matt's wallet. Partly our fault as we left them in full view of the window but.... I hope they catch them!

  4. That's so scary and annoying all rolled into one. Many years ago someone robbed us too and all they took was my underwear. Ew. I hope they are caught Jodie, that's just terrible to have lost everything in your bag.

  7. Oh Jodie, I'm so fricken pissed for you.
What a disgusting thing to have to deal with.
I hope your stuff finds its way back to you.
Oh and you so need a miniature poodle. x

  8. Okay, Finn...you're fired! damn, it that doesn't just suck! so glad they didn't take the ipad and expensive camera. small blessing. i think Finn should be grounded until he agrees to start behaving like a night patrol dog.

  9. Yuck. How horrible. Friends of ours with 4 and 6 year old children woke to people in their house one night. Said male friend proceeded to be a (very naked) vigilante...he ended up with some grazes in interesting places from stumbling over on the asphalt but no citizens' arrest.

    Scary stuff.

And if it is any consolation, our Staffy would be doing a friendly meet and greet with any middle of the night visitors too, especially if they gave her a pat.

  10. that's awful! losing all that personal stuff, and the thought of them in your house, just horrible.

Your dog has some serious making up to do.

You dont' have any old handbags to use?

  11. We were robbed once, not while at home, they fobbed our dog off with stuffed toys!

  12. same thing happened to me two years ago... they took my computer and my handbag... left the big slr camera next to my computer (I'm not complaining)... weird.

the hassle was huge and the feeling of violation even more. Some stranger in my house!!!

  13. The cheeky buggers, glad you weren't hurt though

  14. Wow, how cheeky! I'm glad you weren't hurt, but yeah, what a pain to have to replace everything.

  15. How awful for you Jodie! When it happened to us (but daylight hours and we were out) our dog wasn't a deterrent either...

  16. Nasty, annoying stuff. Glad to hear that you're all OK, and that the thief was so selective at least!

  17. Poor you. You are sounding so calm about it - I would be beside myself. It's the thought that somebody has been wandering around while you are upstairs asleep more than what they've taken. Thank goodness they didn't hurt anybody (including the dog) though so I suppose you have to be grateful for that - after all it's only 'things'. I've got 3 dogs and they are all 'barkers' so we would definitely be alerted although that might not always be a good thing. On the plus side - what a perfect excuse for buying a new handbag!

  18. Oh Jodie that's totally rubbish! I'm so sorry :o( Lucy xx

  19. Jodie, this is horrible and I don't know how I'd feel if it was me. We lock ourselves in at night, so if anyone came out here, they'd have to make a racket to get our stuff.
An earlier poster is right, a poodle is the most possessive creature in the world. As my dad, he'll tell you. If he wasn't in the bedroom at night before the dog, the poodle wouldn't let him in - bared teeth and all!
If it's any consolation, and I know it's not, it was druggies. They can't be stuffed with stealing your stuff, they are after folding.
I hope they had a rubbish trip and that they were as sick as dogs afterwards. Good luck in getting your stuff back, but I fear that it is probably in a bin down the mall by now.

  20. Take care to reinforce your security now. When l lived in Sydney the first gang robbed you of what they wanted then sold your details eg address, what you had to steal n how to get in SO another group of scumbags could rip you off a second time....but only after you had time to replace stuff on your insurance claim!
Very annoying but real glad they didn't take your sewing machine, iPad n camera....or rag rug!

  21. Wow, how awful. I don't know that I would feel safe anymore. Upgrade security and teach the dog to bark and growl maybe! Yep, or get a poodle, noisy things. Hope they don't come back cos they think its easy pickings. Did they get your house keys?So pleased no one was hurt.

  22. That is awful Jodie. Do you think they left your handbag somewhere nearby thrown into a bush or something. I had my handbag stolen once and didnt even realise. I had to go to the police station and then do all that pain in the butt stuff too. I hope you have fun making a new bag for yourself, and maybe buy an alarm or starve the dog so he eats them on the way in.

  23. You poor love, what a horrible thing to happen, so sad to be a drug addict. But you are safe.

  24. Finn must be a very sound sleeper or else he was tricked with a bone. Definitely a violation of privacy and sense of security. Glad everyone is unharmed. Go play in your stash of polka dots.

  25. Jodie, that's terrible news! Horrible horrible horrible

  26. How dreadful, Jodie. I am so glad and that you and your family are safe.

  27. That is really crappy! I'd have serious words with that pooch!

  28. Finn you have let the pack down badly and what a nuisance.

  29. Some people have no sense of decency - fancy stealing your handbag when you have no time to make a new one!!! How awful for you though. Hmm me thinks the Guard Dog might need some new training??

    ReplyDelete
  30. Oh, *****! I had my purse stolen once and it was not a fun experience. I hope it was a true stranger and not someone your dog kent. It is odd that the electronics weren't touched, but maybe that's what the guard dog was guarding?

    ReplyDelete
  31. Bugger! So glad you are safe. Could it have been someone you know, if they knew where to find your things and the dog didn't bark? I shall be doubly mindful when locking up at night. xx

  32. OMG that's so scary!
They're going to have really really bad karma.

  33. That's pretty unnerving to have someone rob you while you're asleep. If they were after cash you wonder why they just don't take the cash and leave the bag and wallet behind. I do hope they get caught and that your bag and Mr Ric Rac's wallet are returned.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I hope they get caught, very very soon.

  35. Oh Jodie, I just saw this. It makes me shudder with indignation, and disgust on your behalf. I hope you are not too shaken up and that some of you stuff might be recovered. I been burgulared three times and felt really violated- and I wasn't even asleep in the house. take care xx

  36. Oh no! That's really terrible! :(
I hope the thieves get caught, and your things are returned.

    ReplyDelete
  37. What a terrible thing to happen, it must have really shaken you up :(

Hope they catch the horrible person that did this.

  38. OMG, someone in your house while you sleep is a terrifying thought. AS for Finn, shame shame shame.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh no! Sorry to hear this!

    ReplyDelete
  40. As someone who has been robbed a couple of times ... you have permission to feel violated and to miss your things and go through all 7 stages of grief for your loss.
However I suggest being thankful that you stayed asleep and did not disturb them, that you and your family are safe and that you have only lost things. You may want to move to a point eventually where you wonder how terrible a life someone must have to feel entitled to rob you - where they not loved and nurtured as a child or did they rebel from that love and choose a path that breaks their mothers heart. Hope you find the time to make yourself a beautiful new bag that you love even more and that the insurance company is quick and generous in sorting out your claim.

  41. Oh NO!!!!!!! I hope you had the stuff saved from your IPad! Grr that makes me mad! To the person that broke it - Get a job and earn money rather that steal it! Hope things get better soon!

  42. Thats really awful. I'm so sorry. Such a horrible feeling isn't it?

  43. Yes, our dog would probably roll over for a tummy scratch in this situation. How awful, though, and sorry to hear you had to go through it...
