A day at the Office....

When I was a kid, I wished I was a zoo-keeper.

Yesterday I went on an excursion with work and a part of me wondered (ever so briefly) if I had another career change in me at this grand old age.

I don't !
Funnily enough today when we went through the photos, I had about 120 of animals and one flower. Someone else seemed to have hundreds of flowers with the occasionally animal leg in the way !

  1. Master 8 is going to have a fit when he sees the top photo!! It's a great day out isn't it. I went last year with all the grade 2's and had a ball.

  7. The Mr and I often have a work-related 'Zoo' or 'animal' job on. As a result our kids have become a veritable database for animal facts and figures and we have three zookeepers in waiting. Latest favourite fact: Did you know a baby koala eats its mother’s poo at birth? (great for sorting the bacteria/digestion thing. Apparently).

Can't believe I just left a koala poo comment on your blog - my apologies!

  8. Gorgeous photos..I love the Zebra. I also wanted to be a zoo keeper when I was a child...and a marine biologist, police woman, historian - the list is endless. What am I now...live in cleaner, cooker and nappy changer. Lovely

  11. Now I wonder who took all those flower photos ;o) As for the career change - don't do it! You'd be too tired and stinky by the end of the day to dream up beautiful designs for us - then again you may start evolving new animal patterns to go with your monkeys and elephants so maybe it's a good idea after all!

  13. Surely working in a primary school library is a lot like being a zoo keeper a lot of the time! Love the photos - especially the giraffe and the meerkats.

  16. Hahaha -- I was going to comment and ask if you'd seen Annie's post -- it appeared right before yours in my reader and your titles cracked me up. "A day at the zoo" and "A day at the office"....for some of us they are the same place all the time.

  17. Beautiful photos, my favourite is the zebra bums- they are so brave I would never wear horizontal stripes on my bum. As a kid I wanted to wear librarian clothes, not be a librarian, just wear the clothes, and I wanted to be a vet not a great combination. I am neither a vet nor do I wear a smart little two piece suit.

  21. When I was a kid I loved the idea of being a zoo keeper too. So in 1983 I trotted off to do my work experience at the Melbourne Zoo. It was fascinating and exhilarating. And oh my giddy aunt ... bloody hard work! So I went off and became a teacher instead :)

    Love your photos.

  22. I always wanted to be a zoo keeper too (secretly still do). Then I had kids and now I have my own zoo. Sometimes I think I prefer the zoo animals to my own teenage ferals.... but then I see them asleep at night and some mothering instinct takes over and... well, the zoo keeper thing remains a dream. LOL

  27. Love the snaps ... I still have an inkling to be a wild life photographer but I think I have left my run to late. Perhaps we could go into business together you could be the zoo keeper and I could be the photographer LOL.
