Hi My name is Jodie and I am a novelty sewer .

I am unwilling to commit to projects that take longer than two days to at least "look finished"


I do not understand projects that involve more ironing than sewing


I do not like projects that require special equipment


I do not like having to remove special equipment (see above) from sewing machine every time I give up on the "big" project to tackle something do-able.


I do get bored with the same fabric after about 3 hrs.


I do not understand chopping up about 300 m of fabric to sew it back together into something only 2m in size.


I hate basting


I hate pinning


I hate exactness

I embrace the wonky

I hate enormous things that require rearranging my house just so I can lay them out to look at them.


I hate that no-one told me that just winging it is not actually a bona-fide quilting term....because it is a totally STUPID thing to do.

Yeh, so the quilt is coming along nicely, thanks for asking. No it doesn't take much time. Just a few minutes here and there. Yes I have only done one third, yes I haven't even laid out the other two. Yes I am sure I know what I am doing, so what if I have never done the quilt- as-you-go thingo before. Oh no, it's no problem to just make up a pattern, I really enjoy a challenge, Oh yes that's right, I will get so much enjoyment and self fulfillment when this is finished...........I mean ...I will....won't I? You know just like childbirth.....you never remember the pain afterwards.

It always ends in tears.

Jodie!!! Hurry up. Bring your digit camera. ..............Yes we are all cleaned now and the texta is nearly gone except on Fletcher's knees cause he used black and it kinda went in his knee wrinkles but it's OK except I have green still in my ear but it's just a little bit.

Hey Jodie , Do you want to see our show? It's really good. There is a chair for you to watch on. We are having a acrobat show ...Jodie, yes we are not being silly and getting washed.

Two steps forward.........

Noodles anyone?

For ages I have been keeping a few little wire noodle-box handles with the aim of creating a fabric box for them. This was easy easy. I had a cardboard noodle box here so I just chopped it up to become the pattern. I used some hammer- in eyelets on the sides for the handles.



It kinda falls into the cute but useless category- or at least I haven't thought of a use for it yet. To give it structure I used wadding (batting) as well as a firm iron-on interfacing. I carefully ironed the interfacing to the batting rather than the fabric (less wrinkles that way).

I have also been spending a little quality time with Mr Gocco and made some teeny tiny designs on fabric. It is still a bit of a hit-and-miss affair but I think I am slowly getting the hang of it.

I have also started my first ever real sized quilt. How do you people make quilts.... it takes for bloody ever!!! I might still be doing this one when I am ninety !!! I didn't want to do anything complicated so just decided to wing it and make it up as I went along. (what was I thinking) .

If today was anything to go by it is a good thing I have the men-in-white-coats on speed-dial.

Let's play Pirates!!!

When the call went out this morning for some dress-ups to play pirates, I thought Great!

I love to play Pirates.....the deserted island, the frocks, the moonlight, the red wine , Mr Depp.

Ooops ! Wrong Pirate game Jodie!!!!

This one involved a trip to the local park to see the cannons.

The boys had a great (noisy ) time and this is my attempt at "just one nice photo please boys..with no silly faces" and what do I get? Fletcher doing bunny ears.

Apparently this pirate game involves Fletcher lurking in the bushes,

Toby hiding behind rocks

and Oliver picking flowers for the girl pirates "'cause if you give flowers to the girl pirates they think you love them and then after that when you make them be in love to you then you can have all their gold and money"

Oliver + Fletcher + Toby = trouble

So after all day at the pool, I let the boys strip off in the garden.

With an icypole each I figure I have time to run the bath while they are occupied.

I haven't been gone 2 minutes when they are peeking over the next door fence

and swinging on the clothesline !!!!

Morning, (just).

Ok, so this is the new bag I finished yesterday with the intention of it being my new regular handbag but I am not so sure. It seems a bit big and the I am just not 100% happy with it but I adore the fabric ! I might just have to carry it around for a few days and get used to it.

I love those green fabrics, I bought them on Friday when I really went to buy some Latte homespun and handbag magnets....They are so fresh and crisp - Some are from the new Prints Charming range. I have ideas that they will become a green and white quilt but in truth they will probably turn into dolls clothes and other little bits and pieces. I want to make a real-life quilt , I do , I just have commitment issues.

My house is about to be overrun by two little boys.......Toby and Fletcher! Wish me luck

shhhh, its a little giveaway

This is what I did in 2007.

I am not sure what 2008 will bring in my craft world. I have ideas (and doubts) but I'll keep you posted.

Arriving very very late to the party, I have just signed up and organised bloglines, seriously!!! What was I thinking, checking all my favourite (over 80) blogs every day.........it took so long. Now I just check in and read the blogs of people who have updated. I can't believe I didn't do this months ago. It also means I have added more new blogs to my ever growing list.

I have been having a bit of sewing time - I popped over to Flower garden the other day to make bags. Annie's daughter and our other craft friend Sue was there, we each made a bag.

It's not hard to guess which is mine is it?

I am determined not too keep everything stored in the sewing room this year so this little bag is up for grabs. Just leave a comment today and I'll pop back this evening or in the morning and choose a winner at random.
