Keep your knickers on!!!

So this will not be winning any design awards but as it comes together it really is becoming Granny's quilt.

The sashing is actually cream and has a very small tonal pattern of leaves. I had to snap these pics this morning before work and it had been folded up all night so please forgive the rather crumpled look.

Yes that photo above shows my amazing styling techniques - I sticky taped the quilt to the cupboard doors - How in the world do you take decent photos of a quilt? let me know because tomorrow I'll have to get some pics of the quilt top
FINISHED!!!!!!!

  3. Looks great Jodie! I have to take my pic's on the washing line since finshed quilts are so big and clumsy. Good luck

  8. It'll win the 'granny is well pleased' award, and those kinds of awards are rather spesh, I think.

  12. well I think it looks great! I still have not finished a single quilt...well except a doll one I made years ago, but a real big person quilt? nope not yet. Zoe's in STILL in the works, and at this point I am not sure it will ever be finished1 Great job...can't wait to see it all quilted!

  13. I hang mine on the clothesline, because I am a woman of no class.

Husbands hiding behind the quilt and holding it up tend to do OK too.

  14. PS. Great quilt! That's what I actually meant to say.

  17. I really love it - perhaps Annie can get an award - if the quilt doesn't win any of its own ... which I think it might ;-)

  18. What do you mean "no awards"??? This quilt is going to be gorgeous! It has that English-cottage-look to it :-) Very granny-like! I am sure she will love it so much....anyone would! So stop making excuses for it, and be proud of it! It is beautiful!

  19. Oh my word Jodie - just catching up and you have been soooo busy!! I love your Gocco'ing and would happily rehome any 'duds' - probably a bit late tho'!!

Your Granny's quilt is so beautiful and a prefect present for someone who's seen so many birthdays!! Although the skydiving sounded good too...

Great job on the butt kicking Annie!

Does she have a sister in the northern hemisphere who could give me a good slapping - I still have the red and turquoise quilt to finish!

  20. Gorgeous quilt and at the same time lots of flowers, which grannies are reputed to love. She's going to be exceedingly chuffed methinks.

    Well done you!

  26. brilliant! you did such a beautiful job. not that i've ever made a big quilt or anything, but i have wondered before about photographing a larger scale project like that- please share any tips you get!

i have seen people photograph them clipped to a clothesline in the back yard?

  28. Whoo-hoo, you go, girl! I love it, and what a very cool concept, to cut ordinary nine patch blocks into something much more interesting. Now for the quilting! I hung my finished quilt over my cutting table to photograph.

  29. A finished quilt top is always cause for celebration in our house! That looks great. I would pick the same exact fabric, too. For a good quilt photo I lay it over a chair facing a window, so it gets lot of natural light!

  30. Looks fantastic Jodie! No advice for how to take decent pictures of a quilt, but the way I get the job done is to lay the quilt out on the dining room floor, then stand on the dining table and take the photo :P

  31. Try the clothes line or put it on the floor and stand on a chair. Failing that "artfully" drape it over something. You need natural light too. Its very pretty.

  32. I love the fabric you chose for this quilt! I hang mine on the clothes line to take pictures.

  34. Great quilt and good idea for hanging. We have an overhead trellis in the backyard and I use pant hangers and then hook the hook part on to the trellis.

  35. your quilt is lovely. I find it hard to photograph quilts, too. you'd think I'd be better at it by now...
