So this will not be winning any design awards but as it comes together it really is becoming Granny's quilt.
The sashing is actually cream and has a very small tonal pattern of leaves. I had to snap these pics this morning before work and it had been folded up all night so please forgive the rather crumpled look.
Yes that photo above shows my amazing styling techniques - I sticky taped the quilt to the cupboard doors - How in the world do you take decent photos of a quilt? let me know because tomorrow I'll have to get some pics of the quilt top
FINISHED!!!!!!!
Double WOW ... WOW!
ReplyDeleteWell Done Jodie!! We knew you could do it!! Cathyxx
ReplyDeleteLooking good Jodie. I have those same doors!
ReplyDeleteLooks great Jodie! I have to take my pic's on the washing line since finshed quilts are so big and clumsy. Good luck
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the block format - one large and three small squares. Nice!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the finished photo. :)
well, I think it looks great!
ReplyDeleteooooh it's beautiful...I love a bit of pink floral!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt Jodie! Love the sticky tape technique!
ReplyDeleteI cant' believe how quickly that has come together. Looks great.
ReplyDeleteIt'll win the 'granny is well pleased' award, and those kinds of awards are rather spesh, I think.
ReplyDeleteYou're such a bloody fast worker. I need Annie to come and crack the whip at me for a bit1
You've done a great job! I think that the sticky tape definately serves a purpose!!! Can't wait to see it FINISHED~!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! That's fab! See how considerate I've been today - waiting until the first 11 spots were taken ;o)
ReplyDeleteCrumbs! That Annie cracks a mean whip! Lovely work and loving the layout, not so sure about the hanging technique. Think the 'experts' may have a word to say!
ReplyDeletewell I think it looks great! I still have not finished a single quilt...well except a doll one I made years ago, but a real big person quilt? nope not yet. Zoe's in STILL in the works, and at this point I am not sure it will ever be finished1 Great job...can't wait to see it all quilted!
ReplyDeleteI hang mine on the clothesline, because I am a woman of no class.
ReplyDeleteHusbands hiding behind the quilt and holding it up tend to do OK too.
WOW
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful
PS. Great quilt! That's what I actually meant to say.
ReplyDeleteLooking good!
ReplyDeleteWOW! You did such a great job on it. I love the way you put big and small squares in the same box. Great job.

Wow!!You are a quilt maker!! It looks so lovely and will make such a wonderful present. I take my quilt photos hanging on the washing line too-but if the wind blows at a certain moment your photo is stuffed! You and Annie are such a good team.
ReplyDeleteI really love it - perhaps Annie can get an award - if the quilt doesn't win any of its own ... which I think it might ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean "no awards"??? This quilt is going to be gorgeous! It has that English-cottage-look to it :-) Very granny-like! I am sure she will love it so much....anyone would! So stop making excuses for it, and be proud of it! It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOh my word Jodie - just catching up and you have been soooo busy!! I love your Gocco'ing and would happily rehome any 'duds' - probably a bit late tho'!!
ReplyDeleteYour Granny's quilt is so beautiful and a prefect present for someone who's seen so many birthdays!! Although the skydiving sounded good too...
Great job on the butt kicking Annie!
Does she have a sister in the northern hemisphere who could give me a good slapping - I still have the red and turquoise quilt to finish!
xxxx
Gorgeous quilt and at the same time lots of flowers, which grannies are reputed to love. She's going to be exceedingly chuffed methinks.
ReplyDeleteWell done you!
Everything about it says soft and comfy. Its very sweet.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few people use skirt hangers on each end of the quilt. I'm going to give that a try this week from our picture rail.
ReplyDeletecongrats. I'm sure your centegenarian will be please!
OMG you have done your first quilt top.........Congrats........looks fantastic......now your a quilter............lol.......
ReplyDeleteOh, it looks wonderful. Beautiful colours!
ReplyDeleteWOW it looks great i love the colours.
ReplyDeleteHugs Mart.
brilliant! you did such a beautiful job. not that i've ever made a big quilt or anything, but i have wondered before about photographing a larger scale project like that- please share any tips you get!
ReplyDeletei have seen people photograph them clipped to a clothesline in the back yard?
Jodie - you are a legend!! It looks beautiful! I love everything about it! Good on Annie too for getting you cracking!
ReplyDeleteWhoo-hoo, you go, girl! I love it, and what a very cool concept, to cut ordinary nine patch blocks into something much more interesting. Now for the quilting! I hung my finished quilt over my cutting table to photograph.
ReplyDeleteA finished quilt top is always cause for celebration in our house! That looks great. I would pick the same exact fabric, too. For a good quilt photo I lay it over a chair facing a window, so it gets lot of natural light!
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic Jodie! No advice for how to take decent pictures of a quilt, but the way I get the job done is to lay the quilt out on the dining room floor, then stand on the dining table and take the photo :P
ReplyDeleteTry the clothes line or put it on the floor and stand on a chair. Failing that "artfully" drape it over something. You need natural light too. Its very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric you chose for this quilt! I hang mine on the clothes line to take pictures.

Great Work Jodie! You are so talented on so many levels! Selvedge in the mail today - sorry for being slack - let me know when it turns up please!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilt and good idea for hanging. We have an overhead trellis in the backyard and I use pant hangers and then hook the hook part on to the trellis.
ReplyDeleteyour quilt is lovely. I find it hard to photograph quilts, too. you'd think I'd be better at it by now...
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!! You did a great job!!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day!
Sherry
