This has to be my biggest avoiding pattern writing procrastination project ever.In breaking news, I have been thinking of making a rag rug. Yes, it was a surprise to me as well, perhaps I need to back away from my inner Nanna a little ?
but this one from Moda Bakeshop really makes me want to give it a shot.

With all this time up your sleeve you know you have to - procrastinate while making rag rugs because you know the patterns will happen at the last minute regardless...did I just say that out loud.
I reckon it looks like a great way to avid moving rooms.

The idea of moving it anywhere...shit. That would be enough to have me catatonic, at minimum.
Also just love that rag rug. Was given discarded fabric on the weekend that tonight will be cut into 1.5' pieces to become just this. Brilliant.
This is not an avoidance technique but rather a "use up ALL those scraps and pieces of material that are sitting on the floor so I don't have to store them" project, that will allow you to have a nice rug on the floor and less fabric to put away thereby allowing you to get to the pattern writing quicker. HMMMMMM! wonder if this would work for me.

Why can't you use both rooms? My mum is using all her (4!) spare rooms for her stuff.
I think the rug would help with the red carpet. Especially if you do it like the bake-shop one with bits of red in it. I wonder if you could make a rug using selvedges?
So you're procrastinating by writing a blog post about procrastinating by thinking about making a rug so you can procrastinate about moving the room that your moving so that you can procrastinate about pattern writing? Is that right? Wouldn't it be far less effort to just write the pattern?
By the way, I really, really like the tree and the quote. Did your daughter do that, or did you?
I say "jump Right In" but my husband HATES my rag rug and on its completion said something along the lines of "that is going in our house over my dead body!" I do believe there were also words about not living through the Great Depression, and about not being a Nanna ;) That craft room is looking good - I LOVE the wall with the tree!
The nana rug sounds like a great idea so I say jump right in. Good luck with sorting out your craft room too, you will love it when you finish!

what will you do to avoid finishing the rag rug?
I made a rather largrge rag rug and in all honesty, it was one of the most time consuming things i ever made. All that cutting out strips, all that sewing together the strips (i was really using rags....well old cushion covers and curtains etc), sll the ironing the edges over (like adouble fold bias tape), all tthe rolling into balls, all that plaiting, all the bloody untangling and then finally the back breaking sewing all the plaited strip together while flat on the floor. And while I love my rag rug, I also want a brownie badge for it or something!!!!
So am I going to be the only person that says

Rag Rug, rag rug, rag rug, yeah! I have had one on the go for quite a while, I love it...might be good to get some instructions!
If the Precious one is leaving, I suggest colonising both rooms. In which case you may first want to make a flag of the Empress Jodie for both rooms. In which case you have half the stuff to move!
As for the rag rug...jump in with caution. Your inner Nanna might grab you and pull you under if you're not careful. Or make a rude rag rug. That'll teach 'er!
