When will I learn?

So, that last smug little comment on my blog ? yep ! You guessed it ! The weekend fell apart after that. We had to take our dog Ruben to the after-hours five million dollar vet yesterday and today he is back there having a "procedure".

Even though he was in heaps of pain yesterday with a massively swollen mouth abscess, which exploded and had him dribbling blood - he had the time of his life in the back of the Ute , cocker spaniel ears flapping in the breeze, tail wagging and sloppy, blood drool flying everywhere. Who cares if we thought he was knocking on deaths door - he was having the time of his crazy life! He is going to be fine, but somewhat disappointed because I have to pick him up in the regular car this afternoon.

In unrelated news, I decided a while ago that I wouldn't be doing a market stall this year, the whole whooping cough thing really slowed me down, and there is no way I can generate enough "stuff" for a stall. But I figured I can just have a mini market on Etsy instead. All the bits and bobs I have made throughout the year that get popped into the 'market tub' will be popped on Etsy instead.
I'm not going to do a huge update, I'll just add things as I go and as I finish things.
Today I'll be adding some gocco panels and a message-bot or two and maybe a zipper mouth monster.
There will be elephants and robots and I have no idea what else by the end of the month.

So there you go a bit of shop talk , a bit of dog talk and someone who should learn to keep her blog mouth shut!

  1. Your etsy mini market sounds ace! Will you be linking? Love your doggie, we have a black cocker too, he is a big boof head/lover boy & potential ute admirer. Hope you are having a happy Monday xo

  2. Poor Ruben, and poor you. I've had plenty of after hours vet trips with BigCat the boof head. Costs a bloody fortune!

Hope all returns to complete boring normality real soon.

  3. Hugs for Ruben, sympathies for you..! Miss Martha's just finished her gold encrusted (you'd think so for the price) tablets and is thankful that I can now stop shoving my fist down her throat whilst shouting 'swallow the bl***dy thing' then giving pats and assurances of 'good girl', 'good dog'..!! She's totally confused...

  12. Poor Ruben, so glad he is going to be OK. Its so true that if you say things are going really well you mozz yourself. I was running around boasting that I went through all winter without catch a cold so now I have a horrid one.You take care and I will check out your etsy store.

  15. Been there, done that! And yes, it is crap!
I swear that Steve Austin came back as our cat. He even moves in slow motion.
He is the 64 million dollar puddy. We spent so much time at the vet last year the vet staff gave him a nick name and sent us a Xmas card.

  17. Oh poor puppy and your poor wallet.

I'm feeling a bit the same about the market thing. Ive been happy with my returns but its all consuming leading up to each one. I think I'm going to stick on line too and do the odd local charity event, that type of thing. Don't want to burn out either. Take care. xx

  18. Bugger.... poor Ruben, that sounds exruciatingly painful. I can just see him in the back of the ute though, I have this vision of one of those cartoon dogs, ears flapping, with those huge pilot goggles on. Hehehe.

My cat Jessie had an ulcer thingy on her paw a while back. I'd noticed her being 'icky' for a few days, then one morning when she came out from her basket her paw looked all weird, bulgy, and I thought it was broken.

She wouldn't let me near it, so I went to work (had kids doing stuff at school assembly so had to be there), back home to get her in my hour of preparation time I get on Monday mornings, off to the vet, back to school, back to the vet after school for the damage!!

So one squeezed paw (lots of pus apparently), cutting and clean up, long lasting antibiotic shot, and $90 later, home we went. (I thought the cost was very reasonable actually). I go to Eureka Clinic in Creswick Rd, not sure which one you go to?

They keep us on our toes don't they!

And, your market bits and pieces look divine, great idea to put them on Etsy. Those owls are freaking marvellous!! I LOVE them!

  21. Aw poor doggy! Poor you!!

    Love the tag.

Etsy market. Hope it works. I need to do something along these lines. My in person selling didn't go too well.

  22. What if you made a puppy series of softies & patterns with a icon saying "all proceeds go to Ruben's vet's children's private school fees"?? That's pretty much how our vet works, we could just direct deposit to the nearest most expensive school in Canberra. Love Posie

  23. Poor Ruben. That face. Those eyes. Gotta love something that despite all the crap thinks a ride in a ute is the highlight of existence. I had to take my little dog Gus to the vet to have a couple of teeth out earlier this year; he still loves me and I am trying not to think of how much fabric the vet's bill would have bought... Hope you have a less crap week now, Jod

  24. Poor doggy! Hope he's feeling better very soon. I've yet to see a dog not get excited about a car ride!

Oh Etsy, how you taunt me!

  25. Sending Rueben a million kisses! Love the sound of an etsy mini market!

  26. He had me at woof.

I hope his gob gets better.

If you're selling a Gocco'ed Shirley Temple with a potty mouth then I'm buying.

  27. I'm sure he did feel much better after his abscess burst everywhere....oooooh yuck! I bet that was fun to clean up!! He would have loved the ride in the back of the ute tho!!

Your sweet little girl sums it up perfectly LOVE her!!

Hope the week gets better :-)

I'll buy a potty mouth girl too!

  28. Glad to hear Rueben's on the mend. I'll have to pop over and see what's on offer.

  31. Well a face like that must be worthy of the 5 million dollar vet (been there done that.) Glad he's on the mend and can't wait to see your mini market! :) (LOVE the sweet little girl saying "CRAP!") haha!

  32. Oh poor Rueben...Jindi is jealous because he gets to go to the vet in the back of the ute...how much fun that makes going to the doctors! What is it with dogs not getting sick in regular vet hours? The only time I had to rush Herself to the vet....after hours on Boxing Day! Yep, after hours and a public holiday...I'll just re-mortgage the house to pay for a pain injection because you've pranged yourself shall I? Darn dog!!
    Cute stuff for Etsy.

  33. Luna (my baby cocker) sends her cocker spaniel healing energy Reuben's way! Your blog is wonderful. I hope things pick up for you!

  34. Poor Rueben - it's crap visiting the vet not to mention the bill at the end of it - but the ride there is always fun...vbg. Give him a hug from me. Hope the mini market goes well.

  35. It is the 'law of sod' that dogs (and cats) like to get sick on sundays, bank holidays or in the evenings. I'm so glad he's recovered now but, I must ask, what's an uti?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sweet Ruben. I have a very soft spot of doggies. Best wishes to him and damn the vet bills.

  37. Oh poor Ruben - hope he's all healed up now.

Old lady Moog saw the V.E.T. recently because her back legs weren't working properly. She's now on anti-inflammatory drugs and has started having swimming lessons!

Good luck with the shop- I might have to go and press my nose up against the window.
