Blogless

Teenagers who use up all of their mother's Internets, rendering her almost blogless for a week do not actually deserve the quilt that said wonderful mother is making for them.
(and were the same thing to occur next month, there will a gnashing of teeth and a roaring of roars unlike anything said teenagers have ever witnessed)

I feel you on that one! Teens are great at using ALL the bandwidth!

Feeling very blessed to have little people that aren't allowed to use the internet yet!! I hope we don't hear any roaring in the next month! ;)

Jo in TAS said...

My teen did that last school holidays, I felt like my right arm had been cut-off! Dear hubby upped out download limit cause this roaring mummy wasn't very pleasant to live with!

I hear you Jodie...
I am always fighting for internet time...Thank goodness for school hours at least...

Cath @ chunkychooky said...

If you replace the word cath with the word teens and the threats coming from Chef that would be our house....eeeeekkk

Stomper Girl said...

Maybe you could fund a bigger plan out of her pocketmoney? That quilt is wondrous, if daughter re-offends on the download front then I think you could reconsider quilt allocation ...you know, Jodie, that *I* would never use up your internet....

Frogdancer said...

At least it happened during term time, when you have access to work internet. Imaginer the horror if it happened during school holiday time.....

Kate said...

I did that once, only half way through the month. The following two weeks were torture!
Loving the quilt :-)

All my bandwidth was used up this month as well - wish I could blame it on another, but it was all me! The quilt you're making is going to be very cool, lovin the fabrics in it!

I have to blame it on the husband with the gaming addiction.

I am the only one on my computer ... yeah!!! Computers weren't around when before my daughter grew up and moved out!! Now she has to pay for her own. Of course, now I have to pay for my own! But I can use it any time I want.

Love the quilt.

17 year old teenaged got his own internet today for his birthday, to stop him being a space invader on his parents pc. Quilt looks great too

LOVE the quilt! I find I have a whole lot more time to sew when I'm away from computer. LOL!

Teens and the internet, not good is it..? My daughter has told her teens that the next time it happens then they will have to pay for pre-paid so their Mother can use it ALL...!! Hehehe, it seems to have worked so far..
Love the quilt too Jodie..

Yep, It is not something I am looking forward to Jod. The quilt looks great though, maybe you could give it to me instead!!!!

Kerryanne English said...

Ahhaa... been there done that. Believe me Jod roaring doesn't work but banning them from the internet for the same period of time you had to go without seems to speak to them load and clear. LOL
We've just upgraded to 100 GB just to spare me the pain (and roaring).

Super quilt!

I forsee some struggles ahead in our household re- the internet issue. the 10 yo seems to have quite a voracious appetite..

Tas said...

If I promise not to use up your Internet allowance, could I have the quilt Jodie? ;)

Handmade said...

Great fabric choices in that lovely quilt that she SO doesn't deserve!!

We gave up and upgraded. Since only my youngest is officially a teenager (19) and kids these days don't seem to move out of home I would suggest it doesn't get any better.

Glad you're back, and since she doesn't deserve the quilt you could always send it on to me. :)

Hi Jodie,

I have certainly been almost blogless and unable to access blogs before due to another person's usage...in my case it was my Husband!!!
Grrrrr
(actually when our sons were in their teens he used to drive them crazy as the internet was too slow for their assignments LOL)

clare's craftroom said...

Sorry I can't comment about your quilt as I can't see it as someone has used all the net here too .
When we were teens we would never do this to our parents ,when we were teens there really wasn't any internet but that's beside the point !

Alex said...

I;m in the same boat! I've been throttled down because my 6YO used up too much bandwidth on the CBeebies website while he was off school (sick apparently). I was trying to baste HIS quilt and he was marginally helpful...until he started waxing his head with duct tape (which is where CBeebies came into the equation).

Prue said...

I see that your stash has many similar fabrics to my stash! Nice :)

Thankfully no teenagers here yet but eldest is starting the one/one computer class next year so its about to start!! Wondered why you were a bit quiet?? Nice Quilt for someone who is testing the boundaries :-)

PS word verification is slapa, hee hee

CurlyPops said...

OH No! I don't like it when you're blogless!

Jan said...

Wondered why you were so quiet, Jodie - it's just not like you!! Love the quilt - but does your Miss J REALLY deserve it?? After all, there is a line-up of very good (ie - not your bandwith-using-up types) bloggers all ready, willing and able to give it a good home...

You can come and use my internet Jodie!

Michelle Whyte said...

Painful children!!!!! I have been lucky that has not happened to me yet. But I reckon if it did the child would suffer many a painful tongue lashing.

Katy (France) said...

Thank the lord of crafting for unlimited internet..I don't know what I'd do without it! :-)

thornberry said...

Oooooo Jodes, you're a real quilter! Look at that! And I think it might be time that you upgraded your internet plan....

Griffin said...

Harrumph! In that case, keep the quilt and send the said teen to the Naughty Step.

A gnashing of teef is usually followed by a weepin' an' a wailin'. Just remind teen that you will be doing the gnashing!

A Peppermint Penguin said...

Oi! I can't be doing without my RicRac fix!? Bad enough if you can't blog of your own reasons, but to be thwarted by teenogres - not niceness!!!

'Gerroff or get yer own.' You can tell 'em I said so. Or I'll, I'll - ah, eh, not very threatening am I!?

Nice quilt!

Said quilt is looking fabbo.
Will you be wearing a crown and white pj's with your bottom buttoned up whilst roaring and gnashing??

silverpebble said...

Ooh, I spy Lily's blouse fabric top right. I love how eclectic this is and the letterpress-ish print is genius.

Missed you, glad you're back! (pesky kids!) Are you at daylesford on Sat?

my snot monsters go through 50gig each month in 18 days... they want me to spend more.. cause we get slowed down after 50gig.. 50GIG... am considering passwording the net with a new # but too darn lazy... kids eh? I love them, but I dont think I could eat a whole one...

Leanne said...

I would like to be around for that gnashing and roaring, it would be worth seeing LOL.

This whole thing you have going in Australia about a monthly limit on bandwidth is beyond me. It drove me crackers when I was home and returning to the UK to unlimited (obviously w fair usage clauses ;-)
was one of the few reasons for facing up to that plane trip!

Moogsmum said...

No internets? I kind of lost the power to read when you said those pesky teens had used up your internets. Thank goodness you put in a pretty picture to help me regain my composure!!

Judy Ross said...

Teenagers! Mine recently did that with TWELVE days of the month to go. Much gnashing of teeth ensued, and I was consoled only by the fact that he was suffering most of all. Not that it helped.

Christina said...

My husband does that to me! Just watching silly little youtube clips his friends send him is enough to destroy our crappy internet. (We are in a 'black spot', so only get crappy internet in the first place. It doesn't take long to use it all up, so youtube clips are a no no on the home computer now. Are you listening Dave?) Then, grrrr, it takes all day to load a photo to the blog and I growl at Dave, the internet, the computer and so on.

However, your quilt is looking all kinds of loveliness. We could trade? I could send my husband over to your house and you could send the quilt here? :)

PS. Thanks for the birthday wishes!

Sarah said...

ohh I like that mixture of fabrics - you are so lucky to have that collection in your hands!

Oh but look at your children sweet eyes... ( ha ha ha)

Bree said...

my husband became so fed up with me using 'his' computer to do my blogging and reading that he bought me my own laptop!

tialys said...

My husband bought me a laptop too but I still prefer to use the 'big' one as it is attached to the printer and is easier to put my photos on. Anyway, I still sometimes find that they are both occupied when I want them.
Love the quilt Jodi, I'm not getting on very fast with the one I'm making for my own teen but I have until next August (it's for her 18th). Once Christmas is over with, I'll get on with it. Honest!

Love it Jodes.....<3

I know exactly how you feel!

LOVE your fabrics!!! The whole metered out internet usage in Aus drove me nuts! One of the reasons I was happy to move back to the US.

Leeann said...

Mmmh is my son living at your house too? When I'm old I'll go to his house and use all of his stuff, maybe draw on the wall. Hay I could even miss the toilet too!

R. Reed said...

Oh how true this is!! I totally feel your pain! My son isn't at home to often but when he is boy the whole house knows it! We all have laptops, one would think that is two of us could be on at the same time with no problems another two would be able to. Oh contrarmonfrar!! LOL :) My son "sucks up all the internet"! I don't know how, just don't understand it but when he is home we all go do something else and leave the laptops closed.

HUH, maybe he SHOULD be home more often :)
