What can I say

What exactly can I say about Sew it Together?

Saturday started bright and early and the country travellers laughed themselves to the point of hysteria all the way to Melbourne.

I spent the day sporadically stitching in between chatting, talking, guffawing and hugging and then laughed all the way home again on the train. The train was full of blokes who had been to the footy but the loudest, most raucous, arm-flailing laugh-till-you-snort group were the five crafters in the end carriage!

I met a heap of fantastically warm and generous and funny bloggers in real life and even typing now I am breaking out into a huge grin.

The talent in the room was amazing - there was almost every kind of craft imaginable going on - but special mention does have to go to Andi who made a whole quilt on the day....I managed about 7 letters of embroidery and got some great advice embroidery from Cindy (thanks).

Sheridan put in so much work and so much effort and I really don't think she knows what she has started and she deserves the highest honours blogland has to give. Next year she will need a bigger venue to accommodate all the bloggers from this year plus everyone who missed out.....

and just in case there is someone who has missed me touting my wares all over the place lately - I made a bag for Homespun magazine a wee while ago and it is in their current "go Green issue" along with a bit of me banging on and the worst photo ever taken

(No seriously, someone at the show actually asked me why I had sent in such a hideous photo)

but the bag looks good

almost as good as Miss Claire's Frankie the Frog.

  13. Yep, it was such a great day out and I can't wait to do it again next year. Thanks for the company and the laughs, Jodie, Lizzie, Rachelle, Deborah, Trash,Jacinta, Ellen and all the other wonderful, fabulous, friendly, talented bloggy girls. Although I would just like to make it clear to everyone that although I was in that group on the train, I was NOT one of the snorters (spent the trip laughing till I cried, though!)

  22. I LOVE Homespun magazine! As a Brit who visits NZ for several months a year I read it from cover to cover (our Library keeps it) and have made some of the items.
Hope to catch up with this Homespun & see your bag pattern.

  27. Jodie!! Your fabulous bag is ON THE COVER of a magazine. Who-hoo!! I hope you'll still be able to talk to the rest of us. It's beautiful, and really, how tasteful can you get, with a matching cell phone!

  28. Glad you had a good time. From what I've read it seems you and your friends (Ernst, Parsley and Beet, Bots, etc) were very popular. I heard you were mobbed!! LOL

As I commented on Lizzie's blog: "I'd better learn to sew quickly!" Especially if there's to be a Sydney event next year!! Do you think I'd be allowed to knit instead?

  29. About time the footy hooligans were shown how it's done!

    Wish I could've been there. :)

  30. SIT was the best much fun!!!
It was AWESOME to meet you Jode, you are even funnier in person, if that's possible!
Thank you sooooo much for bringing Ernst, Parsley, Beet and the Robot crew, it was awesome to see them up close and give Ernst a hug. Gypsy and I patched things up once Ernst left us both to return to Pebble - he is such a heartbreaker!!!! ;-)
Can't wait to see what you do with that lovely loot you bought on Saturday, how excitement.
Looking forward to seeing you again in Sydney in March!
    Big hugs
    Kelly :-)

PS: Ernst was very productive at SIT, Jules has photos to prove it! ;-)

  32. I must buy the mag now just so I can see how ridiculos the photo is... LOL!!

    Hugs - Jodie :)

  33. Hi Jod, oooh sounds like you had a blast! Such fun..
YOu know I just bought that mag today as Christine (Once Upon a Quilt) is in it too...
Can't wait to sit and read it now with a good coffee.

Keep up the great work and especially all the encouragement :-)

  34. Great to have you on the next craft table, it was a laugh wasn't it. I'm going to be making the bag soon I promise ;-)

  35. Sounds like one fun party! I'm so totally jealous!

  36. Sounds like a ball... a much more intelligent, productive ball than FOOTball. I'm now imagining a whole train devoted to crafters - how fun would THAT be!! I'm dreaming of just such a trip ...
Laughed out loud about your photo comment (although I haven't seen the mag) as I had a similar experience recently - how is it that a photo that looks fine before you send it off for publication can end up looking hideous? I don't get it either!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Sounds like it was a great time had by all, I am smiling from afar! Well done on the homespun mag along with Claire (you two together again!) Love the bag! Did you really send them that photo??? Laughing with you....not at you :0
