that I had another great sewjourn experience.
Despite the fact that it took Annie and I four hours to make a one and a half hour journey, we arrived and got straight into it. (We popped in to Drapers of Mt. Macedon on the way and I have to say this may very well be my new favourite patchwork shop)

I made a cushion for a friends babyand then completely stuffed up the next one...
yep , somehow the lining ended up on the outside...ooops but I unpicked and reorganised and moved on.and the weekend passed with lots of laughter - lots of swearing (from me as I attempted actual garments) and a wonderful sense of camaraderie between friends as the conversations ebbed and flowed over our craft and our families , our lives and which male persons we would hire as stable hands when we built our craftopia (and yes it was me wanting the stables and I decided if I had enough horses I could employ both Viggo Mortensen and Johnny Depp to help me.)
We visited the local shops and the Farmers market where I went a bit produce crazy and came home with jams and preserves and bread and sweets. I spent a crazy amount of time patting dogs and chatting to chickens, listening to buskers and generally just easing along.
I op-shopped, and book shopped and slowed down and hung out and (apart from swearing at clothes) had a great time.
and now with my new-found garment sewing skills I'm off to measure up Johnny and Viggo for some tight-fitting jodhpurs - I mean it's a bugger of a job but tight fitting jodhpurs are an Occupational health and Safety requirement!

But Johnny is mine, mine, mine....
ReplyDeleteThanks again Jods for such a brilliant weekend.
Good old Sewjourn, it really is the best.
ReplyDeleteI know you and Johnny are old mates. I remember the photo shoot.....
ReplyDeleteSounds like a deliciously wonderful weekend. I'm so happy for you. Love the cushions!
Lucky you scored that lovcely old-fashioned tailors' tape measure for measuring the inner leg.... or will you just pretend you don't have one of those?
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great one!
xx
OK, the jodhpur thing is scaring me a little. Glad you had a fabulous time, excellent lady.
ReplyDeleteI have only been reading your blog for a very short time but I am so excited to see you mention the Drapers of Mt Macedon as this means you passed through my lovely little town!
ReplyDeleteJealous of your crafty weekend! I know someone who had a fling with Viggo!
ReplyDeleteJohnny Depp is a big spunk but Hamish Blake is too and he's nice and local. Lucky I am here to contribute the intelligent comments...
ReplyDeleteIf you need someone to help you hold the tape measure then I'm on the next plane over :D
ReplyDeleteYou really know how to get the ladies pulses racing on a cold old Monday night don't you??? How am I supposed to get to sleep now? My dreams will be full of jodpurs and measuring tapes and you & Johnny in an opshop and god knows what else. Sounds like a fab weekend nevertheless! xo
ReplyDeleteYeah for fun and relaxing and laughter.
ReplyDeleteSounds fabulous! Good company, sewing, wine, dog patting, op-shopping, book shopping and jam shopping - that's my kinda weekend all right! I'll let you gals fight it out over Johnny, I'm happy enough with Viggo thanks! Ah, Aragorn, my love! ;-)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the car cushion Jode, it's soooo cute. I'm about to embark on the adventure of clothe making - I'm sure I'll do a lot of swearing as well!
So much fun!
ReplyDeleteNot sure how Mrs G will feel about you pilfering two stalwarts of the cabana but I'm loving your work ;-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteIf only Johnny and Viggo could have been there...
Sounds like the perfect weekend! Lucy xx
ReplyDeleteAt some stage, you will come down from this month of crafterama and realise that ..... well .... that you can just keep on crafting!! Yay!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had fun. Next time, take me too!!!
Andi :-)
PS Johnny any day!
As girls weekends go - it doesn't get much better than that Jodie. Not unless someone books Johnny Depp to come along to carry your 'craft supplies'!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the car cushion, and the alphabet print which I'm guessing looked fab once the lining wasn't disguising it! Sounds like you had a fab weekend!
ReplyDeleteI love girly craft weekends, and by the sound of it yours was great.
ReplyDeleteMake sure you warm you hands up before you start measuring up Johnny and Viggo, you wouldn't want them to jump off the table with the shock of cold hands on their inner thights.
once again you have done it!, made my day that is! sounds like the most perfect weekend. Now i have to look up Viggo, already know Johnny, good choice. The cushions look lovely, even inside out! lol.Good luck on the clothes sewing front,
ReplyDeletesounds like a great time. Viggo in tight jodhpurs - hhmmmm.
ReplyDeleteHmmmm.....now I'm dreaming about Viggo in tight jodphurs....aaahhhh!!!!!

ReplyDeleteYou will get those new stable hands to model the jodhpurs for us, right????
ReplyDeleteSounds like Sewjourn was THE place to be for a fun time. ;o)
Oooo! I'm so jealous of your crafty-good times!
ReplyDeleteAt least I have DD and GS#1 a couple of days a week for knitting company and (sometimes) patchwork fun!
...and The Stitches and Craft Show is just three weeks away!
mmmm.... yum! (Viggo and tight fitting jodhpurs that is, although I'm sure the jams are lovely too).
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect weekend & a fantastic plan. Do make sure you are thorough & professional when carrying out your tailoring duties, make sure you ask Misters Mortensen and Depp 'to which side does sir dress', he, he!
