Did you read that? four stories that take up an entire city block !
I think this is Portland State Bookstore.
Powells again.
And today, because I am a nerd-burger of the highest order I took a public tour of the Portland City Library. All the photos are on some other device. I marvelled at the beauty of the building, and admired the dedication of the staff, I visited the fun and noisy children's collection and loved looking at the original book illustrations. I felt very cultured and learned until I fell down the stairs (twice).
Oh Jodie I shouldn't laugh about you falling down the stairs but you crack me up!
ReplyDeleteIt was hysterical, I fell down the stairs... Stood up.... Brushed myself off and stepped back just a tad and fell down again.
DeleteYou're funny, Jodie. I hope you're alright! I think I would really, really like that bookshop. I'm wondering how much it costs to be like Beatrix Potter and self-publish yourself a copy or two of Ernst or the Bus-Stop Story Hmmmmm????
DeleteNot funny about falling down stairs! Glad you're here to tell the tale.
ReplyDeleteI am over excited about a book store that is 4 storeys tall! Wow! Sounds like my kind of heaven.
Cheers
You are an awesome nerd burger and amateur slapstick comedian
ReplyDeleteSo you managed to live dangerously in a library! Well, at least you lived to tell the story. Avoid libraries in the future LOL
ReplyDeletewell if they will make the stairs so interesting.
ReplyDeleteMind how you go dear!
Gosh you're a funny girl Jodes! Wish I was travelling with you. Don't forget the rosé gardens! And the viaduct aquaducty bridges thingy (can't remember where that was - we were lost at the time)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're in one piece. That is an amazing bookstore!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to spend a day but without the falling down the stairs bit.
ReplyDeleteMy family is a lover of books. When we move the first place we visit is the library. When living in Oregon we'd ask the kids what they wanted to do for the weekend and "Powells" was often the answer. Just say NO to eReaders! :o) Hope you weren't wearing a skirt!
ReplyDeleteTwice? Bwahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteSHITE!!!! That must have hurt...physically and emotionally! I think we have a case here! ;p
ReplyDeleteIt was hysterical Ina. !
DeleteLibrarian heaven then? Sounds like you're having a fabulous time can't wait for you to bore us with all the details ;o)
ReplyDeletexxx
The travel section in today's Age newspaper has a double page spread on Portland. Powell's gets a couple of paragraphs.
ReplyDeleteOh wow - that is FANTASTIC! Not the falling down the stairs part, but the rest of it! Librarian heaven!
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone. I stayed at the Library hotel in New York. The rooms are numbered in Dewey decimal order and are full of books on topics that match the room's Dewey number. It is just around the corner from the actual NY library. Oh, bliss.
