If my brain had an off switch...

So I liked, but didn't love the little guys.....I'm not sure why really, they are quite cute. I kept thinking about them and I just wasn't sure they were finished...

I thought it would be good to make them a little bag to be carried in...something simple...maybe drawstring? But because its me I had to go one step further....

I thought of windows... round windows .... and if you have windows, obviously you need a door !

and if you have a door, and a letterbox and a number, then obviously you have a house.

a portable house for your pig and your kitten and your monkey with special window pockets on the front and plenty of room inside for all the things that a pig and a kitten and monkey might need.
Too much?

(*with that, she dusts of her hands and tells herself firmly that she is not allowed to start ANY new projects until she has made a man-sized dent in the pattern writing).

I am totally in love with this little house! Totally inspired.

My diary says "pattern writing" for the next three days.

But then... I do have to watch So You Think You Can dance.

Wowser.

Jodie nails it again.

If your brain had an off switch... all the ideas would build up inside and then would have to leak out your ears..........

OMG did I just type that?

Quick, quick, get those instructions written so we can see some more wonderful creations.
If you are lucky the fairy instruction writers will pay you a visit during the night and magically write them all up for you - or not. They never seem to come to my house!!

I want a house just like that. The critters look so comfy in their new home and how cool that it is mobile - they can go anywhere just what three friends like to do. Thanks for sharing

Lissa
PS very cute bag, can you make an evil cat sized baggie??? airholes are optional.. the darn-hair-chucky-uppy-dinner-chucky-uppy-furball-bastard-beast has been at it again... if he wasn't so darn cute he'd be outta here...
PPS the bastard cats brain is in pristine virginal state, he NEVER uses it..

You are so clever you scare me! Actually it reminds me of the 3 little pigs.... Oh O'

Susan said...

Your brain is working perfectly and the little house bag is JUST what they needed. Now I want to make myself a set, see what you've done? I was holding out for Ernst and Pebble and now you've made these guys irresistible. I love things with "parts", so a house/bag is perfect!

Do you ever add blush to their cheeks, Jodie? When I sewed dolls for a local shop (dolls- like Santas, bunnies, garden ladies, witches, scarecrows, etc, not scary Chucky dolls that look real or anything) they never thrilled me until I blushed their cheeks. It just adds life to them.

Regardless, your babies and their new house are wonderful! Keep that brain just as it is, OK? Promise?

kathleen said...

Thanks, my 5 and 7 year old girls now want one of these--is the pattern writing including this project??:)

I don't think it's too much, and it makes three softies very unique! Turns "oh, that's so cute" into a "I've gotta have that pattern!"

Seems perfectly logical to me :)

Kim Walus said...

Definitely, not too much! It's just perfect and what little girl wouldn't die to have one made for them. I can certainly relate to the pattern making thing. Downright painful, it's so much more fun to create it than to make a pattern for it!!

I think this might be my favorite of all your designs Jodi! It is just gorgeous! I want to make it so that I can play with it (and not give it to any little cousin or other little one)!

Griffin said...

Coo, fab! These guys are great... methinks it is the thought of pattern writing that makes you not like them quite so much as otherwise. But they are good.

A glass of wine, the radio on... and the pattern writing will go a little easier, you'll see... with time off for very nearly good behaviour!!

Jan said...

No-one but you would (or could) think of a project like this! Absolutely gorgeous. PS: The word verification is 'copin'; obviously you are!

Holy crap you have a lot of commenters. I just developed a callous scrolling to the comment window.

Anyway, on seeing your little animals in a house I at first thought, OH MY GOD, she's made the three little pigs with houses of straw, sticks and bricks. But you hadn't at all. But hopefully I've now planted another seed. Mwahahahahaha

Are you coming to the stitches and craft show in Sydney again this year? I'm a stiches and craft virgin and can think of no better reason to pop that particular cherry that purely and solely to meet you.

So am I correct in assuming one of the groaning patterns you will be writing up is for the pig/kitty/monkey/house and it will be for sale!!!!!!! They are wonderfully cute and we lesser mortals need to be able to purchase said pattern. Keep up the good work!!!

Love the critters and love the house. Perfect Jodie, well worth all the work!

Ahhh... Jodie, Jodie, Jodie!!! Pwease, pwease pwease... can you put this project on your pattern-writing list?!!! I love it!!!!!!! WAY too cute!!!! I've just been catching up with your posts and you've had me in hysterics (as always!!!) Just love the spam post containing the rude word!!! LOL... you're awesome!

ps. When I'm rich, I'll join you in the 24/7 pjama-wearing extravaganza! I've decided when I get to be a really old white-haired lady I am going to be eccentric... wear only pink and frills... flowers in my hair and all that. By then my children should be old enough not to be totally embarassed! LOL...

Ok... how's your pattern writing going? Do bloggers keep leaving you silly LONG messages? Tut! hehehe... :-)

Jodie, that striped roof! You are genius! I LOVE round things, and round windows (like submarine portholes) with little faces peeping out are just about killing me. And that piggie's solemn face! Argh!! All wonderful. Thank you, thank you for making such inspired, one-of-a-kind things!
