This is.........what scares me

Ok, Just to let you know I am a shrieker !
That's right, all you have to do is catch me unawares and speak to me and I will be startled and shriek like a big girl. God forbid you should actually sneak up behind me and put a hand on my shoulder- you will be deafened !

This causes endless fun for people, particularly at work. I can just be sitting in my office working and someone will come to the door and just say "Jodie' and arrrrgghhhhh I scream ! It usually scares them just as much!

I scream if someone steps out of a doorway in my own house and I didn't expect it.
I have no idea why I do this and I don't think I was like this as a kid.

This is what scares me.

Her name is Cecilia and she was Jemma's Christmas present.

She used to stand just inside Jemma's door but I had to move her to the other side of the room because she startled me every time I went in there.

Of course Cecilia pops up in the strangest places, the laundry..... the sewing room, always beautifully attired but she scares the crap out of me nonetheless and the rest of the house fall about laughing!

of course all the "big" things scare me as well , like global warming, over population, consumer culture but for actual heart racing, bladder control fright - nothing is as scary as Cecilia .

  5. OK, given your fear, that was quite a present to receive. Geez - she would make me jump every time I caught her in the corner of my eye. Personally, I don't think I could have her in my home she would make me so unsettled. I hope nobody ever decides to start moving her around your house 'just for fun'!

  9. Celia's very cool (and funny!!). Although I must admit, if she was in my house I would have to make her face the wall. I really don't like things 'looking' at me... even inanimate objects! ( I can't eat a fish with its head on either - "it keeps looking at me...with its EYES!!!!").

  10. That is one fantastic idea for a present. My daughter would love it! I can see why she's scary though - she's not exactly unobtrusive is she? It's a shame she's not more useful around the house really.

    Thanks for the laugh. x

  11. Yup! She's scary!!! But very very cool too! I'd hate to walk into a room and catch her in the corner of my eye - it would definitely give me a shock! You poor thing!

  12. I'd be quite freaked out having something like that in the house!...especially if it's being moved and changed all the time...

  13. I like the idea of Celia waiting to greet me each morning in the kitchen, with an apron on. And perhaps some washing up gloves too. I'd position her between the sink, and the coffee machine. Then I could get used to her.
But I think Jazz the labradoodle would growl. She and Celia might have a troubled relationship.

  14. This post made me laugh. I think of all the things to be scared of, a real life manequin about the house would do it for me.

  20. You are too funny. A great post... and a great premise..I'm not one for lifelike dolls...especially when the lights are off and you are faced with them in the dark..it's the realness that is scary...

  23. Oh my... This is so funny! Love your theme this week... But I found it a very hard one!

I understand you when you say that you always scream when someone comes out of the doorway when you don't expect it, I have that as well. Don't think it has anything to do with fear, because I'm not really scared of anything hee hee... So what is it then?

Love Cecilia, but I also can think of her as truely scarry when you sometimes crawl out of bed for some tea at night and find out that she had the same idea!

  27. Hi Jodie,
I can see why Celia scares you! Unfortunately I think I would be the person who sneaks up on you at work to hear you shriek - it's not a mean streak, just a love of shaking things up a bit in traditionally quiet or conservative surroundings!
    Love your pictures ....

  29. I'm a shrieker at the movies too. Usually scares people more than whatever happens in the film. Cecilia is scary. With my imagination, she'd be coming to life at home in the middle of the night. Perhaps you could train her to work on any UFO's lying around...
