A friendly warning

Today was meant to be a post about cute things and new things but I can't write it. I don't often get ranty here, but man.... I have a pretty big case of shit-on-the-liver today.

You guys know about The Big Comic Relief Crafternoon Magazine that I posted about recently. Well it seems some people are not happy with it.

  • A number of people have chosen to email me their 'absolute disgust' that I would support a UK charity when there are so many charities needing help in Australia.
  • Even more people have complained to me that they live too far from Sainsbury's to get a copy.
  • People have complained that they went to Sainsbury's and couldn't find it or it wasn't there or it might have sold out.
  • People complain that they shouldn't have-to download a copy just because they don't live in the same country that the magazine is printed in.
  • People have complained that it is 'not fair' that I got a friend to post me a copy from the UK. because 'Obviously not everyone has the money to pay a friend to post them their own special copy".
This is nothing ! Emma Mitchell awesome co-inventor of the whole shebang is getting these and other ridiculous complaints constantly.
If you have been reading here for awhile you might have an idea of how I generally respond to a bit of inbox hate like this, but I have been very restrained and professional and as helpful as my little self can be ...SO FAR.
Today, I am taking a day off from being the bigger person, I don't want to be nice and understanding about this. I actually want to smack people... really hard, and ask them who the hell they think they are.

So, those folks should consider themselves warned.

  1. Oh seriously, don't people have anything better to do, get a life people sort out your own problems. People have blogs to write about what they like, if you don't like it change the channel! Sad to say I did get a giggle out of the comments, what a bunch of idiots.

  2. So sorry - but as my father would say -"Some folks would complain if you hung them with a new rope."

  3. Wow! Why give a warning - just sock them! Some serious expectation and entitlement issues out there! Seriously!

    ReplyDelete
  4. You hit the nail on the head with one word: ridiculous. Sorry these people are plaguing you and Emma (and others, I am sure).

  5. Go Jodie! It astounds me how entitled some people seem to feel and how absolutely absurd their requests and complaints can be.

  6. Wow what a bunch of party poopers! Good on you for standing up for yourself, and give your delete key a good workout too!

    ReplyDelete
  7. Go girl! You tell them! Some people are so selfish and incapable of figuring things out for themselves. They dont know how to just suck it up and get over themselves!

    ReplyDelete
  8. My pet hate - people with a sense of entitlement who whinge. Sorry you have to deal with them and good on you for saying something.

  9. Unbelievable the utter seflishness, not to mention sense of entitlement, only person in the entire universe attitude of some people...

  10. FFS! Unbelievable selfish people!
Sorry you are on the end of this.

  11. It can only be noted to be commendable if you have donate your time and artistic expertise to help another soul...who bloody well cares where you choose to do this, how wonderful of you to contribute. Too all the mean spirited and frankly to lazy to get off their arses and help all those poor souls closer to home, I say go roll in the gutter and eat dirt! You get the gist of my sentiment.
We all know you have the powers of God and have issued a mandate that everybody get their copy in a timely manner- in their next life! Really Jodi you should have organised yourself better and delivered the damn magazine to their door!
Bless you girl for being so generous and poo hoo everyone else

    ReplyDelete
  12. PS you forgot to deliver the copy to my door

  13. Yep, what Monique's Mess & Jindi's Cottage said - bunch of self-absorbed selfish stupid wankers.

  14. Let it rip Jodie.
You and the other Comic Relief Creators have done nothing to be in trouble for.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Feeling better now, Jod? Rant totally deserved, some people are just idiots who need to get over themselves and get a life. Good for you for supporting a good cause, wherever it's based.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Furthermore, those narky, whingey, mean-spirited, complainy arseholey types should all get stuffed!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Let them have it and don't hold back. Bet these people don't get off their ar**s to help a charity in their country or another country. So bloody what if you choose to help out a charity here in Australia or overseas, nobodies business but your own (and us because we all like what you do and are interested in the designs and how far your crafting takes you). Also wonder that if they had the opportunity to say it face to face not sitting behind a faceless computer.

It's a charity for gods sake doesn't matter how you buy the pattern the money obviously goes to the charity. If they don't want to support a overseas charity don't buy the bloody magazine then, simple as that, it's not rocket science.

Rant over, big breaths and have a cuppa tea.

Take depth breaths and have a cup of tea.

  19. sorry if I was in that :(

I don't get out much, so I get very resentful and bitter and twisted and whiney at not bein able to go get stuff for myself.

again sorry. (turns out my cleaner shops there and is going to have a go)

I think you are a Rockstar and am mostly excited that more UK crafters will get to see how awesome your stuff is.

  20. gee those dickwads are brave emailing you nasty emails LOL! seriously some people arent happy unless they are bitching and moaning... I recently made some little stitcheries and sent them to the US to help a charity over there... Im also helping with an aussie charity... Im all for helping out here in Australia, but im not going to bag those who help else where too. good on ya for what you do :)

  21. A blight on all you big hearted creative types who give your time to contribute to these sorts of fund raising efforts. There are lots of needy people in the U.K. (where I'm from) and that's why I never, ever take any notice of pleas for help from war torn countries or those that have suffered from natural disasters or anybody or anything needing help if they are not from the U.K. I live in France now and they don't have Sainsburys here - bloody foreigners! I hate downloading stuff - it means I would have to pay for the paper and ink I use to print it out. I would ask my Mum to send me a copy but then she'd have to go to Sainsburys instead of Waitrose, which is well inconvenient, and then I'd have to fork out for a stamp. It's just not fair!!

Or perhaps these people are beyond parody.

    ReplyDelete
  22. thanks for the giggle...(with the comments)
it shouldn't matter where the charity is, just that you are helping out...every charity deserves a helping hand!
so if their favourite rockstar was helping out a charity and it happened to be OS, does that mean they wouldn't help out too? get a life people and be thankful there are wonderful people out there like Jodi who cares and puts her hand up to get the word out...I support you wholeheartedly as do lots of others!

    ReplyDelete
  23. It may feel like you are getting a shitload of complaints Jodie and if I were you I would want to smack people too, but keep in mind for each horrible mean spirited person out there, there are an awful lot of good people, those who think you have done an awesome job! It is a great magazine and you, Emma and the rest of the team have done a brilliant and generous thing. End of!

    ReplyDelete
  24. You go Jodie get that shit off your chest some people just have no idea

    ReplyDelete
  25. What balderdash and rubbish you have to put up with! I really, really hope that it doesn't put you or Emma M from helping any charities that you choose in the future. Hope that the small minded people realise (somewhat belatedly) that they could put their energy into more positive actions instead. Also hope that the rant helped your mental well being! Thanks for supporting this charity - and for supporting other charities too!

  26. Drop by school tomorrow...you have a huge parcel in the office

  27. When a need is laid upon your heart, it is necessary that you follow it to conclusion. Hurting people are everywhere. Need is universal. Hard hearted people are everywhere. Nastiness is universal. Thank you for your big heart and desire to help without borders. God bless.

  28. Well these faceless folks are probably sitting around smoking candy cigarettes with nothing else to do. Shit spews from their mouths. I'm a huge fan of the biggie-est kind. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow! What is wrong with people!? Clearly they don't know what it's like to have real problems. You go girl!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Emma and the whole team have done such a fantastic job with this magazine. And you know those people who moan and whinge? I'm going to lend you a special word for them. That word is 'twunt'.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That sucks Jodie! Just know that you rock. <3

    ReplyDelete
  32. I feel so so sorry and bloody angry for Emma and you and everyone else involved who have had to take shit from these selfish, entitled dickheads after giving up so much of yourselves for free and for such an amazing cause.
The other evening there was a clip from Comic Relief on telly here showing a young boy in Africa (not just a UK charity folks!!) who, before he was helped by Comic Relief, barely survived by eating whatever he could scavenge out of trash bags, living on the filthy streets, wearing rags and taking regular beatings from older kids. He's now in school, living in a safe place and being fed good nutritious food. That is Comic Relief - not just helping UK people.
These idiots who have been 'enraged' at being unable to get hold of a craft magazine or 'disgusted' that it doesn't have more knitting patterns or cross with you for actually having friends on the other side of the world should feel completely and utterly ashamed of themselves but I imagine they feel smug and self-important when they give their little bit of money to charity, without any real comprehension of what it means.
Rant as much as you like Jodie. You've earned it and I love you for it .
    Moogs xxx

  33. Selfish twats. Tell them all to go stuff it where the sun don't sine. It's ok so long as you do it with a smile on your face.

  34. I think you rock Jodie. Don't let the whinges get you down.

  35. Yep thats what I hate about 2015 - we are all allowed an opinion and social media gives us an means to voice it and for some reason gives some people the idea that the ruder they are the better. And these so called reality TV shows that encourage b...ching and voting people off encourage the same nastiness....yet I take the kids to school and the teachers are pedalling backwards trying to install respect and responsibility in our children...yep OUR children who grow into teenages...it starts at home folks.

  36. You deliver the smack, I'll inflict a simultaneous hearty shin kick.

    Love your work, lady.

  37. You Rock, The whole team Rocks, all the supporters of Comic Relief Rock! I am in AWE of all the work you have done to make this such a success. Anyone who puts in their time and effort into helping others and making this WORLD a better place gets my vote every time. I love you Jodie, and so do millions around the world. When it comes to haters and wingers, They miss the point. Hit the delete button, they are not worth your time. Don't give them any thought and don't let them take any of your light and spirit.

  38. Jodie, you and all the other designers who contributed to the project are awesome. The world needs more people like you guys. I can't believe that people have commented so negatively, crafting folks are normally so kind. If these people were true supporters of your work and those who contributed to the mag than they wouldn't have behaved like this.
Please continue to be your bright bubbly self, you are amazing xxx

  39. How childish they are...I actually didn't know you could download the magazine, so to me that's a bonus.
You are doing your bit to make the world a better place...congratulations on being one of these people. These other people need to shut up, take a leaf out of your book and do the same.
Hugs, Sharon (sorry in husbands name)

  40. See that DELETE button on the keyboard Petal? Just keep hitting it & ignore the lot of them. Know that there are many others who love you! I'm coming down to Ballarat in a few weeks if you need a cuddle. xoxo

  41. How did I spend my lunch hour today? Reading that magazine on my phone, bought through Google Play. Loved every second of it and will go back for more pouring over it. Can't wait to make up the projects--which one first? (Ron!). The creative, talented, amazing people who designed the items in the magazine and the people who put it all together are the sorts I'd love to hang out with. Sending much love out in the universe to counter-act all the grumpy @&^#~*%&s out there.

  42. I think your word for 2015 may apply here! 😊

  43. Sometimes I am just dumbfounded at the things people think up to complain about. It must take up an awful lot of their time. You're much too busy for that, such a sunny, positive person. Ignore, ignore, ignore.

  44. People are just unbelievable! I wrote a little ebook of Australian veganised recipes. I'm expat living in Germany. Some of the money is going to the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre. I had someone send me an email complaining that the currency was in USD despite explaining that I was living in Germany and we do not have programs here (well low cost ones) in AUD as I am not in Australia. It was written in a way that was just mean spirited, it's just a little ebook that costs the same as a cup of coffee in Australia but he implied I was part of some evil US dollar economic consortium riping people off :(

    ReplyDelete
  45. Total first world problems!
"I am disgusted that I've had to get up off my well padded arse and toddle down to sainsburys to buy a magazine that costs a tiny percentage of what each individual pattern would cost, only to find that I've dithered too long and they've sold out! How horrendous! I know what I'll do - I'll bitch and moan about it and see if I can get a free copy" I doubt the thought of donating the cost of the magazine they couldn't buy even entered their thick bloody heads before whoever it was shot off a strongly worded email.

  46. As my brother would say, "some people need to take a long walk off a short pier."

    Hugs to you. :)

  47. Nevermind the asshats, Jodi. You are queen of us all, and we couldn't adore you, or your work, more.

    ReplyDelete
  48. These people don't know the real you, so don't waste another minute on them. They don't deserve to have a cute guinea pig pattern.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Well really, I'm actually really pissed off that you didn't travel to the UK to bring me back my copy and then make me a cuppa so I could sit & read it ( while you turn the pages of course) I would of then told you what colours I wanted Ron & Audrey in & sat eating grapes while you made them for me......So looks as if I will just have to get off my fat arse & do it ALL myself ....... Some people are just sooooooooo inconsiderate !!!!

    ReplyDelete
  50. GOOD FOR YOU! Not shouting just agreeing, a little loudly! I've watched as these women have bitched & moaned on the Molly Makes facebook page, & shaken my head with total disbelief at just how unreasonable, & selfish, & big fat pains in the bum people have become. When did people suddenly decide they had the right to dictate what other people should do? If you want to support anything in the world that is actually your choice & nobody else's business. So they don't live in the UK, or it wasn't in their local Sainsburys, tough. Nobody will actually die if they don't get a copy, your friend sent you one, lucky you, but not my place or anyone else's, to be nasty about it. I just truly think lucky you. Really it's no wonder the world is just getting more & more nasty when people have become such horrible people. Perhaps part of the problem is that we have been letting these people get away with their nastiness because we are polite & think we should ignore them, but perhaps it's time to start standing up & saying, no, your behaviour is unacceptable & we're sick of it. So good for you for speaking up, & if you have to smack a few people, so be it. :-D
