Weetim ( Mother of the Year: 2)

I made a doll version of Jemma's boyfriend for her to give him for Christmas.

Three days of awesome fun with teeny pockets and even teenier neckbands. Strips of leather and tweaks and do-overs and bits that were almost exactly but not-quite......
Dreadlock dilemnas
and tattoo embroidery kept me awake at nights
Flanno shirts and arse slouchy jeans,
teeny T-shirts,

And faithful hounds,

made me wish ( not for the first time) that there were government grants for farting about in the sewing room. Cause just between you and me, I totally nailed the farting about.

  7. Jodie,
Do you have a source for the leather you can share? My son and his wife own a floral company and they wanted aprons with leather ties. I'm having trouble finding it thin enough to tie in a bow.
    Thanks,
    Deborah

    1. Hi deborah, I just use scraps mostly but Lefflers in Melbourne is the place to go for leather.... You could buy a large piece and cut it for straps..

    1. Awww, thats not true of course but the combination of problem solving and teeniness and the order of operations just made me so stupidly happy for three days, I want to make ridiculously detailed things all the time...

  15. Oh dear god woman your talent and skill are limitless! Maybe we should try and get something up on Kickstarter to get you funding for 'Professional Farting Around'?

  19. It's amazing what can be achieved with farting around in a sewing room. His face must have been a picture when he opened his present!

  21. You are an ace farter-around, Jodie! Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall for the pressie opening.

  22. Utterly fantabulous. And I hear you on the farting around. Perhaps you could create these as art objects and charge accordingly?

  23. And his response?? C'mon, you've been teasing us enough! and what were the dreads made out of? Too funny....

  24. I wish my farting around was as productive as yours! The Shopping Sherpa used my exact word -- fantabulous! Imagine a world of "wee" folk replicas. It would be a happier and more fun place.

  25. TOTALLY nailed it. We bow before you. :)

  26. oooooohhhhhhhh! looks like you had fun farting around. I'm so with you on the grants. I think if you called your sewing room a studio and figured out a fancy-dancy name for what you do (I am a textile artist who interprets reality into miniatures) you'd get a grant lickety-split!

  27. So what did he say when he received the gift? The joy of mother toddlers was the joy of mastering farting around. However it is difficult to maintain with the same level of pride now they are at school and I am suppose to be organised, punctual etc! Hope you get that grant, so l can live through you vicariously!

  28. Love the little boyfriend. You have totally mastered farting around and I would nominate you for a Govt Grant for sure xxx

You totally deserved feeling happy for three days. Brilliant!

  33. OMG! And the gold LOGIE award for 'star of the year' goes to Jodie for her awesome rendition of real people in miniature dolly form! Long live farting about!

  34. Farting about or no? The boyfriend looks awesome in miniature.
Guess there'll be some more time for farting about on the holidays.
    Enjoy the new year.

  35. Jodie, that is the best thing I have ever seen. Honestly. Have you read the Lionel Shriver book, Big Brother? The main character has a business making custom dolls that look like real people - she made a fortune....

  36. Fabulousness in fine form. Frivolous farting fares for fantastic finishes.

    WTF did I do there??

    ReplyDelete
  37. Hahaha -- that's AWESOME!!! I'll bet he LOVED it! You're amazing!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Mmm, he doesn't look like the boyfriend of the year to me, but must be a lovely boy for sure that you go into such lengths to make him a present.

And, if he doesn't behave, the present can also double as voodoo doll, clever!

You deserve that grant all right :)

    Speechless!
You are truly the height of incredible. Be as up yourself as you like :)

  41. My goodness! The detailing! Hope he appreciates the expert farting around that went into this! You have truly excelled yourself this time! .....again! :-)

  42. Hooray! That is one fabulous present and one fantastic effort for farting around. Quite sure you could get a grant from the arts council for such things. But the dolls would have to be nude. If they're nude it's art. I learnt that during my fine arts degree. xx

  43. Oh wow.

He'd better be nice to Jemma or she can stick pins in him lol.

  44. What a fantastic present. Seriously, love it.

  45. He is absolutely awesome. I wish I was as clever at farting about as you are! A Very Happy New Year to you. X

  46. OMG, How did I miss this! Fantastic. You SHOULD be given a grant, I agree. Hope he found it equally as amusing and awesome as we all do!
