I wonder if it's preparing for the end of Google Reader and life afterwards...I fully expect to wake up tomorrow, July 1, which today is already tomorrow for you, and my blogs and those I read to have disappeared!
If you have a Windows 8 computer I suggest patience and using the on off switch a lot until it recycles. If you have a cd or dvd in the drive remove it. If you have a thumb drive remove it. Start turning it off and on and usually after about 20 to 30 tries mine comes back on.
