Last week on a trip to Millrose in Ballan, I found the cutest packaging ever!
I stole this photo from their Facebook page by the way.
yes, that just happens to be a ricrac display – look at those little tins, down near the owl… Kits to make up the chubby birds- crazy on the cute meter.
Of course I don’t need to buy a kit of one of my own patterns, (although I was tempted) that would be bonkers.
Instead I bought you guys a present. A tin of liberty!
What is this obsession with cute packaging? I think I would purchase anything if the packaging were cute enough.
Once again , there are no hoops to jump through and secret deals, I bought this ‘cause I knew you would love it as much as me. The tin contains ten 10cm strips x the width of the fabric of Liberty Lifestyle Bloomsbury fabric (that’s the craft weight stuff). All up, its a metre of liberty, tiny little tastes of ten different flavours.

I am in the mad almost back to work last week of holidays where I try to crazily achieve everything I set out to do at the start of the holidays. Sleep is an elusive beast as my brain rockets into overdrive and I am humming the Long service leave mantra to stop me losing my mind. In a few short weeks I shall be a lady of leisure…..
I can barely imagine what that will look like.
Ooooo Liberty... so pretty. What could I do with that - wallet, small purse, insert on a top, share with my friends, the possibilities are endless really.

Very pretty indeed! I've always imagined a lady of leisure swans prettily about in a flowing gown, is fed tidbits of delicious morsels and has her housework done for her. Just a day to myself to create would be great though, especially if someone else made dinner!

ReplyDeleteThe Liberty is amazing, but the packaging so over the top adorable I can't believe it. Here in the states Michael's sells those, and now I may have to buy one.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that packaging so much I'm not sure I could actually use it, I'd have to sit and admire it for a little while at least! When I finally did convince myself to do something, I think a handbag and wallet for special occasions! Or a quilt to showcase it all!

ReplyDeleteKeep thinking all those good thoughts about your LSL. My dad didn't take his until he was due for retirement. Under his award, he also was entitled to his sick leave, so when he went and spoke with his management about his impending retirement, they added up all his time - LSL and sick leave - he had six months leave before his actual retirement. What was good about it was that my mother got used to him being around before it all became official. It also gave him the opportunity to clear his shed, have a few garage sales and prepare the house for sale, as they moved from Melbourne to Mildura a few months after he officially retired. He also took up some new hobbies. He wondered how he could fit a job into his life. It was great. So, enjoy the LSL and we look forward to more adventures from the House of RicRac. :) XX

A few years back they did packaging with metal paint pails - cute but no visibility. This container is so appealing!! 'Course the contents are enticing in the container too!

ReplyDeleteI knew I was a sucker for packaging when I would buy prettily wrapped foods/chocolates I knew I didn't like. The idea of long service leave reminds me of an oasis in the desert. I hope it comes around quickly and feels like it lasts for ages.

ReplyDeleteI made my first trip to Mill Rose a couple of weeks ago, and they have lots of cute stuff! I didn't notice the cute tins. Maybe I was blinded by all the pretty things they have to look at. Hope you make it through to the long service leave!

I hear you about the sleep vs brain overdrive caper. I fear that I am slowly turning into a vampire (probs watching 2 whole seasons of Vampire Diaries in the wee hours of the morning has contributed)I dread returning to work at the end of the hols, which are fast evaporating. I am not sure if it is even possible to sleep before 4am any more!!!!

Great photo, but it is hard not to have a great display full of your creations.
ReplyDeleteI love little tins and containers too. I think it is because you can always find a use for them once they are empty of their original contents. I got excited at Christmas when my SIL finished off her small plastic container of Ferrero Rochers; it is clear and a great size to store things in or carry small projects in when going 'stitching'. I am very easy to please, or i have a very sad life!

What a great shop to visit, although I think I would have come home with more than you did because I am totally a sucker for cute packaging (or reusable packaging).
