Hi Jodie, This is the Powerhouse Museum....

A little while ago I got an email from the Powerhouse Museum. (as you do) That email led to some fun phone calls with Deborah and ended with my Zipper mouth Monsters joining

Craft Punk is running at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney on April 30 /May 1st with drop in workshops and longer book-in type workshops. I can't be there, but my monsters will be and you can sign up and be taught how to make one by Colette of Tessuti fame. I'm so excited, Colette and I have been conspiring to make some not-too-naughty things for the monsters to say.
The patterns and all the fabrics, zippers , buttons and doo-dads are included in the class, and Colette is of course awesomely skilled so you can be guaranteed a successful monster.
How good does the diabolical doily workshop sound?

and you know what, if you fancy yourself a zipper mouth monster and can't make it to the class, you might think about donating $5 to the japan Quake appeal and joining my raffle. If you win I will make you a toy, pretty much any toy you have ever seen on my blog (No, Carmel not a robot from the bus-stop story)- a donkey, a craft clock, a little message-bot or one of the guys from my patterns. I could make you a Zippermouth monster with the rudest saying you can imagine inside his little zipper.

The choice will be yours.

  3. Congratulations, Jodie - that's wonderful.

PS When will you be at the Sewers' Guild (NSW) and what will you be talking about? I think I'd like to be there although I'm not a member of the Guild.

  5. That's so cool! Especially loving the 'work sucks, lets craft' one.

Would love to enter the giveaway, but I already donated all that I could to a very kindly old man from the Red Cross, with his card table set up at Bunnings. It was really sad to see so many people walking straight past him without so much as a sideways glance. I guess we get a bit spoilt, being surrounded by lovely people like yourself in blog land. It's easy to forget that not everyone is as lovely.

  6. Just a thought for the mouth.
    Power(house) your way to success.
Or something similar so that people remember where they got it from.
    Congratulations

  10. Great news, Jodie. Such an interesting event; pity you won't be there to make sure those monsters don't say anything TOO rude.

  19. When I read your title I thought the Powerhouse Museum might have declared your selvedge dress a textile of national significance?!? And yes I know that right about now you are rolling your eyes and wishing you had never made that dress LOL!
Congrats on the little monsters - shame that nothing good ever happens in boring old Adelaide (sigh)

  20. That's okay Jodie. With a new baby, I could really use the spare hours that come with the craft clock, so if I win, I think I will ask you to make me one of those. Pretty please!
