Motivation

At home today I have been doing deals with myself.
If I get all the pattern pieces drawn and tidied up, I'll have morning tea.
Once I get all the text added to the pattern pieces I"ll have lunch.
Once I edit (again) the pattern instructions and print them.....

I can sew something fun !

  1. Our brains are from the same branch I thinks...cause i do the exact same thing. It's the only way I can get through such a busy day and such a huge 'to do' list.
The only reason I'm blogging right now....my reward for finishing the pattern cutting and screens. ( :

  2. Glad it's not just me who talks to herself and does deals with herself! Day off today; isn't it great to be inside. I have been giving myself the talking-to about cleaning up the sewing room but it's just not happening; after all, I have a spare square foot to cut and sew in; what more do I need (apart from a cuppa and lots of chocolate).

  8. Yep, can relate. This was me to myself today - OK, print 20 tea towels then you can check your emails for 5 minutes while eating an apple; then, print another 30 tea towels and you can have lunch ... it went on all day ... I am a sucky manager!

  11. Yay! Thanks for letting me use the balloon idea, have sent it off to the festival organiser, will take photos if it goes ahead of course! Am tempted to do it to use as decorations in my house but unfortunately boring things like finding a job must come first...

  15. Judging from the very cute and tiny party hats you must have been successful with your deals. The pattern writing, rereading, editing, printing is the drudgery. The ideas and making of the "things" is the fun part.

Thank goodness you got to eat lunch. I get wicked without food.

  21. Thanks for the chuckle. I think I'll make some fabulous deals with myself. Why not?
What a tease to show us these cute hats with no explanation.

  22. A new hat just in time for spring racing - that should be enough to brighten your day.

  23. Wish making deals with myself would work, but I'm retired so I have all the time in the world to do stuff. Consequently nothing gets done.

When I was doing a lot of craft fairs, I was deadline driven, and that worked, but now ... ho hum ...

I do have a craft fair in Nov, but that is sooo far off that I piddle with most things right now, but just wait until the end of October - I will fly around the craft studio getting last minute things finished.

I sure hope you get in to "mode" again soon.

  24. Is there a tiny party going on at your place? Those look like party hats.

I've been trying to make deals with myself, but I keep reneging on the deals and doing other things.

  26. Food is such a great motivator. And also, how could anyone grumpy sew that CUTE dress? Don't worry, my little one wakes about 10 times a night (18mths) and the other night in my sleep I shouted "f$#&*in c**t". This is so so bad. I don't know why I am telling you this but I hope it makes you feel better. ;0)

  30. I'm another one who gives myself little rewards for getting the crappy jobs out of the way.

I've just emptied the bin and put the washing machine on so that I can sit down to read the internets.

I actually need a cuppa so I suppose I'd better vacuum the living room!

YAY for school hols!!! And yay for mini treats between pattern-writing escapades. Patterns make me grumpy too... but your blog always lifts my spirits - thank you!

Love that cute little dress in the previous post, it's lovely seeing your characters come to life in different ways.

    Hugs! Vikki xoxo
