Decorum...........

Yesterday afternoon Mr Ric-Rac and I headed off to Bendigo to see, once again, the freaky genius of the John Butler trio. Sometime after lunch Mr Ric-Rac enquired as to whether I had my car-craft planned. YIKES ! With Izzy's embroidered dress completed I had nothing to do....

But there is always something on the back burner... Its not perfect by a long shot, but it was quick and fun and car-friendly

and shows a surprising amount of decorum.......

Obviously I am still not quite myself.

  1. I am heading to (or through) Bendigo this week too, but I am taking knitting in the car, 'cause it would be bad to cuss in front of the kids...

  2. Oh what a delightful way to do that expression!! One of my children just saw it & gasped, she thought it was pretty cool (she's my dark one, naughty but nice, you would love her Jodie, she's the evil twin but too adorable).
Seeing you did it in the car, you could hang in there, like those awful 'baby on board' signs or worse, a football team supporter thingy. I can imagine honking approval at that.
Kudos to your husband for reminding you to take craft OR are you a back seat driver?? Was this to keep you quiet?? Love Posie

  3. He he... I have tried stitching in the car and gave up to save my poor fingers from being pricked by the needle and my stitches end up all wobbly. Maybe I should try again.
Must be a music vibe in the air at the moment. Hubby and I escaped the house and child and pretended we were young again and went to see Megan Washington at the Karova Lounge in Ballarat. It was heaps of fun.

  7. Love it. I really need to be much mroe prepared in the car then my other half wouldn't have to listen to me telling him how to drive. Charlotte thought it was great too, she's peering over my shoulder.

  19. I knew you were a woman of multitudinous talents, Jodie (or should I say @%&#ing talented)but had not realised that being able to stitch in a moving car without puking was one of them...
PS: I haven't drunk anything alcoholic today but my word verification is 'raterse' - strange and oh so not true...

  20. Oh Jod, I knew I liked you for a good reason. Haven't I told you that my daughter is the love child of John Butler? I saw JBT here in Adelaide three weeks ago. Absolutely ACE. I got right up the front with the young 'uns. So fab! I see them every time they come to lil' ol' adelaide. My husband thinks I am JBT insane.

And to quote Spiderbait (another of my fave bands) your new bit of car craftiness shows 'You're *%@#! awesome!'.

  24. John Butler is about the only person I know that can get away with having 15-20 minute long guitar solos!! Saw him at Big Day Out way back when! ;) Probably 2001 I think. Nice disguised expletives! ;)

  28. wow there is no way I could stitch in the car - though do so when I am on the train leaving Bendigo!

  29. I wish wish wish I could craft in the car. When we drive the 500kms to sydney at get so agitated at it being such a waste of time just sitting there- it drives me bonkers!

  30. Hi Jodie,

that would be lovely to do in the car, but I tend to be on sustenance and entertainment duty...perhaps i need one of those LOL

    Hugs, Sharon

  31. that would be perfect for little ones as you could use that as a speech bubble when they really drove you nuts & they'd be none the wiser.
but then you'd probably get.."what's that say mum" about a million times & then that would drive you even more nuts. pfffttt..can't win!
    LOVE it!

  32. And there I was thinking it was er, just me that said that!! Phew! You've made a middle-aged Griffin very happy!! :)

I believe medieval women used to embroider that exact same word when their men came back from fighting something/one! But they would then say, 'Oh dash it all, the boys are home!'

  33. Beautiful, precise stitching! How many thread strands is that?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh, I like your hubby better than mine. Mine says (or rather grunts on occasion) "Are you crocheting or do you want to drive?" To be fair, I prefer to drive if I don't have crocheting on the go. Can't sit in the car doing nothing.

  35. Perfection in embroidery is what I would call that.

    ReplyDelete
  36. How come you can sew so neatly in the car Jodie? Wish I could!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I can't sew in the car... it has to be stopped ai can't concentrate on the project at hand...glad you are feeling slightly better... I loved your post about the workshops with the kids

  38. Your stitchery is utterly utterly fab but I kind of couldn't get past Mr RicRac reminding you to take some car-craft. You obviously have him very well trained!
