Could you just lift your feet?

I have been having a bit of a blog-tidy for the start of the holidays. It has always bothered me that when I make stories on my blog, they run backwards, and they have other posts in the middle and generally aren't all that readable.
So yesterday I made two new pages...see up there under the header? I made a new page for Ernst's story and a new page for the Bus Stop story (that bus stop page took hours !!!!! I am not joking, so if it's a bit wonky just don't tell me, I am ignoring it!).

This is one of two cushions covers I whipped up on Monday from the delightful new range of fabrics from the talented Melly for Creative Abundance. The fabric is called 'Where the wind blows' and it features whimsical hot air balloons, little seedy pods , flowers, butterflies, and my favourites, the pinwheels. It also has the teeniest tiny text on it that just killed me when I saw it.

Melly generously sent me a stack of fat quarters - see no matter how much I want to seethe with jealousy over her amazing talents, she subverts me by being totally gorgeous and generous ! This new line of fabric will be available in a few weeks , so have a quiet word in the ear of your local patchwork / craft shop owner and get your hands on some.

Tonight, I am attending the ASG Convention as a guest, after-dinner speaker. In some ways I am quite calm about these speaking things - I mean, I get to talk about sewing and blogging so its not as if I will run out of things to say......but this is the first time I am 'talking' outside my comfort zone. The other times I have always had a fairly stacked audience with at least the odd half-dozen bloggers that I 'blog-know' smiling and nodding at me from their seats. I have to admit to having the weird stomach flip-flops when I think about tonight. I mean this is a guild for goodness sake, a guild ! What if there is a secret handshake? Hell what if they take one look at my 'stuff ' and kick me out.... I'm hoping they serve the audience alcohol at dinner.

  1. I hope they don't serve you too much alcohol at dinner and be grateful Chris won't be in the audience. They will love you Jodie!

  2. Hope it all went swimmingly. If your talk was anything like the last one of yours I heard, it would have been grand.

  6. Nice one on your blog tidy-up. I'd not seen any of the bus stop story before & I so love it.

Great to have my favourite turtle's story all together like that too. Even though I have my own Ernst living with me now I still love to go back & read his story from time to time.

Hope your talk went well & thanks for all you do to keep me amused. x

  11. Got back from hols last night and as I drove past BGS today I saw the sign for the 'ASG Convention' there on the fence. Having no idea what the 'ASG' stood for I made up a few witty 'it could mean......' (well, they were witty to me and two young children but I won't embarrass myself by telling you what they were!!)

Then tonight I find out that it is a sewing thing and you're speaking there!!! Hope you had fun.....

  12. Great cushion, great fabrics - hey ... I'm a member of the Guild - but I'm not at the convention - I'm guessing that 90% wouldn't even know what a blog is - but I'm sure they all do now - I'm looking forward to hearing your report back!! Well done to the organisers for organising YOU!

  16. Ah yes, we knew her when. From tidied blog to books is just a short step. School libraries all over the world will feature books by Ric-Rac. Your photos tell the stories in any language. Love them!

  19. Completely after the fact, this post didn't appear to me...grr. AND my DSL/broadband is doing a disappearing act as and when it feels like it.

BUT... I'm sure you were fabulous and they were all dead impressed and if they weren't they know not a good thing when they see it. A personal appearance from Craft Royalty/Rock Star, they better look sharp!

That fabric is sooo pretty. It's only going to be available in Australia and New Zealand. Which means I can't get any.... :(

    Lovin the patchwork.

    Cheers,
    AJ

  20. Love the blog-tidy-up, and reading the Bus Stop story was a good way to take a break from all the grading (I'm a proffie at the local community college).

I do enjoy your blog. Usually I'm mostly a lurker; however, today I thought I should come out of the shadows.

    Thanks!

  25. I am the person who asked Jodie to talk at the ASG convention - she made the week for many people, her hears must have been burning - we were all talking about the fun presentation, blogging, holey tights and lots of toys - you are a star

  26. How funny - on the 21/9 I did a REinventing Fashion Talk for the same Guild only different Chapter. I too was a little nervy however they were one of the most responsive audiences I've ever had - no alcohol but lots of yummy snacks!
I've only just discovered your blog and am enjoying your whimsy very much!
