Yesterday (with apologies to those nice young boys from liverpool)

Yesterday,
All my talents seemed so far away,
now my unpicker is here to stay,
Oh, I really sucked yesterday.

Suddenly,
I'm not half the crafter I used to be,
There's a shadow hanging over me,
Oh, EITTTS* came suddenly.

Why it
went to shite , I don't know, I couldn't say.
I did, nothing right,
yes, I sucked yesterday.

Yesterday,
craft was not an easy game to play,
and my projects need to hide away,
Oh, I really sucked yesterday.

*E.I.T.T.T.S (Everything I touch turns to shit)
- An unfortunately strange and re-occurring malady previously referenced here and here...
Stay alert , my friends.

  1. I have a touch of EITTTS today, too. It must be going around.

  2. That is horrible however good to see that I am not the only one with shitty luck at the moment. Hang in there. x

  3. I'm afraid the picture of the shears next to the shorn tape measure made me laugh. I'd say I'm sorry, but I'm still giggling.

Maybe you need to watch 'The Knack... and How To Get It'.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Is it doing the rounds? Maybe I should stay in today just in case...

  5. I knew I shouldn't laugh, but I couldn't help it. I have those kind of crafting/sewing days quite often. And then I went and read your links to old posts and almost died laughing when I came across the word "craftectomy". Here's to hoping you quit cutting up your measuring tapes. And your arrangement of "yesterday" was spot on.

  6. Oh crappity crap crap crap! Thank goodness your rhyming and lyrical skills are still working.

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ooopsa. I've had a few of those moments this week. Cutting into things that shouldn't be cut! At least you have two work-free days to rectify the situation. Good luck!!

  8. I am so sorry you had such a bad day, but I just have to thank you for making me laugh (and getting that song stuck in my head). Hope you are having a better day. At least you werent hamstered????

  9. Oh no! Not the tape measure. You really have it bad don't you? Well, have a little lie down and maybe a cup of tea and a scone and throw all bad crafty evidence in the bin. We won't tell anyone. I'm sure it will be gone soon, it is probably just one of those 24 hour bugs. :)

  10. I'm sorry to hear you've got EITTTS Jodie. I have it about 80% of the time.

I think I've got your crafting mojo because eveything I touch in the last 24 hours is pure gold. I even baked an edible cake. Last time that occured was about 2006.

So if you don't mind I'll keep your mojo for another 24 hours because seldom do the crafting gods smile on me. You can have it back Monday I promise.

  11. Priceless! I'll never be able to listen to that song again without laughing out loud.

  12. Condolences to your tape measure.

  13. shit shit shit - sad to hear. hope it gets better very soon

    ReplyDelete
  14. it can strike any time anywhere. Hope you are better soon!

  15. Ugh! Sorry for the yuck-o day. BUT... being the crafter I am... I see that cute pink tape measure and think, "OOOH! That would make an awesome embellishment on one of my cards!" LOL! Maybe you should take up paper crafting & those 'oopsie' moments turn into something totally CUTE! :)

  16. I so know the feeling - but I have to admit I was checking the verses for scansion ;-)

Guess I'll always be more of a singer than a crafter. LOL

  17. I think the EITTTS is like a yawn, it's an ongoing affliction that flits by ALL of us every now and then. This is your little turn but before you know it, it'll move on to the next one of us.
    Wishing you un-cut tape measures.

  18. Oh no! Days like that are so frustrating. But at least that was yesterday - tomorrow will be much different. (Your song was very funny, by the way!)

  19. You crack me up! I loved your rendition of "Yesterday". It is such a relief to people like me that people like you (crafters/sew-ers whom I admire) have things turn to shite, too. Thanks for sharing the bad with the good - and for having a sense of humor! Love it!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oooopsy. I hope things get better soon, Can relate some days..

You need to come up for a drink with us.....

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey Jod,
    Don't feel so bad.
You were made to be a creator
Remember don't let the EITTTS get under your skin,
    and then you can start
    to create much better ;-)

Hee!Hee! Don't think I'm a talented as you when it comes to writing lyrics!
    Hugs
    Jo

  22. Oh I can so relate to this post! I've just spent several hours trying to get my oh so simple project right!

    Love the lyrics!

  23. Jodi, I think there is a major EITTTS going on, cos I have it too....
You could take up song writing...don't know what I could do, cos I don't sing either!
Poor tape measure...you didn't tell us what it did to deserve that treatment...or did it just get in the way?
Chin up, better times are on the way...I can feel them!

  24. Oh thanks Jod...
I needed a good laugh today... not at your expense of course, but in sheer skin tingling relief that I in fact am normal!!!

    :P

    ReplyDelete
  25. If previous bouts are anything to go by, you'll get better soon and astound us with your craftiness...

    ReplyDelete
  26. I am glad you chose the song Yesterday, and not Today or the EITTTS might be there a bit longer, I hope it has all cleared up now. Wishing you a good Tomorrow.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Bugger!!

Hopefully tomorrow you'll be singing "good day sunshine"?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Considering how many good days you have the ratio is probably in your favour. Having said that, a shit day is a shit day is a shit day! Maybe it's time for a nice cold glass of something and a dvd? Or dinner out and a movie? Something fun to change the mood? Good luck Toots xo

    ReplyDelete
  29. I agree with Beck, the odds are still in your favour fior a good day tommorrow. x

    ReplyDelete
  30. So what article can you make from previously prepared (cut) tape measures?

PS Hope you get your mojo back soon.

    ReplyDelete
  31. You're too funny! Love your version of "Yesterday".

I've got the EITTTS today. I'm trying to foundation piece a block and it just isn't happening, I've spent more time unpicking than sewing and I've had ENOUGH!!! I'm going to sulk for a little while now and then try again!

Hope you had better luck than me today!

    Hugs
    Kelly :-)

  32. At least you got a great song out of it. I know what I will be singing all day!
I hope the craft muze will be with you soon again.

  33. g'day Jodsta... sticky tape fixes most things.. if not sticky tape then duct tape (its the force that holds the universe together).. I have 'those' days but I put on my big girly gruds and put my chins UP and get on with it petal!!!

  34. Yesterday
Those naughty gremlins had a place to stay
They needed a crafter on whom to pray
And Jod was that girl, yesterday

    Today
Vik has got some magic gremlin spray
She will post some on its merry way
So Jod's EITTTS will go away...

    Urm......insert instrumental here...

    Have a great weekend Jod!
    Vik xoxooxoxox

    Tomorrows a new day Jodi.

  37. Sorry but I loved "Yesterday" as well. Hope "Today" is better.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Don't fret Jod! We all know it is just a passing bout of EITTTS and you will soon be in fine form again!

    Locket xxx

  39. There must be a strain of EITTTS going around now, I've been suffering from it on occasion lately too.
I hope you'll recover and get your crafting groove back quickly!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ummm...I'd love to be up to your EITTTS standards, my best efforts aren't even bloggable. Loved the song though!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Too funny! Your poetry was great though!

    ReplyDelete
  42. in other news you were certainly awesome at re-writing a song to fit your needs, and be funny, and rhyme!!

hang in there, seems your creativity may have just shifted around in your head a little bit, it'll work it's way back :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. It's a dirty story of a sucky day
And only a crafter can understand.
You'll soon recover and be on your way
But you need a little luck if you wanna be a Wonderful Crafter!

    Or even a Paperback Writer!

You'll be alright Jodie, it's only one day and after all... tomorrow is another day as Scarlett O'Hara once said.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Had to smile when I saw your measuring tape. Mine hangs off a wall peg rack and recently I reorg'ed the room, placing my paper shredder under that rack.
Yes ma'am - tattered end! Fortunately only lost 2.5 inches -exactly!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks for the chuckle! Must print this out for the next time I have one of those days :-)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Buahhahhahhaa! ( x 100)
You kill me. I locked myself in the bathroom today... Had to kick the door open. It is broken now and I wait for my husband to see it... The final nail to the coffin so to say.

    ReplyDelete
  47. LOVe it, and it's a total keeper, will stash it away for when needed.

    ReplyDelete
  48. ROFL!! You are so funny! Doesn't sound like a fun day, though. I hope it turns around real soon :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hang in there honey - the genius that rewrote those lyrics will return in the form of craft mojo I know it..

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hi Jodie,

Sometimes you just have to walk away (and do a little composing LOL) and read a book or go for a walk...it will be better tomorrow :)

    lots of hugs,
    Sharon

  51. A sign of the times, I have been unpicking and tracking back, and the unpicker is blunt.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oh no, if i get like that i don't even unpick, take a deep breath & start from scratch again to see if it was a cutting fault/ brain freeze that lead me to screw up something i could normally do in my sleep. Good luck getting back the Everything I Touch Turns To Magic again. You can do Jodie, love your work, love Posie

  53. It's a phase. It will pass. For me, it ussually coincides with my machine turning to custard. Don't you love that!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Thanks for keeping it real. Gives me hope as I bumble along ...

    ReplyDelete
  55. oh dear!!!! hope the E.I.T.T.T.S leaves soon....

    Hugs
    Jodie :)

  56. A sense of humor goes a long way on days like that. As do strong drinks. And swearing. (Swearing while downing strong drinks is also recommended.)

You're an amazing crafter/sewer/designer. In short, my hero. Heroes can have bad days, too. Remember Superman and Kryptonite? See?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Oh how I know those days. Perhaps a touch of Annie? "tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya tomorrow you're only one bad crafty day away.

    ReplyDelete
  58. oh you always crack me up! you'll need a section to the right of your blog with all your jodie-ism's! they are hilarious!!!!!!!

    corrie:)

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh Jodie, cutting through your tape measure - tragic (if not just a little bit funny, can't believe you took a photo of it!). Hope things are better for you tomorrow!

    ReplyDelete
  60. I hope your EITTS is better today, Jodie. Mind you, I think I have a touch of it myself - thanks for sharing (not)... Looking forward to Sew It Together and the Daylesford stitching day; hopefully I will not be bringing EITTS with me...Have a great week.

  61. Funny - I had an issue with the blanket I was making yesterday. The flannel fabric wouldn't stop sticking to the cotton batting when I was trying to layer the quilt, and I ended up having to hand tie it because it wasn't taught enough to machine quilt. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I love it!!! Not that you have EITTS... but that you have found a name for that horrid disease that strikes us all at some time or another... oh and the fact that you've been able to turn it into a song - that's brilliant!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Sorry and also hilarious. At least all your days of crafting aren't shite like mine ;)

    ReplyDelete
  64. Don't worry - tape measures don't cost that much!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh dear . . . hope you found the right buttons

  66. As Judith Viorst put it so aptly: "Some days are like that, even in Australia." (You do remember Alexander, don't you?)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Sweetness, if it makes you feel better, even when you're not half the crafter you used to be, you are still twice the crafter I'll ever be.

  71. Hey girl!
    Don't take it bad.
Take that sad song and make it bettererererer.
Remember, to let craft into your heart,
    then you can start
    To make it better!

  72. I always say if we don't laugh at ourselves or our situation, we'd just cry....(thats what we really want to do, but crying gives us puffy eyes and a red nose) ;)

    ReplyDelete
  73. Huh! I'm going to have that song in my head all day....

Guess what my Google word verifications is?
    barwhee (no shit)!

    See ya tomorrow night!!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Ohhhh!!! I know just how you feel. I went through a whole stack of wedged for a dresden plate quilt I'm working on. I sewed almost ALL of them at the wrong end. Sigh..... I feel your pain girl :)

  75. someone needs to come up with a craft project for cut tape measures - I seem to have a penchant for that bloody skill!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Oh I have days like that...though it does seem like you had a bit of a doozie! Thanks for putting that song in my head too. I'm going to be humming it all day.

  78. You got EITTTS, I got gastro. Which is EITTTS taken to literal extremes. Hmmm, it's a tough call which one I'd prefer frankly! At least mine was cureable with a needle in the but.

PS you were in Notebook. I read it whilst convalescing. FaMOUS.

    ReplyDelete
  79. aw bless... I think my last few months have been like that but the last week or so things have turned around and I seem to be crafting for the love of it again... and feeling happier in myself too...
