Have you ever fiddled something into existence, only to find that you are completely unsure about it?
I saw a tutorial for making paper gift wrap thingy's recently ( I have no idea where) and when I was chopping the tails of all the too-long zippers...I fiddled these similar little doo-dads....

I am not sure if they are totally cool or totally naff ! Actually the more I think about it - the more I am leaning toward totally naff.
But then I fiddled this one into existence from the tape measure stash.......

Yes, the tape measure looks way,way better.

The tape measure one looks the best to me, but the zipper ones aren't too bad. I guess it's because you can't really tell what they are unless you look closer at them, yknow? With the tape measure bow, someone would automatically think, "whoa!" Haha, did that make sense? Anywho, they're still great. =]
I think fiddling is all part of learning - the tape measure one looks great - isn't it funny how great tape measures look in our work? I guess it's a symbol of our work and we can all relate to it ... fiddle away!!!

Great doo-dat ideas. How great would they look on a gift for a handmade item. Just goes to show you can make anything out of crap (oops, should have typed anything out of nothing) LOL !!!

I do like the idea, though!! I think that the first ones are on the right track to being cool - they just need to be way more dramatic. Like bigger, and with more loopies added onto them so they're fluffier. Ya know?

I think maybe if the zipper ones hat some fabric petals behind them as well it would work much better... I love the measuring tape one though.. I want measuring tape.. that may be the strangest thing I have ever wanted... erm

I like them all, except maybe the green one. Maybe if the loops were smaller it would look neater? I think they'd be cute on a little tote intended for carrying around a sewing project.

Thanks for putting the pictures of the zipper thingos up even if you didn't like them! I think that they'd be alright on a crafty type present... but I'm loving the tape measure one!! You don't know till you try!! How are you going with your list of things to get done?! How long to go now?! Hope everything is going really well. :)

Where do you find all these ideas? I'm so envious. Love the flowers but have to confess I like the zip ones - the petals do need to be a bit smaller though - either that or use a bigger zipper. I have other things to do today but goodness me I really want to try these...vbg.

I've seen some zipper jewellery somewhere before - shall send you a link when I can remember where it was. I think it needs the metal teeth to make it look most effective - but I think that your brooches all look great!
Love the tape measure one. The zipper ones are OK, but a bit difficult to see that they are in fact made of zippers - maybe if you used those heavier metallic zippers? But then you wouldn't get them in all those cute colours, I suppose...
