This is not heirloom sewing

I have been on a bit of a promise to make up a PVC wallet.

Figuring that I had EITTTS on the run by now, I thought I'd give it a go.

Hey presto !

Then I got to wondering how it would look if I used a photo, so I printed Seamus out on some ink jet printer fabric.

Then I decided to make that I will actually use.......so here it is. School report circa Yr 10 (age about 16).

That last comment states "Jodie shows little interest in computing + spends far too much time being a nuisance"

In my defence I'd like to state that I did computing twice a week for a whole year and that man never once mentioned blogging !!!

  4. I'm a teacher and if I ever wrote that on a kid's report card I would be immediately fired and shunned from the community.

  5. Love these! I am so uncrafty and have no idea how you do your magic, but it is fun to look at. I love polka dots! Maybe you should put some in your etsy shop--hint hint ;) Happy New Year! xx

  11. I am giggling at your report card.. looks a little like mine! I was a nerdberger at school, but never applied myself enough or was talking too much!

I have crapcraftitis at the moment too.. all my 120 blocks I made for a mystery are 1/4" too small.. poop.. so I am making sure I stuff up the rest by 1/4".. I do stuff up REAL well :O)

  20. they are brilliant.. I have a real ting about items with writting on them.. I keep chickening out on actually buying any fabric with writing on it...

Ithink my report cards went along the lines of "Apryl has potention but spends far too much time day dreaming out the window" hmm

  21. These are lovely.
    I'll put them on my to-do-list. :-)

  23. I have lurked for some time and apologise for having the poor manners to do so. I have revealed myself because that report card comment is hilarious. Just goes to show how little teachers know sometimes...

  24. didn't even have computers when I was in school!

  25. I love the innovative use of your report card! I've only recently come across your blog, but it has become one of my regular reads - great stuff! Happy new year to you and yours!

  26. Great project as usual. No computers when I was in school. Jeez am I that old? Computing when I was in school was adding and subtracting without calculators!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Truly fabulous Jodie! When are you putting them in your shop? I'm sure we would all enjoy the laugh of reading your report each day! I really can't imagine you as being talkative or a nuisance at all!!!

  28. I LOVE those little wallets! Brilliant! and those buttons are fantastic! Make some wallets and brooches and sell them in your etsy store- you'll have a buyer!

  29. So cute!! You have real talent! Any more on writing that book????????

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ha! You kicked the EITTTS into touch then? Those are fabulous wallets - I especially love the report one. I found a load of my old reports when I moved - must blog them. They're quite funny. They seem to repeat themselves though ... or else I really did talk too much.

My word verification is 'comed' - that's what I did. I comed, I readed and I commented.

  34. They're Fabulous! I love the report card idea, says you talked quite a bit in class - I'm betting you still do! Weirdly I've just read big daughters report (that she's hidden for 2 weeks), quite similar actually...

  35. Looks great. I love the polka dots.

  36. Great work - the report card was a novel idea.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Now that has to be the best use of a school report I have ever seen! I'm still laughing. The wallets are fantastic. See, that computing class was worth it, despite your teacher's comments!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Very cute! Love the monkey. Doesn't it feel good to prove nay-sayers wrong? You sure did.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Laugh laugh LAUGH at your computing report! You should send that computer teacher a link to your blog and say "see!!!"

    And your wallets are great.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Great wallets!! Being a PVC sewer I appreciate how tricky that would be!
Really loved the report, i have just looked through some of mine but cannot find the one that said, "Tracey should never sew!!" ...or very similar!

  41. I love what the computer teacher said - "nuisance" hehehehe! :)

I rather like that you didn't listen to his judgment and learned how to use the computer.:)

  42. i love it! what a clever idea!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Love the nuisance comment...we wouldn't get away with that these days, although as a teacher I would love to be blunt and to the point sometimes. The mind bulges with phrases I could use!
    Love the wallets...very special! Cathy

  44. Love the wallets - Seamus looks very funky. Even better is the report card. My theory is that its better to have had someone say you weren't fully applying yourself, than it was that you were slogging your guts out and absolutely cr*p!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm glad to see that you are finally applying yourself! Hee, hee.
I love the report card and Seamus.
    You are amazing.

    That cracks me up.

  47. How clever, lovely and unique!

  48. ROFL. I love that wallet! All my school reports said "Marie is a very conscientious student". How totally non-descript is that?? LOL. I always wondered what exactly they meant by that.

    Happy New Year to you.

  49. I love the 'spends far too much time being a nuisance' comment! I knew there was a reason I liked you!! :)

I keep telling friends that I'm a nuisance but they won't believe me. It's so disappointing.

I'm glad you are still talking quite a bit in class and making lots of sense with it. So nyah to teacher!

  50. Do I see a 'must apply herself' classic comment from my report card days?
I think they may have been on to something with me.

    ReplyDelete
  51. lovely wallet-the last comment is too funny!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. ha ha. I'm not sure how old you are, but we didn't get computers in our school until I was about 15. They were huge and ran one program - a thing where you typed some words and it spoke it back to you. Obviously within about 10 minutes we moved on from 'hello' to...um... stuff you wouldn't say in front of the vicar and we all got told off and I can't remember ever using a computer in school again.
    I LOVE that wallet.

  53. love these wallets! the report card is great!

  54. That's HYSTERICAL!!! What a FANTASTIC and clever idea. I'm thinking there's some sort of smokin' going on in your house -- these ideas of yours are AMAZING!!!

  55. I LOVE the report wallet Jod. I'd like to dig my "talent is masked by her awful, uncontrollable, attention seeking behaviour". Ouch...still stings a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Haha..., love your report card wallet.

    ReplyDelete
  57. oh if that 'computing' teacher could see you now! I guess computing is maths? or was it really computers? I vaguely remember computers in secondary school - they were so basic - we used to play a game called 'grannies garden' on old BBC computers. Did you have these in Aus too - a far far cry from a laptop on your knees in bed on a Saturday lunchtime!
