Saturday Night

I was at a thing recently and was introduced to a woman with great earrings.
In the course of the conversation she mentioned she had a blog.

She told me she blogged about things that were current and things that were trending.
She used the word "leverage" a lot.
She  'works towards' brands.

She loathes personal blogs
She writes guest posts
She attends a lot of  really important events
She said blogging uses her voice in a stronger way than other social media

She never blogs on Saturday nights,
Cool people don't blog on Saturday nights.

  1. bahahahaha! And cool people are obviously not reading them on Saturday nights either! At least you wont have to worry about her reading this, this has 'personal blog' written ALL over it. PS Now I want to look her up like crazy!

  2. Helloooooooo!
    Saturday night blogger here!

  3. If only I could think of a 'cool' comment, but they all came out a bit mean. And that's not nice, when we're settling down for a lovely Saturday evening of reading all the fun blogs with not a lever or brand advancement in sight.
    Love your work.

  4. She is obviously not one of the "cool kids" who has a personal blog, gets to stay at home on a Saturday night in her trackies and slippers and write or read blogs. And gets to spend really important time on the sofa with a cat on her knee.

  5. Well I don't think I'll bother with her blog ...... I don't want to be levered into trending sounds painful....I bet she never stitches in her pj's on a Saturday night either ... AND I bet she doesn't have a cute mouse in a hat either

  6. ROFLMAO Oh well Jodie lets start a blog and call in "The Uncool Saturdays". Can only be written on on a Saturday night, I bet it will have so many posts we will have it "trending" before she knows it. Oh she won't will she cause she doesn't like personal blogs, oh well we won't ask her for a guest post then. What an absolutely stupid woman. Only the best of us have no life and are home on Saturday nights able to blog. xx

    1. YES, YES, YES! Let's start the Saturday Night Blog. Heck, sometimes I'm on the computer at 3 AM because I woke up too early. I'm definitely not trending and wouldn't know leverage if I saw it.

  10. Yours words always make me grin, especially on a Saturday nights, life is too short to listen to people like that!

  11. Maybe the metal she uses in her earrings is lead!!
Although, maybe it is not cool to stalk a certain toy pattern maker to see what fabrics I need to be stashing this week.
I am so glad that you are not one of the cool people, because you bring joy and happiness to my Saturday night - so claim Saturday for the uncool among us who love to see what you have been up to!!

  12. I love your bold irreverence and my guess is you don't care if she reads this, it was just a better poke in the eye if posted on Saturday night.

  13. Oh my god, here we all are being soo uncool on a Saturday night! How will we live with ourselves?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Well, you're cool to me, and that's all I care about ;)

    ReplyDelete
  15. Maybe she reserves Saturday night for removing the lint from her belly button and arranging her earrings.
I don't think she should underestimate the strength of other peoples blog voice….
    :)

  16. Well I glad I'm in such good company on a Saturday night. I'm with Quiltygal as I sit here in my pj's sipping a nice cup of tea reading what I consider trendy and above all else a cool (OMG I always tell my 16 yo DD that I hate that word) blog and one that I think is always good for a laugh, which obviously some people who have blogs don't do. Did you get a word in or just listen lol?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Listening did not appear to be her strong point.

    2. OMG how hard was it for you to not talk ...........i mean really.............you not talk..........can't believe you didn't get some words in....................lol

  17. Glad you came away unscathed. And, by the way I don't read non personal blogs (but maybe if they were written on a Saturday night...)

  18. I am so not cool I haven't even made it to Saturday night yet and I am reading personal blogs. I kind of feel a little sad that blogging is so much about being monetised and focused now.

    ReplyDelete
  19. What a twit - she obviously doesn't realise we're all cool and she' s not! I hope you didn't hold back on the unladylike snorty noises when she was spouting all that crap, Jod!

    ReplyDelete
  20. OOOh how droll darling...imagine having to suffer such personality....it would really do my head in and fancy having to tolerate a night out with it even worse a Saturday night

    ReplyDelete
  21. I am reading this in my pjs on Saturday night (with a thimble on one finger as I am multi-tasking). How uncool!
Thank goodness we are past high school and know that there is more to life than being cool and trendy.
Like funny and creative and brilliant ... Like Jodie!

  22. Wow. Just goes to show you never know who you're talking to. You're too cool in my books Jodie! ♥★★★♥

    ReplyDelete
  23. OMG look at all the people reading your blog on a Saturday night/Sunday morning. I definately get the impression that you do't give a flying fig what people think... so refreshing. Ha ha.

    ReplyDelete
  24. she sounds like the kind of blog I'd barely give 2 mins before clicking away! ugh.

you don't need leverage. you're a RockStar. (Pink, the song So What, I'm a Rockstar, you know it?)

Honestly you could blog about a muddy puddle and it would end up as the cutest muddy puddle in the world, you just see things. and make things. and that wee guy is about as cool as anyone could bear.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Sounds like a great list of "What not to do" obviously you have the upper hand! Giving this little guy all that TLC on Saturday night!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Cool is over rated... Glad to be free of the need to be cool!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I thought leverage was a T.V.show, It is cool not to be cool, how cool is that!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Why do people now think that with social media their opinion is more important (and right) then anyone elses? We are fast becoming a very self centred society, so much so that sometimes I feel like I am stuck in high school! ...so on with the important personal blogging, where small fabric creatures are our rulers and dictate our Saturday night activities, I bow down to yea!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I love great earrings and I just blogged on Saturday night! I'm a rule breaker.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I guess it takes all types...

    ReplyDelete
  31. my unpierced ears and lack of brand in my blog would make her shudder hehe

    ReplyDelete
  32. I've said this before but I shall say it again: I love your blog and your followers write the BEST comments! I find entertainment and inspiration every time you post. Thanks for the fun! ;p

  33. Haha so glad I am not part of the cool crowd, wouldn't give up my Saturday night blog reading for all the the ads in China!

  34. The lady is so pathetic that she is almost funny, poor thing.

    ReplyDelete
  35. would love to have been a fly on the wall for that convo lol.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Is there a feminine form of the word 'w*nker'? ...just asking? lol

    ReplyDelete
  37. Clearly she has no idea. All the cool people are blogging and reading blogs on Saturday night.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Yes, this is funny AND I love that you posted it on Saturday night. I wonder what the Sunday night stats are?

    ReplyDelete
  39. She's a wanker!
You can bet your bottom dollar that her blog is a cynical money maker. She promotes stuff and ideas that she gets financial consideration for.
    How boring can one get?
We love your work Jodie. Don't ever change.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Well there is a place for everyone....clearly your blog and all of the personal blogs out there in blog land aren't the place for her, especially on Saturday night! Her interpretation of "cool" obviously doesn't mean the same thing as ours....I wonder if she has trouble breathing with her nose so high in the air? Let's hear it for Saturday night blogging for all of us REAL people!

    ReplyDelete
  41. Uck!! My goodness that person sounds like she is important in her own world! Does she realise that a blog is actually a personal web-log!

    ReplyDelete
  42. The risk of meeting people like her are the reason I don't like going to 'things' much.

    ReplyDelete
  43. She must have been at your family gathering...and squeaked a lot!

    ReplyDelete
  44. My goodness, that would make a person think twice before complimenting a pair of earrings or attending a "thing"...such a lot of opinions. Bless her heart.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Hope she felt "more cool" after tooting her horn so much...........

    ReplyDelete
  46. ha ha what a tool!

Only cool people blog on saturday nights!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Full marks to you for spending such a long time talking to someone who must have been very boring.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh my, how on earth did you not say anything rude to this woman! Probably because she didn't stop to draw breath or ask you one single question about yourself!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Ah, yes. The 'new-style- blogger who believes it's all about making money and growing 'the audience' rather than saying something original and finding a pile of like-minded people who enjoy reading it. A workmate forwarded me this article which made me shudder: http://mumbrella.com.au/weeklys-fashion-blogging-investigation-highlights-transparency-issues-reveals-jacenkos-instagram-rate-card-210340
