pardon the arse crack

Quilt quilt quilt...blah blah blah.
The real issue here is those pants. PULL THEM UP- YOU OWN BELTS DUDE!...Who started this crap anyway ? More importantly when will it end ?

I seriously do not want to be in the nursing home looking out of one good but watery eye and seeing some old codger with 6 inches of Y-front poking up out of his flannel P.J's. If it is you there next to me...you know where its going don't you ? I'm going to turn to you, my octogenarian blog-buddy and with a small smile, I'm going to whisper..."let's dack that sucker"

Will you be with me?

  3. Give the poor guy a break....maybe they shrunk in the wash.

PS. I am sooo photographing a quilt that way in the future. Am I allowed to copy, I think you will start a trend!

  4. OMG I love the quilt, not so taken with the low rider pants though. See lots of those at my work and I always want to tell them to pull them up

  5. "Let's dack that sucker"?!! I have a feeling I should be relieved on many levels that I'm unfamiliar with that phrase ...

  6. ... and dack him good!

You'd think the boys would think better of it when they see some fat arsed hairy tradesman bending over. No one needs to be reminded of that..... ;)

  7. Lovin' the quilt and had to laugh at the ass shots! Where did the trend start? I work in a fairly trendy shop and I see this all the time but it's not just kids it's grown men with their butt hanging out of their jeans - whats worse though is half the time they have grotty elastic giving way shorts on show!

  8. Poor boy, obviously his mother spends more time fiddling with soft toys than helping him buy some proper fitting clothes.
Maybe a nice pair of braces would help, like those stylish ones kids wore in the 70's

  10. I'm thinking we'll be long gone before that get-up makes it into nursing homes. Like you though, I too wonder why they are still wearing their pants like this?

  11. The crack and jock shots are one thing but, God, there must be chaffing where the lower than usual crotch region meets the thigh?!?!?!?! Don't they have nerve endings, these young folk?

Let's just hope our arms are functioning in the nursing home so that the dacking is do-able!

    ReplyDelete
  12. You crack me up. Sorry for the pun. Oh I see someone else used it as well. Hard to resist. At least his pants are above the knees. I think perhaps the arse crack showing all began with plumbers.

  13. Good to know that the U.S. isn't the only country with the same issue. I think that suspenders need to make a come back.

  14. But he is wearing a belt...go figure?! Is this a re-enactment of the wagon wheel from the brownlow? Its a refreshing photo shoot, truely I just wondered!

Hate to break it to you but when we get to nursing homes, although I am all for dacking (!), I am afraid we will all be wearing Depend or some other adult nappy....old age its a (#*#(!!
Still its better then having your own kid wipe your ....OK lets not go there...TMI!

So does Adelaide wear bloomers? Michelle Hill has a nice William Morris range out, just saying! Sue SA.

  15. I'm thinking it is just a boy thing. Our son used to have the same problem with his cloth nappies. We used to giggle over his "plummer's crack" until one day the three year old daughter yells to me "Muuummmm! Dan's cracked plums are showing!" - so now we giggle at his "cracked plums" LOL

  16. One to hopefully remember for the nursing home.
What's grey, wrinkly and hangs out grandpas pajamas? Grandma on washing day.
    Love the quilt

  20. What an original name for a quilt...;)

  21. So funny - we were talking about this on FB last week. I think that given "pants-falling-off-your-butt" has been in style for 21 years now (I know this because the first time I saw it in a cab, the driver and I did the jaw-drop burst into laughter thing) and when that happened I was pregnant with my now 21 year old son.

So, yeah. Probably not going out of style. Ergo, I'm with you!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Sheesh! I forgot!

    I LOVEEEEEEEE that quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Jeeez I needed a laugh - so glad I dropped in! You have the gift of the gab, my friend. I would be frickin' stoked to be in a nursing home with you! x

  24. I'm in.

Although at least the trousers are still on his bum. I see kids sloping around this hilltop with the beltline sitting UNDER their arses!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Who cares about the butt crack-LOVE that quilt! The design is genius, so simple. I've been looking for a design that I liked that showed off big prints. Thanks!

  26. I'm with you all the way - all the way Jodie!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Gorgeous quilt!

    I've never dacked anyone.

    I could be persuaded.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Beautiful quilt!

I thought it was bad when the sagging pants were baggy, but it's even more confounding when the pants are skinny. I have a very short nephew who sags his pants clear under his bum and does so even with a belt on. Naturally the low crotch makes him look even shorter. Very tiresome trend. Luckily my son outgrew that one before skinny pants came along.

  29. YES!!! I'm leading the charge!

  30. i do believe he's flippin' us off in one photo... i went through the teen son phase, and i can spot it a mile away! pardon me if i'm wrong... excellent quilt and photo shoot idea! julie

  31. Great photos! He looks like he's having a great time, just a boy and his blanket. You may be witness to the end of an era, so don't mind the underwear so much, enjoy the boy.
(I don't like it either, but my mother dispaired of my hip-hugger bell bottoms, and I turned out okay.)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Isn't it a little harsh to train the quilt to attack him for that?

Or did you tell the quilt to 'dack that sucker'?... I think we should be told.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Best blog title EVER!!! :D Oh and the quilt is nice too!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hiya! This is the first time I have read your blog and it definately will not be the last! *Saving to favourites*
Usually i'm not all that bothered about blogs for the writing (pretty pictures all the way) but i could sit and read yours all day! if you ever write a book, please let me know...

  35. Somebody told me that the style started out in prisons, and men did it when they wanted the other guys to know that... ermmm, they were "keen".
Haha! But i wonder how it caught on!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh I am joining that lynch mob for SURE! My 17 year old son usually has more arse above his jeans than encased in them. (He claims his belt is too loose. I offered to punch another hole. He politely declined.) To all the people who suggested suspenders, THANK YOU! I have rainbow elastic and had been wondering what to make for his christmas stocking.....

Oh yeah, fabulous quilt, and inspired photo shoot. Is there no end to your SPECTACULAR creativity? Man I hope not.

  37. I LOVE your blog - it's so funny and happy! AND i'm sooooooo with you on this one about the cracks - don't get it at all! Bring back braces, I say!!! :-)

    What a cracker!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hell yeah! You dack, and I'll wedge! A dual attack!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Your little spunk is wearing a belt.... pssst, it's not working. My beef is that my angel wears his jeans slung so low, the hems are tatty and yuk within weeks.
    Love the quilt. X

  41. Oh and I love the 'bird' in the last shot - made me laugh

    ReplyDelete
  42. Hehehehe very true! I
wonder if high waisted pants will come in for boys like they have done for girls??

    ReplyDelete
  43. You are so cool. Love the quilt and the hopping boy!

    ReplyDelete
  44. cannot see the crack... so (eyes wide) taken back with his JOY (cough cough) of holding your quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I'm so with you girlfriend.
If I only knew what "dack that sucker" meant.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Teach high school and spend far too much time saying"pull up your pants I don't want to see your shorts". In my science class when we do microscope work it' s particularly bad. Soooooo...I guess I could take the bed next to you on the ward at the oldies home but you would have to put up with my clacking false teeth since I'll probably grind these ones down to nubbins from looking at too many arse cracks. Thanks for the laugh..oh yeah, quilt's not too shabby either :)))

    ReplyDelete
  47. What a fab photo shoot - but will you ever get him to cooperate with you again after this??? Locket xxx

    ReplyDelete
  48. While at work with hubby one day I did offer to staple one tradies pants to his waist if he didn't stop showing me the same view your son has displayed to the world. Strangely enough the next day the young man wore a belt. Could it be I was scary???? Well done on the quilt - it looks amazing. Well done on the son too - he's pretty amazing too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. It has to be the most unusual way I have ever seen a new quilt photographed! You are a great one for making us smile Jodie (and yes, I'm with you!!)

PS What bribe, oops, sorry, "incentive" did you use to get hime to help you?

    ReplyDelete
  50. You're hysterical! I'll be right there with you in the nursing home LOL. Although, I think in this case, we should grant a little lee-way -- he posed with a lovely quilt! That's worth something!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Oh I will so help you Jodie, what are these gorgeous young men thinking of.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hilarious! I am so with you in the nursing home. I wish this would go out of style - I literally saw a young guy the other day with his pants half way down his thighs. He could hardly walk trying to keep them there! I felt like dacking him then and there...

    ReplyDelete
  53. Think he was pretty sporting to join in - I heard it was a prison thing as prisoners are not allowed belts so their trousers sag and the rappers started the trend when they were released. Maybe we should but them on lockdown until they hoist them back up?

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well I reckon that's got to be the best Quilt photo shoot ever, not to mention Dude! Go Dude!
I've seen far far worse and I'm sure you have too (cracks that is) *squint*
I was wondering.. what did Dude think of your post? :D
    Fabulous! As ever!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I can hardly type for laughing but do you think old codgers would be wearing y-fronts under their p.j's. If not then the view your going to get is even more frightening!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. As long as he remembers to actually wear those Y-fronts.. In my gran's nursing home they had a streaker - every afternoon when the staff were having their coffebreak, there he'd be, an octogenarian trotting naked down the hallway. My gran was worried he might catch a cold as he didn't have his slippers on! LOL

    Love the quilt!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Ha! I thought, there he is standing so nicely to display the quilt - until I saw his left hand. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh how lovely...I have used similar Moda fabric in a disappearing 9 square quilt for my little man. does this fabric have the clothes on it?

    ReplyDelete
  59. awesome photoshoot : )
and you are too funny - i am so with you on this!!

  60. Nice work, and the panties cracked me up. (Sorry.) Yesterday my daughter and I were driving along when she shrieked "Mommy, look!" Some young fellow was showing off his bright red boxers despite the 26-degree weather...and so the Year of the Arse Crack continues.
