Wednesday

Hi guys I am feeling a bit ranty which is a sure sign that I am tired and grumpy. It seems to be my resting state these days.
My fridge is almost covered in those postcards from kindly vets and eye doctors, and ladyparts doctors and every other reminder known to man. You know, the ones reminding you that missed a vaccination, examination, posturation, or elevation some months ago.  I do appreciate them, because it would not be possible for me to get a pet or a ladypart to the doctor every year without them.
I thinking " we just went to the vet" and suddenly the dog wouldn't be vaccinated four years. The same applies to the ladyparts doctors... Two years ? Are you serious? I'm still wincing. It can't be two years.
I know Christmas is coming, and I have documented my growing disassociation with it here on the blog before. Can I be arsed digging out the tree, assembling the tree, decorating the tree, protecting the tree from whatever weird cat cult ceremonies they want to perform on the tree, for it to sit in the corner until the big day, upon which folks will arrive, ignore the tree and spend the day eating foods in the garden ?
Maybe I could just throw some tinsel in the cherry tree.... (It would be more than I managed last year)
How are you doing? You ok.? Have you started, finished, ignored or ticked non-applicable to the craziness? Are you sick of every retail person in the world asking how you are going with your Christmas shopping? (Just laugh and say don't you mean Easter?- it stops them talking to you)
I finish real work on the 20th and then I am going to do some baking. i'm quite looking forward to day in the kitchen, in the quiet, on my own, baking stuff and drinking tea. In fact it sounds like freakin Nirvana right now.
My kids have given me no instructions and look set to recieve a stocking full of nothing on the day but we will have lunch under the cherry tree (weather permitting) and there will be tinsel.
(Oh yeah pictures aren't working. They can't be arsed either)

  1. I think of Christmas all year round, the feeling of god will to all, I make all my gifts, just little keepsakes really, little thank you gifts. I do not decorate, I mean, where do I start? so just doing the ACDA Christmas party is plenty of decorating for me, as for the food, I am more than happy to eat instant food, a couple of grapes or an apple or a banana, I do not cook anyway, so cooking something for Christmas would be a waste of time and food!

Speaking like a pro here but I have no idea where we will be for lunch or dinner on Christmas day and have to clean the lounge room to put up the tree etc.....
Test run some fairy lights tonight for a Xmas party next weekend and they looked good.....

  4. You are nearly there, summer holidays are right around the corner. I've done so much quilting in the last 10 days that I said yes to relief teaching tomorrow. I'm pretty sure I'm going to regret it.

  5. I usually like Christmas but I really can't be arsed this year. So much effort, so much excess but here I go doing it all as usual!

  6. wednesday. yes, I noticed that.

yon other thing is a Sunday. that's it, just Sunday. does not exist in my house, there aren't even visitors or food or a cherry tree with or without tinsel (blech, tinsel) we cancelled it all years ago. So I beat your canny be arsed.

I hope you can recharge your arse during the day job break.

  7. My Christmas boxes are packed and in the back of our tiny garage. Can't find my winter boots and it snowed yesterday. I managed writing Christmas cards yesterday, because it snowed. As for reminders, I'm overdue but I keep Abby on track. Tiny house and I just can't be arsed about it all this year.

  8. I have those same notices on my fridge and have several appointments this crazy season to have said exams. Decor is up in the house, but I'm more choosy and less appears every year. We will have a tree but haven't got it yet, I'm thinking simple decor there too. My kids also have given barely any instructions!

  9. I was a single parent for 13 years before I married my DH. I hated Christmas, easter, Fathers Day, Halloween, etc. Christmas trees are my bane. All you have to do is take it down. I hated Christmas because I didn't have a lot of extra "Santa money". I have dear sweet daughter who was always happy with all she got. But anyway. My DH will decorate a tree and the mantle and play Christmas music while I whisper Bah Humbug. Looking back, I know that had I given my daughter everything she would be a very different person, and she is what makes me happy all year 'round and especially at Christmas. I did't mean to rant so much. Have a great Christmas and don't lose too much of your "arse", or ass as we say in the States!

  10. Oh poor you, I do sympathise. Everyone seems to have the tree up but the thought of going up into the roof and dragging it all down does not thrill... Why has life become so rushed, eight hours uninterrupted sleep is my dream at the moment. Best of luck!

  11. Have happily made some Christmas gifts (gotta brave the rain to post them today) but have only sent 4 cards so far - writing and sending cards is my bah humbug moment so will be sending fewer this year and more will be of the online variety. Am looking forward to setting up the tree and decorating but the house needs a bloody good clean first so more bah humbuggery.

  13. I can't be arsed this year either. Have brought a few presents and thought about other presents but unfortunately they didn't miraculously appear wrapped and ready to go. What I dislike the most about the tree is putting it away. It never goes back in the box the same. Then several
days later after I've packed it off the the garage I find some piddly decoration that was missed. Tinsel isn't invited to our house banned it years ago found bits of it for months later. And if I hear one more carol in the shops about a white Christmas when it's 39 degrees outside it could bring on tears.

  15. This is the first year we haven't had an Advent Calendar and I felt a bit guilty, even though youngest child is now 21! I've cut the decorations down to mostly mantelpiece décor and we always have a big real tree that holds all the baubles from years of buying a couple of new ones every year - let the cats do what they will. The trick is - in my opinion - not to put the tree up until 5 or 6 days before Christmas and then it's still fresh and a novelty - I couldn't be doing with it from the end of November, beginning of December like a lot of people do I would be sick of the sight of it come the 25th. Now the kids are older - and one left home - I think of Christmas as mainly a time we are all together and nobody has anywhere they absolutely have to go and we can just 'do nothing' together for a few days - in our p.j.s if we want. Of course there will be tinsel - and Bucks Fizz on Christmas morning - and hopefully somebody will have bought me a nice pressie (I'm not a Saint!) - but I refuse to be pressurised into panicking. I hope you have a good one and make sure you get those lady parts seen to.

  16. I wouldn't be bothered but for grandkids. To me, it's alway about little kids.
I used to be one of those people who would have the cards ready to go as soon as the Chrissy stamps were ready. And there was dozens of them. Now, I might do 3 or 4. And might be lucky to remember to post them before the day.
So I understand how you feel. I hope you get Baking Day. Cheers. 😊

  20. Oh Man! I SO needed your post this year -- I'm having a MAJOR bah humbug year! We usually have 12 at our Christmas and this year, we're down to 2 -- TWO! My sister and her family are deserting us for the first time ever, it's our kids' off year, and hubby is going home to be with his Mom for her last birthday and Christmas (as it should be). I can't go 'cause I'm alone tending to my mummy who is now in the hospital with pneumonia. In the middle of that fun, we're having a major bathroom renovation (great idea to do it during the holidays!) I haven't done a bit of anything and I'm thinking I'll just skip it this year. Might give in on the fake tree, but only 'cause it's part of the outside decorations which aren't up either. There's more, but to protect the innocent ... There. Now you can feel good about your Christmas! XOXO -- Have a Good One CrazyPants!
