You wouldn't believe me,

if I told you that the broken ankle was just the starting point to a month of crazy medical interventions for the Ric Rac clan. We have had biopsies and lumbar punctures and flesh eating parasites. (not all on the one person) It has been bonkers.
Amidst the bonkers was AQM, the last big event on the crafty calendar. A trade-only show, it seems to be as much about showing of new products as it does about everyone catching up. This is part of my little section on the Creative Abundance booth.
It is always fun to get together and hang out with the other crafty folk. This is part of Emma's booth ( and matching arm), showcasing her latest range of fabric , The Linen Cupboard.

Rosie's awesome Ikea lamp hack using her range Chirpy Lola !
Of course, there are also goodies at AQM , so I bought a few and begged a few and brazenly snaffled some to share with you guys. To enter, just leave a comment. Tell me the best thing you have made this year, leave a blog link if you so desire.
The winner will be picked at random tomorrow, and no shouting from the mountaintops will increase your chances, but just between you and me, I did aquire quite a few goodies so there is another giveaway on Bookface and one on Instagram as well. ( shhhhh).

I really love this purple hippo. It was really hard for me to take the time to do something for me, Covered my chair with blanketing.

  9. Oh wow, what a month or two.

I don't feel like I've been very crafty this year. Crazy but not crafty. I would be most proud of the Aussie Hero Quilts that I have made and sent to Aussie Service Personnel serving overseas.

Hope December is good to you Jodi.

  11. good grief! I can't even remember what I made 2 weeks ago!!! But right now I'm loving my latest obsession which is hand stitched baskets. Love your little "booth" - looked fab with the animals on their letter "block". Sorry to hear about all the dreaded lurgies. Having spent the last 5 days in bed myself I can empathize. Now I'll just have to work all weekend to catch up with all the report card writing I haven't done yet....

  12. Craft ti,e (like everyone else), has been pretty limited this year. I have managed to make a knee rug as a gift. I did have great intentions -hey maybe next year!

Hope your household is on the mend

  13. I hope life is getting better for all of the Ric Rac family! Thanks for the chance to share in some of your show goodies.
This has been a crazy year. I remember making my house look tidy because I had to sell it. Does that count as "making"? But then I had to move out and that just messed everything up again. I did make a cute harness for a puppy early in the year:

  16. Enough of the crazy, Jodie, I wish you a happy, uneventful December. My favourite thing is a mini quilt I've made for a Christmas swap - it's appliqued, quilted and labelled and I don't want to keep it (although I'm really happy with it) because my partner's love of bright colours took me way out of my colour comfort - which is a good thing.

  17. Yikes! I hope those of you who were ill are on the mend. Sounds like some of you have had it rough. I've actually made quite a bit this year. My absolute favorite is the Halloween costume I made for my son. He went as Captain Haddock (from the Tin Tin series). It was some of my fastest work and the best. I added details that made the costume perfect, and yet managed not to over think them (a problem I struggle with). His smile in it will be remembered :)

  18. Flesh-eating parasites?!!
The favourite thing I made this year? I cannot decide between the ABC baby quilt, the knitting bag I made with your pattern or all the Dear Jane blocks I finished. Do I have to choose just one?

  19. Oh my, flesh eating parasites? Your life is far too exciting. I love that little frog, so cute... My most recent make is a sashimi quilt.

  20. The best and only sewing I have completed this year is a crochet hook roll. I have completed a crochet ripple rug, my first crochet project in over 30 years.

  21. eeek, I've not been able to do as much as I would like this year, but my boys do love their star wars boardies I made them. I am seriously thinking about those alphabet animals. My little girl would just love them. Does one more WIP matter??

  22. I have made lots of great things this year but the ones that have bought me the most fun and enjoyment have been the RicRac patterns. I have loved making the alphabet animals and the other small patterns as well as making the larger dolls. I know this sounds like I am trying to suck up but it is the truth.

  23. You sound like you have had one hell of a time of it lately. Let's hope the only way is up!
I have made lots this year but my favourite is probably a navy and white spotted dress which turned out really well and has a bit of a swirly, girly skirt.

  24. A new handbag...let's catch up!

  25. Flesh eating parasites? Mmmmm nice!
I've made a mess, a lasagne and a few more WIP's. I did finish a baby quilt, yay me.

  26. I feel a bit of a cheat admitting I haven't created much of anything this year, except for two aprons entered in the Ballarat Apron Festival. Where I met you, Jodie! And you introduced yourself and called me by name! That totally blew me away. And I sold one apron and won Best in Show with the other. What was going on there?! *Carolyn*

  27. What a lovely giveaway! My favourite thing this year was the Moomin Quilt I made in March for our new Grand Daughter.

  28. The best thing I've made this year has to be my daughter's wedding dress: http://nouba.com.au/heide-museum-wedding-free-the-bird-photography

I think I spent most of the time in a flat panic - I've never made anything quite like it. There is so much _structure_ under all that silk. And it is all silk (apart from the tulle supporting the beading, and the cotton twill boned corselette); floaty detachable silk organza net overskirt (so they could dance), satin dress, organza underlining, and silk crepe lining. All up, over 20 metres.

I commute three hours a day, so most of it was done on weekends. Thank goodness I only have one child, because I'm not sure I could do this all over again!

  29. I've not sat at my sewing machine pretty much all year, except to make 14 sparkly skirts and 8 sparkly shorts for my sons Kinder class for a dance festival. Did give me a sense of achievement to see all those happy faces though! But next year back to quilts!

  30. Your booth looked great! I'm not sure I have many anything good this year, I haven't been so productive these last 12 months. I suppose my favourite finish was the quilt for my little nephew, but only because I paper pieced his name for the back.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow, what a month for you. I think my favourite thing this year is a set of cushions all made with 2 1/2 inch squares in different colours and different designs. They look great on the sofa. Thanks for a fun giveaway. x

  32. Apologies if this comment turns up twice, but the best thing I made this year was my first quilt. It's nothing fancy but I love it. Kids love it too, they are always stealing it to snuggle under.

  33. Hi Jodie, hope things improve in the Ric Rac household soon. The best thing I've made this year was my daughter's quilt I made for her 10th Birthday. I don't make quilts very often - so this was a big project for me (trying to fit all that fabric under the machine to quilt it is always a challenge!). I much prefer making softies! http://jodyscraftycreations.com/woodland-fairies-quilt/

  34. I crocheted a giraffe for my nieces baby boy! Don't know that I'll ever do another though 😉
    Cheers

  35. I am almost finished with an English paper pieced hexagon quilt top....I am proud of it....but honesly, the little fox and deer (your patterns) make me the happiest! They cheer me on from the piano....waving wildly with their sweety little paws/hooves.....the best little guys I've made....Like with your family, things have been a lttle rough.....and the cheer from the friendly toys....is keeping me sane! How's that for a loooooong answer to a short question...Sending healing vibes your way.

  37. It's been a pretty slow year, but it have finished a few ufo's, so that makes me happy. I'm working on Christmas dresses for my girlies and that is always special. Thanks for the lovely giveaway.

  38. Oh my goodness... you've had enough now (please make sure you ask Santa for a quiet new year). I made a few gifts for friends who had babies, including a couple of the "Hector the Giraffe" from the softies book. But the most appreciated gift was one of your "Post owls" for a friend who successfully obtained a big grant this year - her letter said "YAY!!"

  39. Sorry to hear things have been mad for you. Best thing I've made this year is a crocheted sleeping cat from yarn dyed with Kool Aid.

  41. Hmm best thing I've made ......
I made a start on a quilt for me. Was going gang busters for about 2 weeks and now haven't touched it for a month. But I have started!
Hope all of the medical bits and tests end with happy smiling faces
