H is for Hippo

I really don't know if I am done yet

As is always the case, the more I make, the more ideas I have and the more I want to make and I feel the pressure of not-enough-time and too many ideas. I am not really complaining, it is a great problem to have and far far preferable to the no-ideas times.
I just want to make everything small and hand sewn with befuddled little inquiring heads, and chubby tummies and wibbly limbs.

This puzzled little man is also available on sale in my pattern shop using the code verysmallbusiness until tomorrow morning. Thanks to the people who have popped in and thanks for the love for the new friends. I was very unsure about these guys, thinking they might have been just a for-me kind of toy so I am super pleased that you like them too.

  7. Funny, the heads I have impaled on needles are the ones that no longer call out to me.

  8. They are gorgeous and appeal more to me than the more intricate ones. :) only because I don't especially like sewing stuffies. But I think I could manage these widdle wones.

  10. I have this Hippo up to buy. I have never made a stuffed animal before, would this be too hard as my first project? Thanks for any help. Oh, and what is the difference between a pattern and a creative card?

    1. Hi Georgine, If you can do blanket stitch then yu should be fine to make these guys!. A creative card is a mini-pattern. In my case they are usually for something cute like a teeny toy or pincushion. The pattern pieces are still printed full size like a proper patterns , they are just for little projects.

  15. I didn't think it would be possible for your creations to get even cuter Jod, but you've cracked it! I especially love the teensy elephant :) Now I need to find a source for really good felt over here. xx

  16. Oh Jod, they're so cute! I love the little head tilt :)

It's both a blessing and a burden to have a head full of ideas, isn't it. I seem to spend more time thinking than actually doing though, whereas you get on a do!

  17. 'I want a hippopotamus for Christmas. A hippopotamus is all I want!' Do you know the Patsy Biscoe song? It is a favourite in my family, and we often give hippo-themed gifts.
