my default emotion

To cut a long whiney-butt story short, my default emotion seems to be grumpy. I have four more days to work before the end of term and I am now counting them in milli-seconds.

You know, I am beginning to think that I really am just a grumpy old woman....

who occasionally manages to sew stuff.

  1. Yeah, you and me both! There's a definite relationship though - more sewing = less grumpiness. There's something to be learned from that. Hope we see you in the hols!

  2. A woman who manages to sew completely genius gorgeous stuff!
Hope you have a really restful and happy holiday!!

  3. I hear you! I have four more teaching days left before end of term as well. Counting the days, lessons and hours.

  4. Dress is gorgeous Jodie! Love the stitching on the bottom.

  5. If you can make something that cute, you are not such a grumpy old woman (o:

  7. Hey Grumpy that dress is adorable...keep up the good work :-)

I too am counting down the days till the holidays begin and silly me grounded the boys for a month and it runs right thru the holidays....What was I thinking???? Will have to get them to work their way to getting let off early or I am going to go insane!!

Just realised that I haven't organised the Kids Craft Days for the holidays, got any good non messy ideas??

  8. Grumpy women can NOT be as creative as you nor can they make such adorable things like that dress. Perhaps when the term is over you just need a week of crafting (close the door, grab some tea and chocolate and go for it)

  9. That is sooo adorable!
My hubby and kids would tell you Grumpy is my default too!

  10. Thats sooo cute Jodie.

Someone counting the days here too.

  11. I have to agree with the aforementioned-----someone who creates such delightful things cannot be that grumpy. There are times when my loved ones tell me to just go sew----usually when I am grumpy! Gorgeous little dress.

  12. You craft to get rid of the grumps... don't you know thats how it works!
    No craft...Big grumps
    Crafting...No grumps!
    See - easy
    ;)

  13. You were very un-grumpy on Saturday, but I bet you'll be even um-grumpier by Friday!

  14. Even if you are a grumpy old woman...I still love the turtles! They are always my favorite!

  15. Oooh, I need one of these dresses for my gorgeous little doll. She also needs a face but I am scared!

  16. No, you're lovely. You just need a holiday. And maybe less stress.

  17. My default mood is to be totally and utterly pissed off. And I don't really sew very much at all. Win. Win.

And tonight part of one of my teeth fell out. What was even more disturbing was that I didn't even notice when it did.

    grump grump grump

  18. Gorgeous dress, Jodie. I'm with you on the countdown - pity I have the other job as well! Hope you have a good un-grumpy week and an especially un-grumpy (and non-coughing) break. Fancy a coffee during the hols?

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't know, that sweet little dress looks nothing like grumpy, so it is hard to believe that you possibly could be grumpy. Remember chocolate cures all.

  20. Welcome to the grumpy old woman club. Have you ever watched that show Grumpy Old Women I always sit there agreeing with everything they say.

  21. Takes one to know one. I'm sure I beat you on the grumpiness scale - daily!

Yep roll on yer hols and mucho stitching.

I adore that washing line on Izzie's dress and of course it's Pebble that is doing the chores. I hope Ernst bought her chocolates for washing his socks.

Whiney-butt your way to the end of the term.

    Cheers,
    AJ

  24. Oh, me too, Jodie! I read your blog but don't often post but, yes, I am relate to the grumpiness!!

For me, maybe it's a combination of menopause and two teenaged daughters? ;)

    Love your stuff!!!

  25. Good grief! You do that kind of work when you are grumpy?? Ahhh, but you do that kind of work all the time... just a beautiful little dress in WHITE (???) with gorgeous embroidery ...

How is your hacking cough doing - I hope you lost it somewhere along the way ...

  27. Grumpy? NO! That's a cute dress. Ever thought of branching out into little girls clothing?!

    ReplyDelete
  28. What do you mean old?!

The world, according to Voltaire, was created to drive us mad. As such, I decided to be mad in the first place to save time. I like to think your grumpiness is just your mind's way of pointing out the madness in the world.

...oh, and you sew stuff. Rather brilliantly if I may say so.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Well, over here you'd be known as a COW--Crabby Old Woman. But really you are COWWS--Crabby Old Woman Who Sews.

Adorable embroidery on the dear little dress!

    ReplyDelete
  30. But really, really cute stuff - so not all bad.

  31. I was trying to figure out what size the dress is. First I thought for a toddler, then I read all the doll related comments. You need one in your size - it will cheer you right up!

  32. Sounds like you need a holiday! We're only five days into the new term and I'm already feeling grumpy.

Good job we have crafty doings to keep us happy :o)

That little pinafore is so beautiful, it makes me want to cry a little bit....or that may be my hormones.

    Luxury!
    I've got FIVE.
That means I'm one fifth more grumpy than you.

  37. grumpy maybe but still capable of excellence. x

  38. That darling little clothesline made my heart skip a beat!! Anyone who creates something as cute as that can most certainly not be that grumpy surely! Right??! Right????!!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Sounds like a bit of presenteeism is in order. Cute dress, although I'm not sure it will fit you ;)

  47. Two weeks school holidays should be the cure for that grumpiness. Hope you get lots of crafting done during your break.

  48. The dress is gorgeous. Wow! And as others have said, anyone who is grumpy couldn't have created such a beautiful piece! And crafting is definitely the antidote to grumpiness!

    ReplyDelete
  49. GORGEOUS!! I love the embroidery.
and hey what's wrong with a little grumpiness....

    ReplyDelete
  50. My charming doctor told me the other day that if I thought I was grumpy now, just wait until I get older. Apparently it's caused by hormones. And everyone knows chocolate sorts out grumpy-causing hormones so I suggest you eat lots of chocolate. Beautiful little dress by the way!

  51. Lol!!! Never mind kids do that to you. Anyway they made a whole tv series on grumpy women and they were hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  52. More turtles ... Love them. And as always totally devine stitching.

You are so good for inspiration.:-)

  62. Grumpy or not...that pinny is to die for! I hope I get to see someone wearing it.

  63. That is absolutely adorable, I'm surrounded by babies (not my own!!) lately... it's like International Year of Procreation or something... so I've had to make quite a few baby things this year ... http://stylewilderness.blogspot.com/2010/09/baby-love.html

I know most of your work went into the stitching but for some reason it's the buttons that I am loving, might have to copy them in an adult-sized garment...
And LOVE the balloon idea in the previous post, is it OK if I suggest it for a festival I'm working at next month?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Oh the grumps! Hope they go away soon. Surely looking at that amazing stitching must help? Locket xx

    ReplyDelete
  65. We all have our moments. But I don't think anyone who is JUST a "grumpy old woman" could make anything as fun and cheery and adorable as that little turtle laundry number there. At the risk of getting slugged by your grumpy side - Chin up! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  66. Your grumpiness certainly isn't showing in your work - it's gorgeous, and very un-grumpy looking. Not long until holidays now.

    ReplyDelete
  67. That is just so cute! Really really sweet and wonderfully done, I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I hear you. Only replace the final words 'sew stuff' with 'write stuff'. :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. If you can sew like that who cares. Bring on Miss Grumpy.
