Excuses , Excuses

Well obviously Christmas is a busy time

and then there are visitors

and the sewing room is a total pig-sty

and I have to find time to fully acquaint myself with the DVD and the hefty tome of instructions

OK and maybe, just maybe

there is a teensy bit of performance anxiety.

  1. How exciting - the 644D is a goodie!

I think you'll need to get your helpers into line though. Tell mousie to move her foot away from the blade and that rabble standing on the top that they'll mess with the looper tension.

    Have fun!

  2. You will be fine Jodie!
You have plenty of helpers on hand by the looks of it. Don't call it mess, Call it alternative decorating,

  3. Very exciting! I've got the 744D, and was like you at first, but now I'm getting into the groove it's a wonderful thing.
Mr Thornberry wants to know if you'd be interested in making a Dalek...

  4. haha...I am here thinking I should be sewing rather than faffing about on the net reading about other people who are sewing????

    happy new year to you..

  5. Hmmmm ... seems like a lot of dials and spinning bits. However that little grey bot on the side looks like she might know what she is doing. The mouse on top seems to be doing a good job of offering a protective arm to the turtle against the onslaught of that ginormous robot at the back.

  6. How wonderful Jodie that you have a new machine to play with. It certainly seems as though all your little friends are trying to help you, you could always ask them to help out tidying up the creative chaos, lol! I am sure once you watch the dvd and have a bit of play around with it all you'll be fine. Do they have classes you can take too to familiarise yourself with the machine.

  8. Impressive-looking machine! And your crew looks suitably impressed.

I'd be a bit intimidated, but then, I'm still intimidated by the box of attachments that originally came with my machine...my Auntie's old Singer Featherweight :)

  9. I got one of these for christmas, too! The exact same model. I get free lessons from the sewing centre where I bought it (that reminds me, must book in for my next one) and I totally recommend doing something like that. I was scared stiff of it, but one lesson and I feel fine!

Mind you, I haven't managed anything fancy with it yet. But I'm sure they'll teach me that, too!

  11. Hope its all been fun Jodie! I reckon the best way is to dive in and start overlocking and when something goes wrong, then you refer to the instructions.

  17. Well done Jodie, that is apparently Janome's most popular overlocker! (It was recently on a very, very good deal too). You will LOVE it :)

  18. Jodie, I am sobbing into the computer . . . I want a new sewing machine. I guess I'll just have to be happy with my old overlocker. LUCKY YOU!!!!!

  19. Yay, good for you. I'm still getting to know my overlocker but I'm sure we will be friends soon. Don't forget to have a good chat with your sewing machine just in case it gets a wee bit jealous. (and decides to only sew backwards two days before Christmas)

  20. It does look slightly daunting to me, but I'm sure you and it will be good friends soon.!

  21. Ooooh, you're going to love it! How exciting. I do think you're right though -- you should probably hide all the friends in the other room until your new friend has a chance to perform! Congratulations!

  22. Wow, that does look flash! I used an overlocker for the first time recently, it was a bit daunting, but I want one now.
I can't wait to hear how you find yours and whether you'd recommend it.
Your little friends are obviously welcoming the new machine into the fold, aren't they a friendly bunch, I'd love to meet them all! :-)

  23. Once you get to know each other I'm certain you'll have a wonderful relationship!

  24. Ooo errr...... a hardcore overlocker!! You won't know yourself now Jod... imagine the bots you can create now!
And I agree, that Bot on the left does look like he's about to throw the turtle under the presser foot for sure!!

  25. well done, how exciting! The threading is the scariest bit- but you'll work it out in no time, then you can't go wrong! I didn't watch the dvd, I got the girl in the shop to show me, she let me do it a few times, and Bob's your uncle! Do you need to overlock felt, though? heehee

    ReplyDelete
  26. So, does this mean some proper sewing?

    ReplyDelete
  27. woohoo! my overlocker did scare me at first and rethreading still gets me a little bit nervous but I watched the dvd and off I went. I do love mine though!!!!!!!!

    happy playing!

  29. Ooooh, how very exciting! I must confess to being a tiny bit envious ...

  30. Hurrah! ... Now then, how does it work? I suggest you find how to put it into gear first, ease your foot off the clutch and let 'er rip! After a few trips around the sewing room the 'creative chaos' will have rearranged itself and you'll be all ready!

  31. I think I am going to end my life without coming to grips with one of those scarry sergers or whatever each country calls them.

  32. Woohoo! A brand new toy, and weeks and weeks in which to play. Enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Good luck...love the support crew. Can't wait to see what you do with this!

  34. Is it a case of too many bots spoil the ...actually I don't know what it is maybe I should ask the mouse or the blue bot. What do you think *vbg*

  35. Oh cool! lucky you. I really want an overlocker but I think I will be exactly the same when using it.

    ReplyDelete
  36. That's funny , I've just pulled out my overlocker after almost 15 years not using it , I feel your anxiety !

    ReplyDelete
  37. Woohoo! I think you should put aside any worries and take 'er out for a spin as soon as possible. You look as though you have a keen and eager pit crew there already ...

Have a wonderful year in 2010! Can't wait to see more of your creations :-)

  41. Pretty sure both your machine and overlocker are same as mine - twins!! Lots of fun to be had by you now...

  42. Performance anxiety? It's no wonder with that lot crowding you, and watching your every move. I say you just ask for a little space! "Nothing to see here kids"... that kind of thing.

Hee hee. You funny girl. Hope you had an awesome Christmas. xo

  43. Exciting. I have a piece of machinery and a DVD for homework too...lovin' Santa this year!

  44. You have perfromance anxiety? I was given an overlocker for my birtthday 2 -no, nearly 3 years ago (it came with video still, no dvd) and I haven't even been game enough to open the box yet! My excuse is that I don't have sewing room to use it in, just the kitchen table, but really I am a bit scared of it...
