A week that's pretty high on the shit-o-meter does have unexpected benefits.
The quilt I took on camp is hand quilted and I have one more side to go with the binding. Unless my friend is in labour right now - the chances are that this will finished before the baby even gets here (I think that is a first for me with baby presents - I am always late).
So when things do turn to shit - as they tend to do occasionally, I recommend some hand-sewing.
because we all know that keeping your hands busy means you can't actually kill anyone.
and that has to be a good thing...
uhoh. Work or home?
ReplyDeleteGlad you've found a benefit.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks great.
This quilt is absolutely gorgeous - v inspiring!
ReplyDeleteI hope the needle on the meter is back in good order very soon.
ReplyDeleteThe saying goes "when the going gets tough, the tough get sewing!" Cute baby quilt.
ReplyDeleteWell that quilt certainly hasn't turned to shit it looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteYes!! Say it! Shout it out loud! Hope things take a turn for the better asap. x ps your friend is going to LOVE that quilt.
ReplyDeleteWell, I guess it just depends on what you do with the needle...
ReplyDeleteA truely stunning quilt Jodie, and I'm sure "the universe will unfold as it should" Keep sewing
ReplyDeleteYes you can, yes you did and I'm proud that you did.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that the hand sewing therapy is working.
BTW can I come out of my no-more-baby status and birth another child so you will make me a quilt like that?
BTW my word verification for the previous comment was betheemo...
ReplyDeletebe the emo... which I translate to mean - Jodie be shitty and grumpy and mean-ass at the world and it will all work out.
You crack me up. Sorry about the bad week. Hope your shit-o-meter returns to 0 -- at least for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteSorry for your bad week.
ReplyDeletethe quilt will be lovely however.
bravo for finding the silver lining.
The week is nearly over. Hang in there. It sounds like your sense of humour is just hanging in there. And another unexpected benefit... you made us all laugh!
ReplyDeleteAmen Sister!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's Your Title you can say what you like...LOL...the quilt is lovely..Great little pics for baby to look at...hope you have a better weekend...
ReplyDeletecheers
It is a wonderful quilt!
ReplyDeleteI've heard many reasons why we like quilting but keeping our hands busy so we don't kill someone is new to me. I like it.
ReplyDeleteas far as I'm concerned, you can definitely say "shit-o-meter" in the title. Hand quilting IS harder to mess up and easier to rip out if you do!
ReplyDeleteFabulous quilt, clearly you are a genius... as I find once more! Yes, try not to kill... there are worse things than death... and more legal too!
ReplyDeleteTho' possibly I ought not to tell you what they are just in case!
You could write a tale in which your 'enemies' are gruesomely slaughtered and possibly disembowelled... while you as the detective try to find out who the killer is... it could even make you money. So you get to legally kill and make money from it too!
sorry you have had a shit week... I had a pretty shit wednesday if thats any help.
ReplyDeleteas for the handsewing thing.. aside for a very very little bit of embroidery my handsewing looks like a trainwreck.. mind my machine sewing is only marginally better...perhaps I should stick to baking..
Sorry that you're having a crap week. THe quilt looks awesome and extra bonus points for being early!
ReplyDeletePerhaps you could stitch a shit-o-meter? Something in vinyl (easy to clean) and fairly 'solid'. Perhaps with a weight in the bottom?
ReplyDeleteI sometimes worry myself with the way my mind works. Pay no attention to me.
The quilt is gorgeous - I hope things get better soon. x
Well done for having the quilt nearly done before the baby arrives. I've got one here for my nephew from when he was born.... he's heading for two!!! Maybe I should finish it! I just need to sew one border on, get it quilted and then do the binding. You'd think I could have been a bit more organised!!! Sorry that your shit-o-meter went off the scales.....!
ReplyDeleteexcellent work I am usually late with presents.........the quilt looks great........
ReplyDeleteI hope everything works out and you have a great weekend. The quilt is looking just lovely and is a very beautiful present-late or not-take care:)
ReplyDeleteI think that your post title will have secured good organic search engine optimisation. Stay tuned for all the visitors who are looking for something a little more dodgy!
ReplyDeleteThink your quilt is super. What a great gift. Love your advice too ... pity my hand sewing is too high on the s***-o-meter.
Your quilt is great Jodie, I love how the little pics are off- centre.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for needles and threads eh? They literally can save a life! *giggle*
Looks like whatever the s!@* was, it was motivation for that quilt, so it can't all be bad... hope things turn around. You have me ROTF LMAO, as usual!
ReplyDeleteSure you can!
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks great - well done on getting it finished pre arrival of bub. I have a few presents sitting here that are waiting be be sent off (I'm a bad friend LOL)
Glad that you had something to keep your hands busy.
Hopefully the shit-o-meter has peaked and some good is coming your way!!
ReplyDeleteIt's your blog. You can say Shit-O-Meter no problem. Hope things turn around for you. Thanks for making me laugh!
ReplyDeleteA truer word could not be said. Thank you for your stitching wisdom!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great! and when doing some cranky sewing the damge done bu hand is far easier to fix than the damage done by machine...
ReplyDeletesome of these comments have just cracked me up! I'm totally with Kitty, we want an easy clean, stitched shit-o-meter! hehehe!
ReplyDeleteRight. So you reckon live in eternal hope - it is Friday afterall - and maybe just have something fabric/to jab very speedily to hand once the needle is threaded? Got it.
ReplyDeleteYep youv'e said it. Hope the meter is smelling of roses soon and not sh... well you know what I mean!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that quilt
I hope the week got better ... do like the camp quilt though!
ReplyDeleteMmmm looks like I should of had some handsewing at work yesterday!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you are OK - it doesn't sound like a great week was had...thinking of you..

ReplyDeleteAs for the EITTTS, they're contagious!
I couldn't agree more. Hand-sewing definitely pulls me in and soothes me. Sorry to hear things are crazy, but at least you can turn it into awesome subject lines.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha!!! I may have to start a little hand-quilting project of my own ;-) Yours, by the way, is spectacular!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG! That has to be my new Motto
ReplyDeleteOh man. I needed that blog...and that laugh. That's going to be my new line when people ask me why I quilt so much. I had a particularly rough day at work today and appreciate your lifting my spirits!
