After the full-on rolling boil of the months lead up to the show, I seem to have lost some momentum.
There is plenty to do
Daughters frocks to be refashioned.
Cool, lightweight plastic stuff for an attempt at a dolly raincoat
a quilt to be bound and a present for a little friend to be invented.
But I find myself simmering on low heat, stirring occasionally.......
Jodi, I think it's absolutely normal to be a bit off the momentum after all you've been doing! Happens to me too. Take a break and simmer for a while...everything will be there when you get ready. :)
ReplyDeleteProbably time to have a bit of a relax Jodie. you have been flat out lately. Enjoy the moment
ReplyDeleteI'm dying to see the great green (and white) beast to be finished....hurry and get off simmer! :) BTW have you seen Tallgrass prairie's post? LOL. That is a seriously cool spiderweb quilt she's got going.
ReplyDeleteit is time to rest and relax...
ReplyDeletebut i really can't wait to see a raincoat out of that fabric...so jodie you really need to hop to it...we are all her waiting with baited breath...LOL...
Take a load off babe and have some to do free time. It's called R&R and so well deserved! I won't lie - I am very much looking forward to the raincoat adventure, but hey, I can wait.
ReplyDeleteLost your crafting mojo? Feeling frayed around the edges? Coming undone at the seams after a hard working week?
ReplyDeleteSay no more....
It's (drumroll please) limerick time:
There once was a dolly called Mary-Sue,
Who got caught in the rain and didn't know what to do.
As her outfit got wet,
She started to fret:
"Jodie's stuck in a slow-simmer stew!!"
Have a restful weekend Jodie xxx
You can't allow Craft Burnout! Mountains of weekend newspapers, cruisy brekkies, flagons of wine, good company and a non-guilt bit of time off. No doubt the small person/people will be obliging accordingly. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteThere is usually something very very good after a long simmer.
ReplyDeleteJust enjoy the sweet fragrance for a bit. More than over due for you.
Keep stirring Jodie - you'll eventually get back to a rolling boil....
ReplyDeleteSounds like a pleasant place to be. Not to stay but to settle for a bit.
ReplyDeleteForget the dolly... I want a raincoat like that!
ReplyDeleteYou finished - nearly - the green monster!!! WOOOHOOO
ReplyDeleteread a book, watch a movie, do anything else and eventually it will come back to you - you probably just need a little break :)

Well considering just how busy you have been leading up to the craft show it's no wonder you don't feel like doing much. Take the time to rest and relax. Your Mojo will return.
ReplyDeleteCatherine
Eat some chocolate, put your feet up, read a book. You'll soon have inspiration and the will to start up again. You just need a five minute break.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is not so much a loss of momentum as it is a regrouping after the craft show. You'll find your mojo again soon!
ReplyDeleteI'd have a week or 2 off, I think you deserve it :D
ReplyDeleteI would say you need a well deserved break, if you ban youself from doing any sewing for a week I imagine within a day or two you will be going crazy and will HAVE to star sewing and making pretty things all for me!
ReplyDeletereally you have been so incredibly busy lately you deserve a few days off to potter around the house, or the city drinking iced lattes and eating cake...what didn't you know everything comes down to coffee and cake! and possibly wandering around pretty shops buying pretty things..
go to the cinema...Watchmen was very good, meyhem, distruction, rubber suits, rockin tunes, and erm quite a lot of blue on display...
er I'll go away now..
I feel the same way! I love all of your projects, I bet that you feel inspired to continue with them soon enough!
ReplyDeleteI always get that slump after a full-on, adrenalin-charged rush to get things ready for a show (although mine have always been much smaller-scale than yours!) Give yourself a break and then come back full of bounce!
ReplyDelete(as long as you keep blogging in the meantime - I'm not allowing you a holiday from that!)
Locketxxxx
Fear not - some of the best recipes require a good long simmer time. You'll probably come to feeling refreshed and full of new ideas!
ReplyDeleteI feel the same - with the added bonus of a fluey coldy sort of want-to-sleep-forever bug.
ReplyDeleteI reckon we expended a year's worth of energy on that show... it'll take a bit of R&R to recouperate.
See you on the other side...
loving that plastic stuff! that will be one cute little dolly raincoat! I think you're due for a well deserved break Jod, put your feet up and relax.
ReplyDeleteSelina xx
Me too! I have all the intentions of getting some sewing done once the girls are in bed but when they are i just can't be arsed and spend my time working on the computer instead.
ReplyDeleteThe best pie fillings and stews come after slow cooking.
ReplyDeleteA dolly raincoat? With that fabric? Your dollies need a catwalk.
Yeesh! I know that feeling. Still end of the Spring term, so the next four weeks are mine. So I've got some new books to read, an exhibition at the V&A to see, an old skool friend to meet and some r'n'r.
ReplyDeleteAfter all that rushing around, I'd take a break and do other things. Soon enough your heart will tell you when you're ready to get back to it.
The human mind is a contrary thing. Tell yourself you are not allowed to craft anything at all for a whole week and you'll be dying to get back to it. :>} I cannot WAIT to see the green and white quilt in all its finished glory!
ReplyDeleteTake a chill pill and relax, stop the craft brain from ticking over and let it rejuvenate, no need to feel guilty you've done so much lately so you deserve Time Out (not in the naughty corner though!)
ReplyDeletelovin that green and white quilt. i'm quite sure that i am going to be green with envy when it is finished . . .
ReplyDeleteYep, I know what you mean. I can hardly find the energy to do anything.
ReplyDeleteI love the plastic stuff!!! Very cute!
ReplyDeleteThe previous 32 comments seem to be giving you very good advice so I think I shall just say... "wasn't the weather great this weekend - hope you enjoyed yourself".

funny how once you stop it can be hard to get started again.
ReplyDeleteafter madly sewing christmas pressies i stopped sewing for about 6 weeks!
Take a break. That ambulance is spectacular though! I cannot wait to see the gorgeous green and white finished - those two colors are partnered perfectly.
