The crafting has been sporadic here at Chez Ric-Rac............that's not to say I haven't been spending lots of time in my sewing room, it seems that I have been having an extended run of EITTTS (Everything I touch turns to SH*T).
So, unlike yesterday when I persisted in banging my head against a selvedge brick wall and had five attempts at something that still ended up in the bin..........today I decided to do something simple, easy and finishable. At the end of the day I will be able to say "I made some button brooches today , and they worked and they are pretty cute."
Which is just as well, because when you use the wrong flour in your Apricot bloody shortcake, it comes out more like Apricot kitchensponge.
(Ummm Annie, I will still be over for afternoon tea and yes I will still bring along something yummy....... Maybe more of a shop-bought kind of yummy though.)
Ah Jodie,
ReplyDeleteI am glad I am not the only one that has these moments!
But I bet somebody ate it though.
ReplyDeleteCute Scottie button....not such a eittts day after all!
Happy NY RicRac. xx Betty Jo
Buttons look good enough to eat, and the shortcake wouldn't last long around me, especially with a nice cup of tea!!! Happy New Year... I'm sure the sewing room disasters are just a new year glitch. When I muster the energy to crank up the new sewing machine, I'll let you know!!! :)
ReplyDeleteI love that!!!(EITTTS). I think I will have to add it to my vocab! the brooches look great and the apricot shortcake looks delicious even with the wrong flour! Hope you have a nice avo tea, Kathryn. XX
ReplyDeletei like you. you make me smile and laugh and i like that. :)
ReplyDeleteNew vocabulary that sums up some days perfectly!
ReplyDeleteI am sure the apricot kitchen sponge would have tasted lovely - and the brooches are certainly yummy, so the day wasn't wasted!
Oooh I am so going to use that phrase/abbrieviation whatsa ma thing, I have a serious case of that also, but the buttons looks beautiful...and I am sure the apricot takes better than it looks, cover it in cream and no one will know ( except everyone who has just read your blog) Ooops!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year

Cute brooches! I share your pain...yesterday I put an iron to something I should not have and melted it. Mess...perhaps your creative mojo is on holiday. I know it will be back!
ReplyDeleteEITTS- tee hee! how does one pronounce that I wonder? EATS? Because if yes that makes it even funnier :-)
ReplyDeleteOh well, I hope the day ended up better. I think, whack enough cream on anything and someone will eat it. Teenagers!
ReplyDeleteOh, and Happy New Year Jodie!
I hope EITTTS isn't contagious!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to know it's not only me who has those moments. Think of it this way - today was crap, tomorrow will be better.
ReplyDeleteEITTTS is a fabulous description! Great badges though!
ReplyDeleteLocket xxxx
You sound like you need a holiday from making. Maybe something involving a beach, a towel and a novel?
ReplyDeleteThe buttons look great, so about the cooking though
ReplyDeleteJodie, you always make me laugh, Thank you!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the EITTTS...will have to borrow that occasionally! I know exactly what sort of day you have had, I have them sometimes too! Makes you want to do back to bed or just have a few stiff ones...drinks that is! Cathyx
Ah yes, I have wasted an entire day already crafting items that will never leave the room. LOL
ReplyDeleteI chalk it up to being part of the creative process and a learning experience. :)
Love your cute button brooches and, wrong flour or not...that shortcake wouldn't last long at my house.
Kimberly :)
You make me laugh! I like the little doggy.
ReplyDeleteHappy new year 2009 from Barcelona!!!
ReplyDeleteOH! I had a day like that too! You will have to see my pictures to see what I did! I'm such a KLUTZ!

I definitely have these moments as well! It's a good plan to just pick something else to do and cut yourself some slack. Tomorrow may be one of those "everything goes right" kind of days!
ReplyDeleteI Jodie - I don't wish to argue with you (especially so soon into 2009!) but I can't believe you are even experiencing EITTTS - I suggest you might be being too hard on yourself ;-) I can't wait to see what Ric Rac has in store for 2009 - your projects are always such an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteThat darned EITTTS - it's highly contageous you know. Before you know it, it's crossed the planet and those of us 'over here' are infected too. Blinkin' bluddy stitch rippers - they are so sharp they rip fabric too!
ReplyDeleteI think that Apricot shortcake looks ok - still edible. Especially if you put a blob of ice cream or dollop of cream on top?
The button brooches are fab. Hope the EITTTS is cured soon.
x
Happy New Year to you. Hope the EITTTS goes away soon. Got any good books to read ?
ReplyDeleteIt must be contagious because I have the same EITTTS at my house too.
ReplyDeleteReady to commit harykary but you bought me some extra time - maybe all I need is a nap.
Thanks!
Hmmm. Apricot kitchen sponge sounds pretty tasty to me, and reading about it gave me a good laugh this morning. (And what kind of flour is the wrong king? I only keep one kind on hand) I'm eager to hear what the selvedge experiments were that weren't cooperating. I know you said they wound up in the bin, but what were they supposed to be?
ReplyDeleteLove the button brooches and that cakey thing looks yum to me!
ReplyDeleteLike many of your other readers I had EITTTS today too. Had to unpick some sewing 4 times, and last week used salt instead of suger in some cooking, yuck. Lucky I taste tested first :-)
ReplyDeleteOh I hate those EITTTS days too!
ReplyDeleteMind you - you could at least smother the pudding in cream or custard and no-one would be any the wiser!!
xxx
I love those buttons.
