The List didn't seem to care that I was back at work and it still demanded my full attentions. Nor did The List seem to take into consideration the fact that it was 46 degrees in my sewing room by the time I got home from work !!!!
So the list and I sat down and had one of those heart to heart conversations , you know the where-do-you-see-this-relationship going type conversation. I had to admit the list was a little shocked when I openly admitted he was only an interim list, here to get me through until he wasn't needed anymore.
But I also told him he was the best list I had ever had. He liked that. Then I told him he was by far the biggest list I had ever had (he really liked that) and that I couldn't possible cope without him.
but then again, I say that sort of crap to all my lists.........
Does your list have a brother? I haven't had one in a while, and could really use one!
ReplyDeleteThese entries are good for a chuckle of recognition! I love my lists and, like you, they always serve me well -- FOR A TIME.
ReplyDeleteI can always count on you to give me a good chuckle and a smile whenever I visit. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteLove those raining umbrellas, Jodie.
Sometimes a little bit of flattery goes along way!!
ReplyDeleteTypical man, blind to everything except the flattery he chooses to believe. No wonder you have decided he is just an interim list.
ReplyDeleteEgads is right! It must be a blurry strong wind coming in to send all of those umbrellas to that kid's house.
You forgot a line......."its not you........its me"
ReplyDeleteWondering whether there is a hidden message to the weather in regards to all those umbrellas.
ReplyDeleteI love my list too, but it also can be too pushy. Men!
Ah yes...I'm a love em & leave em kind of listmaker too.
ReplyDeleteHaven't you heard? Modern science confirms that, technically, girls don't actually need lists anymore (but it doesn't mean we don't WANT one - I check mine out regularly)

I just couldn't be in the kind of relationship where I had to keep consulting and checking-in like that. The List was clearly too controlling. You're right to move on.
ReplyDeleteLists? Love them then leave them - that's my opinion!
ReplyDeleteBut Egads! I LOVE THAT QUILT!!!!!
Locket xxx
Unfortunately my lists control my life. My only revenge is to write a fresh one every day and throw the old one in the bin.
ReplyDeleteOoo they shriek in horror when I do that.
I just smile.
I love this umbrella quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that the little boy in the umbrella is saying 'egads' is one of the best things ever!

Very very original
ReplyDeleteGood grief does this mean that the List may become a "been there, done that" kind of list. How sad...vbg. Maybe you should send the list to me when the two of you have parted company - maybe I too could be organised ....not likely.
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteYou "List Tart" - Love the rain on that umbrella quilt. Boy oh boy you got a lot of things ticked off the help of that wonderful list.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking that List has some 'issues' around the matter of 'control'. There is a fine line between providing structure (think heavy interfacing/stabiliser) and control (boning).
ReplyDeleteAnd as everyone knows about Lists ... size isn't everything: it's how the List uses what it's got that's important ;-)

Oh dear...I am glad you let the list down lightly and didn't leave him torn and tattered on the floor ad I have seen it happen all too often before, that list just can never seem to pick him self up and will lay in that dishevelled state being kicked when he is down, trodden on even for days even in the most tragic cases for weeks on end. No that list will never be the same, there may be others like him with similar 'qualities' but now that his work there is done, he must move on.....someone else will take hime is I am sure....aahh

The list is male.... hmmmm! Must be some list?
ReplyDeletei love the raining umbrellas. so adorable!
ReplyDeleteI like using lists, but for a short amount of time, and then I seem to forget they exist for some reason.
ReplyDeleteYour little umbrella quilt made me laugh out loud, it is adorable! I love the boy saying "egads!" that is just too funny :D
Treat 'em mean keep 'em keen, I say! Write that list then lose it....they really hate it when you do that but they just can't help themselves....they always say 'go on, write another one - it'll be different this time - I promise...'

p.s. loving the umbrella quilt - no doubt wishful thinking in the midst of a monstrous heatwave!
I've lost my list. He's probably sitting under a clothes rack in a shop crying because he's lost and he doesn't know if he will find me.
ReplyDeletePerhaps someone will take my list to the customer service desk and a tannoy call will be made for me. Until such a time I'm just aimlessly doing this and that, with no list to guide my way. January has been like this for me.
I LOVE the brolly mini quilt. Is it wishful thinking on your part with all that hot hot heat?

There are plenty more lists in the sea!!!! Love that quilt. Hope going back to school wasn't too painful for you! I have just made my list for today! Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteYou are such a tease....what is a poor list to do with a girl like you.
ReplyDeleteI always cheat on my lists. You know, a much better, more detailed list comes along and just sweeps me off my feet! The old one gets left behind, and then again, a new one. Somehow though I still never seem to finish one before moving on to the next! Guess i'm just a tramp that way!
ReplyDeleteSelina.
oh, and very cute little quilt!
egads? I think your list would be more 'Holy $hit'...
ReplyDeleteLissa
Oh but I love lists! Lists are soothing, lists are relaxing... Lists can also be stressful. Packaging, display furniture, and oh god I think I might have ordered 200 more ziploc baggies than I actually needed... And what's this, I was supposed to send business cards off a week ago?
ReplyDeleteOkay maybe it's time to put the lists down and step away...

We have had some rain. I look out the window and say the same as that boy!!
ReplyDeleteAs for the list, get him sorted quick and then start a girl list (we can multi-task etc) a male list is too easily distracted!
You made another wee quilt, and just kind of snuck it in with listy reflections. I love it!
ReplyDeleteOh, but this list is an extra special one - don't be too hard on him!
ReplyDeleteJust love the umbrellas!
ReplyDeleteYou've definitely been getting too much sun if you are talking to the list!
ReplyDeleteI followed your lead and made a little list too. I'm not usually a list person, but the situation called for one.I'm following it too. Tomorrow I'm making a bigger one, but not too big.
ReplyDeleteGood luck back at work..and see you in March.
A woman needs a List like a fish needs a bicycle! Tho' not a bicycle riding fish obviously, cos that would just be silly.
ReplyDeleteThe personal is political... and yes definitely, it's not you... it's er, well ok actually it is you. Sorry, but there it is and now I'm going to have cake. So there.
egads those umbrellas are cute! I say that sort of junk to my list all the time...funny thing is he never goes away and continue to grow and grow even if I dont feed him!
ReplyDeleteAre dolly patterns on your list?? Are you including patterns for the cool accessories?? I've never outgrown dollies.
ReplyDeleteyou can't see me - but I am grinning. A big big grin.
ReplyDeleteROFLMAO
ReplyDeleteI need to get me one of them lists!
xMx
You are bloody hilarious! Between this and your rendition of Fever, what do I say? Were you a stand-up comic in a past life???
ReplyDeletegreat post! you crack me up!
ReplyDeleteI tagged you on my blog... check it out....
Well....egads is a little cleaner that Holy Crap. HOLY CRAP that's and adorable quilt. Excellent job, Mr. List!!!
ReplyDeleteGracious. You're funny, babe. Gotta write a book. (Maybe that's already on the Old List. Or the fresh, hot young New List.)

LoL! Oh those darn list! The quilt is so darn cute! I love the umbrella theme because I live in the burbs os Seattle-umbrellas are sort of a theme here. ~Smiles~Tam!
ReplyDeleteTHE 'list' can be so overpowering sometimes, huh?
ReplyDeleteYou are shameless! Just how many lists do you have? Had to explain (sort of) the list comments and "egads" to my ten-year old who wanted to know why I was laughing out loud and started reading over my shoulder. With any luck she picked up some tips for managing...lists...in due course!
ReplyDeleteMy lists live on the kitchen whiteboard, so they know they are only a casual fling for me. Love the 'Brella Boy. Is he the same one that you wanted suggestions / inspiration for the speech bubble? And if not, what did you decide on for that?
ReplyDeleteErr...I was thinking how witty my comment had been and then I realised that actually it could be read as rather catty. I didn't mean to be that! I thought the post was very, very funny. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteLOL.
ReplyDeleteROFL.
(I'm making a list of all the possible responses I could make to this post, beyond "hysterical"!)
