After last weeks focused sewing thanks to Annie, I have been thinking that maybe my usual approach (dithering from one project to another) needs a bit of an overhaul. So, this week is the week of dolls.
Apart from adding selvedges to the Big Project I am going to sew dollies and clothes all week . Don't expect to see any marvellous results like last week - it is all far too fiddly for any massive results but I'll keep you posted (How fascinating I hear you cry).
This is Hazel, she is bestest friends with Leopold and she has a big adventure planned !!!
This is Hazel's little quilt, only "blog finished" at the moment, the binding is pinned at the back but I just wanted to show you those corners - these are the best corners I have ever done and it is all thanks to this tutorial from the gorgeous Fiona of Dear Fi - even the endy bit worked out. Thanks Fi!!
Oh and this.....this is a cat in a bag of course.
cant wait to see what your week of dools brings.I too need to get my backside into gear! so gald the tutorial worked! nice corners:)
ReplyDeletesorry i ment to type dolls! it's monday morning:)
ReplyDeleteDear Jodie, I shall also be interested to what your week of drools brings.
ReplyDeletesincerely, Trash.
P.S. Locket? In your face! Hahahahahahahahaha!
Looks like Hazel is in cahoots with Leopold.....
ReplyDeleteAnd I also have been thinking my craft schedule needs an overhaul. I have been reading about Jhoanna from One Red Robin keeping a tight ship preparing for her show, and thought I might try to actually put it to paper what I plan to do each night.
Okay Jodie, I'll be an organised grown up with you. How very grown up of us....
Wow, actually sticking to one thing at a time.. No way - I couldn't do it, I get bored, then on to the next. Goodluck with that!!
ReplyDeleteOh, by the way Hazel is just too cute for her own good!!! What a lovley mate for Leopold!
I always love seeing your lovely dolls! And I have to say...what mighty fine looking corners you have there!
ReplyDeleteYour corners are to be admired in all four corners of the earth! Way to go!
ReplyDeleteJodie can't wait to see your dolls. Will you be putting them on Etsy?
ReplyDeleteI trust the cat in the bag was a big help while you were giving birth to Hazel. Nice corners! I can't wait to see what accessories you, the accessory queen, come up with for Miss Hazel and her sidekick, Leopold.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how good a friend Leopold was there would be no way that he would be getting into bed with me, with his 6 legs and feelers .... ooooooooh poor Hazel!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that plan Jodie. I'm a tic tacer too.
ReplyDeleteKellie's comment cracked me up! Hazel and Leopold look so cute and cozy under their little blankie! And what an ADORABLE little kitty!
ReplyDeleteI am staying tuned for the adventures of Hazel and Leopold. Love a cat in a bag.
ReplyDeleteI have some selvedges at the shop for you! Have been tidying all my fabric in time for the big move. There will be lots more too!
ReplyDeleteem
very cute face! i love the freckles! good idea focusing on one project and not jumping back and forth all the time. i have the same problem with sticking to one project. might try your attempt. take care and i'm looking forward to seeing the outcome of your week, erika
ReplyDeletewhat is it with cats and bags?
ReplyDeleteI managed perfect corners thanks to Fiona too. She is a saint, and I think I am in love with her (but don't tell her, coz I'll get all embarressed)
I do, however, still think Leopold and me would make a very dashing couple - imagine us at the wedding, all dressed up - him in his top hat and tails, me wearing white (coz I am so pure, of course). It'd be a heavenly day. Can you give him my number? Tell him your mate fancies him?
Mighty fine corners! Love the cat in the bag!
ReplyDeleteLove that little kitty - and looking forward to all the adventures to come.
ReplyDeleteHazel is lovely - you are such a clever thing. And a gorgeous cat - I have a long haired tortishell and she is absolutely stark raving mad. I hope yours is a significantly saner...
ReplyDeleteI bet Leopold's antennae tickle. x
ReplyDeleteShe's for me isn't she?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you mean "No"?
Locket x
(short and unabusive message coz typing with one finger takes too long!)
Great shot of Hazel and Leopold in bed...... how cute.
ReplyDeleteyaaaaayyyy
ReplyDeletemore dolls!
Considering the size of Leopold, is it safe to assume that he is a locust? or just a nice hefty sized grasshopper?
ReplyDeleteI love Hazel's freckles - very cute!
Your corners are very good to my untrained eye but your catinabag is absolutely adorable. Ours is always hopping in bags too.
ReplyDeleteDoes Hazel know that grasshoppers are wasters? I do hope for her sake that Leopold is an exception or he will..er, fiddle until winter... at which point... what happens when you cross a grasshopper with a doll...?
ReplyDeleteThe cat in the bag is soooo lifelike, you must have spent ages on it. Possibly.
You aren't dithering, just multi-tasking. ...well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
Awesome corners Jodie!! I need to check out that tutorial.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Griffin - you did a great job on the cat in the bag. Did it take much stuffing?
Hazel is gorgeous and obviously an entomological kinda girl, given her liking for all things Leopoldy :)

Hello. I'm new to your blog, and i think i may be in love with your cat. Your work is utterly lovely, but I'm just so distracted by that little patchy cat face...
ReplyDeleteDoes Leopold's planned adventure involve meeting up with a couple of million of his friends and eating the Australian grain crop? No? That's a relief. Perhaps a trip to the tea shop instead.
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually a cat person but your mog is beautiful - love his/her smudgy markings.
As always, your creativity is inspiring and beautiful, Jodie. I love seeing what you make!
ReplyDeleteCould your kittie be any more beguiling? Such a sweet feline face!
It's been a while for me, but those corners do look perfect.
ReplyDeleteI just stumbled upon your site, and it's lovely.
My crafts have been put on hold temporarily, but I will enjoy them vicariously through you.
Cuteness. That cat is so funny peeking out of the bag. Love it. The corners are great, your binding looks really good.
ReplyDeletethat's a look of a cat about to pounce if I have ever seen one. What a gorgeous kitty you have there - oh and less I forget, leopold - he is truly wicked! (and such a fab name too).

Oh so sweet - Hazel and Leopold rock!
ReplyDeleteCat in bag - brilliant : )
Wow, you are so disciplined! Maybe I should try and take a leaf out of your book. Very impressive corners too I might add ;)
ReplyDeleteOkay, what are Hazel and Leopold doing?
ReplyDeleteI love your corners and the cat in the bag is sooooo cute. I can't stand it!
Oh, the stripey binding corners are just too much! What is "cat in a bag" on top of? Mechanical pencils? Knitting needles?
ReplyDeleteVERY cute blog!
ReplyDeleteOh, I love your site! I just stumbled across it and have bookmarked it on my blog under a list of sites I like. I love all the tutorials, thank you for sharing them!! I'll be back often!
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie, thanks so much for your suggestion over on my blog!! Much appreciated. Evie
ReplyDeleteHow did your doll making week go?! Hope you achieved everything you wanted to!
ReplyDeleteHazel is very cute, but not as cute as your gorgeous cat.
ReplyDeleteOh my, your kitten looks just like my 'Billy-Cat'. She was 16 and died 2 years ago but this is just what she looked like when I first had her at 5 weeks old. I've had a little blub as I miss her sooo much.
ReplyDeleteOh, the stripey binding corners are just too much!
