January - start the year off fine

The frock has been included in the 2009 Whip-up calendar.

(How awesome is this guy on the cover?)

A little while ago, Kathreen of Whip-Up told me about this calendar project, which Whip-Up hope to do each year, and asked if the dress could be included and of course I said yes straight away.
Little did I know how deliciously gorgeous this calendar was going to look, or how amazing (and scarily talented) the other projects and contributors are.

I feel so honoured (and a bit of a fraud) to be included with such people to be honest. I nearly died as I flicked through the preview and realised I was in a calendar with Mimi Kirchner - Mimi is my total crafting goddess, the person I most want to be able to craft like one day. Her recent sad girl and boy with the black eye have left little haunting ghosts in my craft psyche-they are so beautiful. Her beautiful biker/pirate is Mr April.

The calendar is available from Redbubble and given the shocking value of the Australian dollar these days you international folk could probably just send us some beads and mirrors and get yourself a copy.

It's a great way of supporting Whip-Up and saying thanks for all the support they give to both blogland and crafters of all persuasions. I have ordered my (and my mums Christmas present )copy already so once it is here in the flesh I'll let you know!

Thanks Kathreen for inviting me to join in, and as ever, thankyou to Whip-up for all the support they give to all us crafters.

  6. I absolutely don't tink you should be feeling a fraud. I was coming home from the quilt shop yesterday with my two tiny pieces of material and wondered to myself whether I should start collecting selvedges and where do you (ric-rac) get so much from, etc. I decided it wasn't worth it for me as I already have too much of a mess and anyway I could never come up with such beauties as you do. In the end I decided that your pieces, especially THAT dress are museum worthy and I might actually be encroaching on your artistic license - a bit like copying Picasso or Rembrandt. So ther you have it. You have created a masterpiece and are not a fraud at all. Cherrie

  13. Oh Hoorah, I think perhaps for 2010 you could do a selvedge bikini for Pam Anderson or such and then perhaps you could have two calander appearences at once.
That dress was devine, congratulations on well deserved recognition.

Well done Jodie, it's very well deserved. However, now you will need to celebrate... lunch out, bottle of wine, possibly get the 'kid' to wear the dress so others can admire her in it?

  18. I'm right there with you - one day someone is going to find out just how big a fraud you are. And then they are going to come take your sewing machine away and everything and all you will have left are those little boys in a box and some selvedge scraps and wondering why a life of crime just doesn't pay.

But make sure they keep the dress until after my wedding ;-)

  21. Congratulations on being included in Whip-Up. From looking at your blog, it is a well-deserved honor! Keep up the good work! I love your selvage projects. I'm been saving mine during 14 years of quilting, and keep thinking I'll make something--one of these days! I actually have them sorted by color! LOL
