Go on... let it out. Have a big guffaw at my expense.
It took me four days just to sew the top together. Admittedly not all day, I lost the will to live around 5pm each afternoon.
Before you ask..No I am not reallylearning to love quilt making.
Although I do like quilt finishing.
I think I could love it, maybe, if it weren't for all the precision - and the freaking pressing.
But truthfully, making sea stars was way more fun.
Special thanks has to go to Emma who helped out with all the complicated maths.. and the instructions.. and pretty much everything!
The free quilt pattern can be downloaded on the Ella Blue website and it is called Leaky Boats. They could not be swayed to use "Bastard" - bizarre ! but that leaves it free for the musical !
Give me the Bastard boats anyday......you can have the star fish way to fiddly.......
ReplyDeleteThe boats look great.....
looks great Jodie...love that little star!
ReplyDeleteit's fabulous, like you.
ReplyDeleteleaky boats ftw
I dont' do quilts either. but it's not the accuracy or the pressing, it's the size!
So clever Jodie!! I'm really impressed you persisted and didn't stop at a mini quilt!
ReplyDeleteBastard Boats sounds good to me. Although no one would know you aren't a masterful flat sewer. :o) Sea star makes me all kinds of happy.
ReplyDeleteIt's a darling quilt. And all those HSTs are nasty to make at one sitting. Course, some people like chain piecing. And trimming. I prefer the instant gratification of one block at a time, but it does take forever. A round of applause for your perseverance!
ReplyDeleteYour posts always make me laugh out loud.
ReplyDeleteThe quilt is lovely but the sea star is adorable.
Looking forward to the musical. 😉

I just spent 6-months in a leaky boat, trying hard to keep afloat... sing along now 🎶 best looking bastard I've seen in ages!! Cute starfish ❤
ReplyDeleteYour title made me laugh so much. I do make quilts, but small and very simple ones. being a perfectionist I get stressed by having everything needing to match for every line/corner/millimetre of fabric. My quilts are never as good as I want them to be. Love the starfish. x
ReplyDeleteWill you be including the Split Enz hit"Six months in a bastard boat"?

ReplyDeleteOh, Honey, forget the precision! I started out in a very traditional way, but then I discovered some really cool quilters who make crooked things, often with curves thrown in. Things don't have to match, square the blocks up at the end and everything fits. It' a lot more fun. Check out Sujata Shah, Gwen Marsten, Rayna Gillman, to name a few. Love your posts!!!
ReplyDeleteOh well done you!! Knowing how much you love making flat things, I am super impressed. Looks amazing!
ReplyDeleteI can always count on a good belly laugh with your "shoot straight from the hip" posts, Jodie! Thanks so much for keeping it real and doing it with style!
ReplyDeleteLoving the starfish and looking forward to the musical. ;o)
I'll piece your quilts if you'll stuff my starfish.
ReplyDeleteIt was so worth the effort, Absolutely divine. Well done!
ReplyDeleteI love the new fabric line and I would willingly sail on your bastard boat. Will Jonny Dep be sailing with us? just asking for a friend.....
