In between times

The in between times after Christmas and before everything is back to normal are a bit weird aren't they? With Mr Ric rac home I can't quite settle in to my sewing room hibernation routine (He would beg to differ) and even though there are new things brewing and patterns to write, I'm kind of ....meh...

but I also have this pressing need to do something....so I do comfort sewing, For me it is elephants so I spent yesterday sewing all those dark grey piles of fabric into elephants.Nothing ground breaking but satisfying in its own way.

In breaking news we actually have New Years Eve plans .....I still hope to be long asleep by midnight but just the fact that I won't be in my dressing gown by 6pm is cause for at least a minor street parade around these parts. Between that, and yesterday's "reclaim the washing basket" march.....I might very well need a Bex and good lie down by tomorrow.

  1. "reclaim the washing basket" eh? I have about four that need to be reclaimed!!

Have a fun evening & happy new year to you Jodie; hope we get to catch up sometime again in 2012... I'll varnish a bun for the occasion. ;)

  4. Your a crack up. I like it when other's in the family don't realise they are high maintenance ie hubby's and kids. I'm not getting much done by 'not' spending time with the kid! Pottering is nice, and sewing for yourself even nicer, enjoy those 'phunts- are you telling good 'how do you get' jokes while you're doing it teehee

  5. Yep they are weird. THis year im finding it strange too, that I've got an early Jan deadline so there is no rest or fun time making. But at the same time I've no idea what I'll do when I've finished, this whole exhibition thing has been so much of my time and year.
Anyway enough of me crapping on. HAppy New Year Jodie, and I hope 2012 is a superb year for you xo

  9. It is a strange kind of no man's land that I live most of my life in, cause hubby works from home and some of the kids are homeschooled. Just people everywhere all the time, wanting things. Glad you are doing "comfort sewing". It's what I do most of the time. Now I know why.

  10. not even comfort sewing happening here. I feel like I have flicked through countless magazines and wasted lots of time feeding people and cleaning up puddles (toilet training?!)
Normally I find the time between Christmas and New Years so productive. Don't know what has happened this year!!!
    All the best for 2012.

  11. The time between Chrismtas and New Year is soooooo strange. I'm used to being down the beach on holidays. Instead, I'm sitting on the couch in front of the air-con. Bizarre!
Hope you get your party frock on and whoop it up tonight. Happy New Year Jodie!

I too hope to be asleep before the bells/fireworks and get back to sleep again sharpish.

    Heffalumps is good.

Do we know that cute one armed kitty bandit?

  22. Happy New Year, Jodie! What is (a) Bex? Is it something Australian? Here, it is an imported beer (Beck's), which might also proceed a lie-down...

  23. I was with married friends the other evening - the female halves of the partnerships. They were both getting distinctly twitchy about having had their husbands home for so long. One of the few times I have thought being without one might not be a bad thing ;)

Can't wait to see how those Nellies look when they're 'done'. Gorgeous, I'm sure.

I hope you and your loved ones enjoy a great 2012, Jodie. Happy New Year :) x

  25. Ah yes we too had plans for NYE but the only sound of celebrations was the kids screaming because we turned off the Barbie movie (who knew Barbie had become a film star?!) to watch the Sydney fireworks! Still good night was had by all and during the festive season I was introduced to a new Parsley and Beet that will turn the tide in this house from admiring softies to actually making some soon...just got to find the sewing machine....still somewhere under the Christmas decs that are ment to be back in the cupboards! Happy quilting Sue SA.
