because these were the third set of legs I have made, (having tried a grey/white stripe and a red/white stripe) and of course these were the ones where I forgot to tell myself to be extra careful and match up the stripes....so they are embracing the wonk a bit.
but you can look at the shoes with their little Hook and Eye faux lace up thingo's, cause they are pretty cute.
(Just so you know- no amount of cute little doo-dads is taking away from the fact that all I can see is those bloody mismatched stripes.)
I don't know, I think those legs look just right. Slightly askew but still cute! But then, I've never met a little girl that was perfect.

ReplyDeleteI can understand you wanting it to be perfect, I wouldn't expect anything less for my Christmas present!! As long as you get it finished in time to send it overseas..! What? What do you mean can't have her..I'd never manage to do those faux laces myself..!! (and as for lining up tights, I can't even work out which feet my own tights go on..!) :-p

ReplyDeleteep. They are terribly unmatched. My Mother would have had a fit. I failed a sewing job once because she tested my skills on matching stripes and of course I have no such skills. I'm sure the stripes would move even if I glued the fabrics together. Some little body will enjoy those legs though and never see the mismatch or else grow up to think that is just how stripes ought to look. Cherrie

O, she is too cute, even with her mismatched stripes. At least they are pulled up and not bagging or sagging at the ankles like mine always want to do :) I love her boots and her sweet sweet smile.

As for the mismatched bits...could you maybe run a little piece of trim or use a little black marker to draw something that would make them look like the offset is intentional?
