Sewing all the way around a teensy little softie arm and not leaving a turning gap?
Perfectly understandable mistake.
Sewing all the way around two teensy softie arms without leaving a turning gap, even though you stopped to change thread colours ?A lack of concentration perhaps?
Sewing around 12 teensy softie arms with four thread colour changes and leaving no turning gaps....
Sheer stupidity.
Happens. Especially if you think about something very different and exciting.

D'oh!! That sounds like something I would do. Today I cut a pattern piece and forgot to cut on the fold. D'oh! Lucky it was the smallest piece - a pocket.

Yesterday I had a meeting to go to at my daughter's school. I'd had to postpone a friend coming over to sew because of it, but then I forgot to go to the meeting! duh! I usually like to throw something I threw a cake once but I think I'd eat it now...:D

ReplyDeleteThis blog and the comments that follow remind why this is the first blog I check and the one I miss when you are busy. Love the tiny arms, this is better than using wickedly expensive mohair and sewing four arms to attach and then realising that you don't have any left arms.

ReplyDeleteYou were on a roll! Honestly, sometimes I think it is faster to get out the seam ripper and make a tiny cut later. At least that is my explanation to myself all the times I forget.
ReplyDeleteOr maybe just time for a break. And a wee drink. Beverage choice is yours, but I would recommend something slightly alcoholic. Or a lot.

ReplyDeleteAll that work is making you over concentrate so you miss stuff. I've done it with calligraphing a page...looks great until I make a glaring mistake - always near the end so I have to do it all again.
Such a comfort to know there are some rather prestigious members of the club.
ReplyDeleteYou must've been on a roll to get all that sewing done and not realize that simple mistake! I usually do stuff like that when I'm super tired. No offense, but it makes me feel better that I'm not the only one that does something like this...to know a super efficient sewist like you can make a mistake like this! ;)

ReplyDeleteIf the arms are teeny tiny, you could cut a small slit in the back for turning the arms through and then stitch that closed. I use this technique when sewing small parts. Perhaps it was not a mistake after all but a chance to discover a new technique?????

ReplyDeleteThe only thing stupider is carefully cutting the pieces of a garment out and then finding that you cut the cuff off the bottom of the back - AAK! Did that. (I wondered where all the extra fabric came from - duh)
