So I went to the doctor and I had a test that involved something akin to a small bottle brush being shoved up my nose.
Chances are I have whooping cough -the word looks like fun doesn't it? "whooping" yeah well its a big fat fail in the fun department. Its also a fail in the sleeping department and the eating department and the any chance of feeling less crap than crap department.
Breathing hurts.
I'll see you when things are less crap.
Oh gosh Jodie, I feel for you but I think I'll stick to my common or garden variety cold! Feel better soon...

No wonder you feel like crap ! My husband had whooping cough a few years ago and he felt like crap too . I hope you feel like whooping it up for real soon .
ReplyDeleteOh no! It's nasty...my mum's had it.
ReplyDeleteGet better soon.
Stay indoors and well away from wee bubbies! I hope you recover quickly!!
ReplyDeleteOh no! That is crapper than crap Jodie. Put your feet up and get a little bell and ring it every time you want something.
ReplyDelete:)
I survived the whoop and you will too! Sending electronic hugs lovey. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a shitter! And in your birthday week too!!!! Feel better soon xxxx
ReplyDeleteThat is not even vaguely pleasant! My daughter had it last year when she was 9 weeks old (not fun for any of us), and my sister had it a few years ago and broke a rib with all the coughing. Thankfully there's no long term side effects even if the symptoms take what seems like forever to go away.
ReplyDeleteTake care of yourself. xx
Ahhh. I'm so sorry to hear that you feel like crap. I've had that brush up my nose too and you didn't mention that they shoved it about 6 inches up. I was no longer an agreeable patient after that. Get some rest. Here in the US they are saying that it can take weeks to be really better. Take one of your softies to bed, get a little bell, and have someone wait on you.
ReplyDeleteDeborah
Thinking of you and hoping you are soon on the mend (and you're right - it is crapper than crap!)
ReplyDeleteBugger! Id heard from a nurse friend of mine that it was making the rounds again; she even suggests that adults should be vaccinated.
ReplyDeleteWishing you well asap!
Fuckity Bugger.
ReplyDeleteI hope this passes as quickly as possible Jod
x
Oh no!!! I hope that you don't suffer too much.
ReplyDeleteOh no. Whooping cough is nasty. Rest up and stay warm.
ReplyDeleteActually, just recently I went to get a tetanus booster and the doctor wanted to give me the more expensive shot with the whooping cough booster in it and I said no. Hope I can't catch it through the internet.
Eww! Not too sure about the brush sticking up the nose thing. I hope you feel much better really soon tho. X
ReplyDeleteGet better soon - there is nothing crappier than crap diseases.
ReplyDeleteIt's doing the rounds up here too, our GP is recommending re-vaccination. Take care, get well, toni xxx
ReplyDeleteTime for some therapeutic online fabric shopping.
ReplyDeleteAlways makes me feel better!!
Hope you do soon.
Andi x
Definitely have a stiff drink, stay in pjs all day and lie decoratively across the couch. At around 5.30 when everyone is home - make sure that they do dinner/washing/cleaning/all other activity for the next few days and take the time off to recover!!! Whooping cough is nasty so its time you hit the daytime soapies and rested.
ReplyDeleteTake care
Merrilyn
I'm sorry you're feeling so crappy and hope to see you soon. Take care of yourself so you can recover more quickly.

ReplyDeleteOh how horrible! You have every right to feel sorry for yourself. Get well soon.
ReplyDeleteOh no - that's horrible. I was recently threatened with the very same test, but ran away screaming. Really hope its not whooping cough.
ReplyDeleteTake care my dear and put a nice warm wheat pack on those sore ribs.
You poor thing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll get better soon.
Oh no - feel better soon :)
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly. As others have mentioned before, whooping cough is really unpleasant. I just hope that you start feeling much better soon.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes,
Mandy.
Oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds horrible. My mum had it years ago and said it was dreadful. Every sympathy - just wish that would do you some good!
You need to rest, I realise you can't but rest right now, but at the slightest improvement, just keep with the resting.
I read somewhere that codeine (as in the painkiller) can help reduce the urge to cough, maybe you could try some - even if it doesn't help, it might make your sore ribs a bit better.
I hope you are being well looked after.
Hugs!
AJ
Oh no I hope you feel better soon. It's definitely doing the rounds of our school at the moment
ReplyDeleteOh Crap that is Crap!!! Hope you are feeling better soon :-)
ReplyDeleteoh horrible horrible.
ReplyDeleteWe're wondering if our boy has it at the moment - which probably means the girl will get it too. I've had two whingey moany arguing sick kids at home today.
Wishes of getting well soon, or at least having some lovely quiet resting time during your sickness - rather than lots of actual horrible sickness!
Oh you poor thing. I really feel for you. I am pregnant with our second bambini and I caught whooping cough from one of the kids at my son's creche. It would have to be the worst experience ever. I hope you recover muchquicker than I, but I would say it has taken me 3 months of antibiotics and recurrent chest infections to feel half normal. Having said that, your immune system is comnpromised when preggars so hopefully you will recover alot faster than I.
ReplyDeleteJust to make you laugh, but tena pads became my best friend. haha
Hope you rest as much as you can and take care.
PS> whooping cough in epidemic proportions at the moment in the community. Anyone that hasnt has a booster shot I so strongly urge you to. Trust me there is nothing worse.
Whooping cough? Good grief. Get better!
ReplyDeleteYikes! Poor you. I hope you get lots of special treatment while you are recovering
ReplyDeleteThat stinks Jodie - so sorry!! Sending healthy vibes your way!

ReplyDeleteOh no! A hazard of working with children is germs! I had whopping cough in 2001. I had to report it to the Dept Health and be excluded from school for a time. I felt like a leper!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to say get better soon, but you know it is also known as the 100 day cough. It really does make you cough for that long.
Keep warm, drink lots of water and carry throat lozenges with you at all times. They help to ease the urge to cough.
AND keep away from germy children!
Crap, crap, crappity crap...that is...well...crap...you poor thing...
ReplyDeleteand what's with the bottle brush idea? Oh hello patient, you feel totally crap so let's torture you! Oh yeah, that helps I'm sure...NOT!...

Be well!
Oh you poor love!! I do hope that family of yours is taking good care of you. xxx
ReplyDeleteHI Jodie, do hope you are feeling better soon. Can I just use this space to say as a nurse immuniser, if anyone our there is over 25ish and works in health or with childen, they should have a booster immunisation for whooping Cough ( called Boostrix) from thier GP.- Last year there were many more whooping cough cases that swine flu. - new parents and grandparents in particular should have a booster shot. - sorry for the serious lecture folks and Jodie- delete this if you want :0)sending you lots of good speedy recovery wishes. xx
ReplyDeleteYikes! The local news here in northern California has reported that an outbreak of whooping cough. Sounds like it is making it's way around the globe. It does not sound fun at all, hope you are feeling better soon.

ReplyDeleteHope you don't cough up a lung.
Hugs ~ Kerryanne
Oh Jodie!
ReplyDeleteThat's so crap it's even more crap than Mr Crap of Crapsville the well known Crap Champion who's just been bitten by the Crap Snake. It's so crap it's worse than Tony Blair AND George Dimwit Bush's love-child.
Sending you very gentle cyber-hugs. Will brandy/whisky kill it off? Is it worth a try?
Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. My only reccomendation - moist air. WARM MOIST air. I found I coughed alot less when I inhabited the basement swimming pool than when I was outside in a London winter.
ReplyDeleteTake care hope you recover soon.
ReplyDeletePoor Jodie!
ReplyDeleteBIG BIG hugs to you...get betterer soon....

ReplyDeleteOh Jodie - that really is crap. Hope you start feeling better soon. Like NOW soon!
ReplyDeleteTake care.
If get well wishes cure, you're well on your way! My mom says when she was a girl (75+ years ago, she's 87)and had it, they had to go outside without clothes to absorb all the sunshine they could. That would make the neighbors sit up and take notice, wouldn't it?
ReplyDeleteThat sure is CRAP Jodie-hope you get better soon-hugs to you:)
ReplyDeleteJodie you poor thing - I had whooping cough 4 years ago, coughed for 3 months, coughing to the point where you chuck, and feel like you will never breathe again, and felt basically knackered for the whole three months! But the good news is - make sure you get the RIGHT antibiotics - when I finally saw a different doctor, she was not happy that I had been prescribed several different lots of meds, none of which she thought was the best for WC. She prescribed a different lot and I was better within a week! Take is easy, hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI know exactly how you feel; Greg and I had it at the end of last year. It was horrible. I feel for you. Coughing till you spew is not at all fun......
ReplyDeleteI just had the exact bottle brush treatment today. Awful!
ReplyDeleteI bet it was one of those horrid kids at school that gave you this...... exterinate the lot of them, I say!
ReplyDelete*exterminate*!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyou poor thing- and your poor husband (just sayin'). My husband has had it for nearly 4 months now. They didn't catch it in the beginning- he had 2 lots of antibiotics, 1 course of steroids and now is on antacids (to stop the puking when he coughs)- just because they had no idea what it was. He still wakes up in the night with that tickle in the throat, and then coughs until he can't breath. ALMOST EVERY NIGHT (bitter? moi? no, just tired). We are both SO OVER IT- I just wish he really was over it! I hope if it is whooping cough that they are able to attack it and get rid of it for you. Feel better.
ReplyDeleteTake care and rest up...hope you get some relief soon and that it isn't too long lasting!
ReplyDeleteJodie, my deary.... so sorry to hear you are so poorly.....
ReplyDeleteSending some warm fuzzie 'get-better' wishes your way.... (the computer won't teleport a yummy slice of chocolate cake your way so the warm fuzzies will have to do I'm afraid!)
Dx
Jeepers Jodie, I hope you get to stay in a warm bed until you feel better ..sooner rather than later x
ReplyDeleteOh No Crap City. My daughter had whooping cough (and she was immunised), she would cough until she vomited - after she ate, when she went to bed, when she got excited. I won't tell you how long it lasted - but it was crap.
ReplyDeleteOh that is super crap dude. I hope you are feeling better really soon, because I've heard whooping cough is no fun for anyone.
ReplyDelete
