I am just about to skip out the door to a long weekend at sewjourn. (crafty haven).
I have twelve of these little people cut out.... that's 24 teeny cheeks, 24 teeny shoes and straps and 144 buttons ! Finishing is not going to happen, but I'll give them a good crack.
My plan is to make some of these,
and a few of these
and a couple of little teapots as well.
I am also packing the felt for 5 of these fellows just in case(I like to have every avenue covered -imagine the horror of running out of things to do!)
Do you gauge time well? Do you know how long a project will take?
I am hopeless. Things I think I can knock up in an hour take half a day, projects that are almost finished have another month of tweaking.
I am used to it, but it doesn't make it any less dementing.
Lovely teapot!
ReplyDeleteI had a sewing day and took a huge plastic tub with little plastic zip lock bags with fabric, patterns, thread all matching and everything ready to go. It probably comes as no surprise that I spent a lot of time chatting and finished just one soft toy. Whoops!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy it Jodie. You know my theory - take about ten times as much as you could possibly hope to complete. Then you have choices!
ReplyDeleteThat's why I have my car packed to the gills when I go away for a sewing weekend, as I have no real idea of how long something will take. Have a great weekend and so jealous of that venue!
ReplyDeleteAlways take too much stuff to craft camp. You never know what you can achieve fuelled by good food, good company, plenty of vino and nothing else on the agenda!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun!! xxxx
I'm with you - take heaps of stuff ; you wouldn't want to be bored, would you! Have fun at craft chat camp, Jod.
ReplyDeleteI always overpack at those events too. it's good to have choice! have fun!
ReplyDeleteI always seem drawn to projects that have a good amount of detail, and of course I have very limited crafting time in my day. I just expect to take ages but enjoy the process too. Have a great time Jod
ReplyDeleteI always think the end is in sight but I am SUCH a slow sewist. So I hear ya. Have an excellent time at Craft Camp.
ReplyDeleteMe thinks you are very ambitious, but I agree there is nothing worse than running out of stuff to do and it would be utter hell to watch while others play
ReplyDeleteAnd here I was thinking you were making a David Tennant doll with a topic like that LOL! And what a fine looking doll it would be! Looks like you will be very busy though, have a great long weekend!!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to the pattern for the gorgeous "Wooden Dolls"???
ReplyDeleteHave a great time.
ReplyDeleteI always over estimate how much I can get done but can't bear the thought of running out. A disastrous thing happened to me the other day - I went to a sit and sew session at my local fabric shop but when I got there I found I'd brought the wrong box of fabrics - so I had to buy more! What a catastrophe!!! ;o)
ReplyDeletePlease to explain concept of 'finishing' projects? Not understanding, I just get "Error 404 message not found".
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend but I think you are being a little optimistic. However IF you don't talk and don't sleep you may crack it. Is there a pattern for that cute little teapot.
ReplyDeletewot Trash said.
ReplyDeleteAll green here.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with your many bits and bobs.
If Sewjourn is a semester long, than yes, you may run out of stuff to do :)
ReplyDeleteHave fun!
Gauge time well? Some days a Tardis would come in VERY handy!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wow of a time at craft camp!
Lucky you and craft camp. That's something I'll have to invent for my neck of the woods. Location, location, location. I can tell you are a high achiever or over packer? Time, it's just a word.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! the other reason for taking lots of projects is to not be bored, and some projects are a bit quicker than others to do.
ReplyDeleteHave fun. :)
Love love love those birds!!! And a craft camp!!!! Who wouldn't like one of those????
