I know, I feel a bit like the friend who tells you that she is pregnant 5mins after conception. That early knowledge makes for a long nine months. It is a bit the same with Quilt Market, I seem to have been banging on about it forever.
Tomorrow will see Jemma and I join Nikki and her entourage and set off. There is nothing more to done in any practical way. I found myself at a bit of a loss yesterday, life without a to-do list sits uneasily with me. Of course, I just started on the after-quilt-market list. ( lots of classes, kids ones, grown up ones- even a class in Cooriemungle!
For the longest time I have been focussed on the "work" of quilt market, the to-do list , the booth panic, the logistics, the not insignificant amount of time energy and dollars geared at this event. I got a bit over-it before it had even happened. People kept asking me if I was getting excited....and I would look at them like they had three heads.
But you know what ? its going to happen, regardless of whether I packed the right clothes, or the sensible shoes. No matter what my booth eventually looks like, or who stops by to visit, I am going to the USA and I am going to meet some wonderful, crazy, internet friends that I never ever thought I would meet in real life.
And that is reason enough to pack the Lady Depends.
as your "senior executive" I know you will have the most HUGE time there and it will be a wonderful memory once you return.........just enjoy the moment and as you know meeting blog friends (axe murders) is so much fun.........have a blast.....
ReplyDelete1. Where the heck is Cooriemungle?
ReplyDelete2. Those shish kebabs look a little on the chewy side.
3. Lookin' forward to hearing the full blown 'birth story'
So excited for you. You will lOve Portland. One of my favourite US cities. Don't forget to allow for at least a morning in Powell's City of Books on Burnside!!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous time!!
ReplyDeleteI have heard that Oregon is one of the prettiest states in the USA, and Portland one of its nicest cities.
ReplyDeleteThis is a once in a lifetime experience. Sure, travelling is amazing, but the first time is the Once In A Lifetime Experience; it will never be the same again.
Have the best of times and we expect a full report on these pages at the soonest, practical moment.
Have fun!!!!! :) ♥
That needs to come with a word of warning. I nearly spat my lovely mouthful of pumpkin soup all over my computer screen at work when I realised you were packing Lady Depends in case you wet yourself.
ReplyDeleteYou seriously crack me up.
Have a blast!!
Have an uber tastic time and I look forward to hearing all about it. I dare you you fill up my instagram feed ;o)
ReplyDeleteMeeting potential axe murderers and wonderful, creative crafty types and spending lots of time together - I wish you both a fun and fabulous time and wonderful memories - with or without embroidered knickers.
ReplyDeleteYour posts always make me laugh so hard that I need the Lady Depends!
ReplyDeleteHave a great trip.
Have an AWESOME time, will be thinking of you xo
ReplyDeleteWe stopped in Portland for lunch one day during a terrible storm. We ate calzones and wondered why we had rented the A team van to drive from Seattle to San Fran (we were young and even sillier than now). Anyway, as we headed out of the city, we took a wrong turn and ended up in the most beautiful, tree lined suburban streets I have ever seen. That memory has stayed with me, and now I live vicariously through the Posie gets Cozy blog of Alicia who lives in Portland and who is exactly who I want to be when I grow up. Long story short (!!), I thought you might be interested in this post she wrote about things to do in Portland (if you haven't seen it already): http://rosylittlethings.typepad.com/posie_gets_cozy/2012/05/things-to-do-in-portland-oregon.html
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing trip and Instagram the crappoli out of it for the rest of us! Nic xx
Thanks for the laugh! Have a fabulous time.
ReplyDeleteOnce your bum is on the plane, you will get excited I think! at the little packets of peanuts, anyway! (I wonder if they still give out peanuts on planes, given the amount of kids/people with nut allergies. Be sure to report that one back to me, ok?)
ReplyDeleteI think we've travelled exactly the same emotional journey with this one, Jod. I was just equating my current feelings with those at the onset of labour.... Anyhoo - all packed and ready to meet you in the baggage queues at Tullamarine in the morning. I hope that my entourage doesn't talk the ear off you and yours.
ReplyDeletewell I've been excited for you. (could be that was easy cos I didn't have to do the work, but, you know... I'm there for you!)
ReplyDeletethat photo at the bottom needs to be a card.
WHEEEEEEE!!!!!
Jemma would have an even funnier time (from your point of view, but not hers) if she walked around wearing The Dress. she'd get mobbed.
Portland is Hipster Central, isn't it? Does she do Hipster?
Take care and have fun!
ReplyDeleteAll the very best of fun to you all...miss you already!
ReplyDeleteLady Depends?? Is that the Aussie version of Tena Lady (boring name)? I am guessing it is and I am guessing you may need lots of them. We have a great T.V. advert at the moment for a full knicker version where a lady in a tight fitting red dress wiggles and squiggles and puts her bum in lots of people's faces as she inches her way down a row of theatre or cinema seats to find her partner who is sitting in the middle and, in the process, showing everybody she has not wet herself. As soon as she sits down, her husband or whoever he is, whispers something to her and I amuse myself by trying to guess what he said.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I digress.
Have a wonderful time - I know you will and can't wait to see the photos and hear all the goss afterward. And 'bon courage' to Jemma!
Have an exceptionally wonderful time. I hope it feels like you're there forever too!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy
You go crack them up.
