Things you need to know:
Simplicity pattern
Prints charming fabric
Fully lined with cotton voile
it fits !
Things you don’t need to know but I’ll tell you anyway:
I lost the invisible zipper twice ! (It was found in the garden at one point)
The inserted zipper is in fact, more like a hard to see zipper than actually invisible
The binding is just pinned on
The lining is not completely sewn in to the zip yet
None of the dots match up and I am choosing not to care
I do not appear to be the same size as my mannequin
Well of course you lost it. It is an invisible zipper.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I'm hoping to be not the size of my mannequin too. Love the binding
ReplyDeleteDamn skinny mannequins!
ReplyDeleteLove it!!!
ReplyDeleteI appear to have that very same mannequin problem.
I would have loved to see you hunting for that invisible zip, Jod. Great skirt.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Looks like something out of a Boden catalog. I am going to have to look this pattern up!
ReplyDeleteAre any of us? Same size as our mannequin, I mean.
ReplyDeleteLOVELY!!!
ReplyDeleteI never thought dots were supposed to match. It gives the person behind you something interesting to think about. (What happened to the other half of that dot?)
ReplyDeleteSee, your 'blog-finished' is my 'finished-finished'. Whoever heard of matching-up dots?
ReplyDeleteI love, love, love the pattern and it's color. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteOh you made me laugh, especially the last photo. Your great and your skirt is fabulous, I llove it!
ReplyDeleteLooks great, you're one up on me the furthest I've gotten with a skirt is taking my measurements1
ReplyDeleteDo you suppose there is a design fault with mannequins? I have the same problem. Perhaps we caould launch a class action?
ReplyDeleteDO love your skirt - perfect for Autumn :)
Great post! I love reading your blog, it always makes me smile. The skirt looks great!!
ReplyDeleteTee Hee!! I've been wondering how one goes about padding out a mannequin to match one's body without it looking like a podgy mess (or is the last bit just me)?!?
ReplyDeleteLove your work and the fact that your slim manniquin appears to have rather glam under garments on!
ReplyDeleteOOhh. Now I want one! Really spiffy, pins still in or not. I am not the same size as my mannequin either--or I wouldn't be if I actually had mannequin, I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteVery impressive and Finn has been having some fun.
ReplyDeletehe. someone offered me a mannequin once in a size 8....your kidding me right?
ReplyDeleteYou really make me laugh! The skirt looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteCute skirt, Jodie! Those pesky zippers. Let me assure you, you are not the first person to lose an invisible zipper. Possibly they are more invisible before they are inserted than after?
ReplyDeletesee I'd spend days trying to get the spots to match and end up with no skirt, your way is better.
ReplyDeleteyour mannequin doesn't eat enough
hard to see - love it!
Jodie - that is a very cool skirt - you are already on a roll!
ReplyDeleteThought you were looking very trim there - I've been hunting a M O U S E ! eeeeek!!!
ReplyDeleteWell done - knew you would manage a skirt easy peasy!
ReplyDeleteBut it's spots! That fixes everything. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh loving the spots! I choose to ignore most "features" in my garment sewing. Perhaps that's why I don't seem to end up wearing many of them more than once. hmmmmm
ReplyDeleteI'd call that a great start to the holidays. You need to feed that mannequin.
ReplyDeleteDo any of us actually fit our manequins? I have two and neither are me....:)
ReplyDelete"of course you lost it" I love that line.
ReplyDeleteYou are too honest for your own good but its no good, I am still impressed :-)
Yeah, I'm not the same size as the mannequin in my head either. It sucks! (Love that cute polkie skirt though!)
ReplyDeleteI've allegedly got a plus sized mannequin and she is still smaller than me!
ReplyDeleteBitch!
Love your skirt. Just gorgeous!
Bahaha! Blog-finished! I love it. In that case I blog-cleaned my house this weekend.
ReplyDeleteLove the skirt, btw. And just having a lining and a hard to see zipper is two steps up on my skirts. :D
Your mannequin needs a twinky intervention!! Cheers to the girls who've got something to grab a hold of.
ReplyDeleteVery cute fabric!
ReplyDeleteIt is excellent! I bought fabric for a skirt 18+ months ago, and it is still sitting in the cupboard. And a hard to see zipper is fine, right? Who's looking?
ReplyDeleteI adore Trashs comment! Love your spots too! well done Jodie!
ReplyDeleteMy sister bought a mannequin... called in her measurements and went and picked up. Now she won't sew for herself because she can't believe she's the same size (read.. as large) as the mannequin. too funny....
