So as of tomorrow when I am "officially" back at the day job - if you would like to drop us a postcard from your town / city / territory...please address it to:
The AWESOME Library Chick (it pays to advertise, you know...the principal might collect the mail)
Black Hill Primary School
601 Chisholm street, Ballarat. Vic. 3350
Please don't write a personal message to me on it, you could just tell us what it is your town is famous for- or just leave it blank and we will do the investigating. At the end of term I will try and remember to take a photo of the pin board. At the moment we are only concentrating on Australia so please don't send any from O/S. It doesn't matter if your town is big or small, near or far...and if your town is too small to have its own postcard, why not just send us a photo.
Five hundred and twenty three children and one library chick thank you in advance.
(three office ladies roll their eyes in unison)
Love this idea! I kind of want to do this in my daughters room.... will let you know how it goes :)
ReplyDeleteCool idea. Expect a postcard from Newcastle NSW. (If I remember LOL) - Rebecca

ReplyDeleteDo they have postcards in suburbia? Wish I lived somewhere interesting for you....
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, a postcard is on its way from Albany WA. My sons' class did some thing like this with flat Stanley, they sent him to family and friends around the world and asked people to take a photo of Flat Stanley at their home. It was amazing where Flat Stanley was taken.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing the results and may even put it on my to do list for our school library
Loving this idea Jodie! Shall definitely send one your way. Peace, Tara
ReplyDeleteWhat a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteDone...! have to be a photo 'cos I think we're too small.. :o)

ReplyDeleteI love this idea, I will try to get a couple for you from the wide spread areas of my family and send them on their way.
ReplyDeleteFAB idea - I'll send mine tomorrow! Sarah xxx
ReplyDelete(PS Hope you don't mind my suggestion - it would be wonderfully marvellously fabulously fantastically brilliant if you could remove the Word Verification from comments - and I promise you won't receive spam!)
As a retired teacher, I think this is a fabulous idea. Will see if there are postcards here, or I'll do a photo...
ReplyDeleteGreat plan! When you need one from Texas, give me a shout.
ReplyDeleteI just had to pop in and say hello because I had myself a little laugh. My name is also Jodi and I crochet rag rugs! Additionally, I'm presently crocheting rolls of ... ric rac! :D You're like my Australian doppelganger. :)
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm off to find that crochet-a-long. How cool!
When you need some from Ohio let me know!
ReplyDeleteBig pouts from overseas. I wanted to send a postcard to the Hot Chick in the library. :( I'll get over it. Really, I will...someday. :( :( :(
ReplyDeleteI guess I'll go tackle the list of things that need to be done around here since no one in Australia wants to here from me.... ina
Tell the truth, you just want to receive lots of mail with awesome library chick on!!
ReplyDeleteOur card will be on its way to you soon!!
This is great! I'll post mine tomorrow. :-)
ReplyDeleteCool idea! But you havent told us if the Burser was seduced by her penguin tea towel and you got the $$$$ for books you were lusting after? The office ladies might need similar bribes if you get a flood of mail!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea ... your school kids are going to love that. Expect to get a postcard from me in Adelaide .... I just live in a suburb ... no where really interesting .... but nevertheless, a place in Australia. What a fun idea. Will be interested to see what comes of this. Do you only want people from your blog to send them or can I get some other people to send some too. My sister lives in Tassie and I can get her to send you a postcard too.
ReplyDeletep.s. Have put a message out to my friends on Facebook and hope that some of them will help you with this project .... I really hope you do well. Leonie (lottisworld)
ReplyDeletehi jodie, one ison its way from Narooma
ReplyDeleteAlready posted.
ReplyDeleteOk - I LOVE this idea. I'll get the tackiest (school appropriate - there are some bad ones from my town, as from all Aussie towns, I would guess) postcard. Perhaps I might even get the nicest postcard to send you. I think I'll get my kids to write it.
ReplyDeleteI might talk the school teacher into doing this - what an excellent idea!
Yah to the Awesome Library Chick. xxx
So sad you didn't start this up last year.
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me a post card from up the road would not be as fun. x
I'm with Kate and I, like Lotti will be putting out a message on facebook and see if we can't up the ante on the idea.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a fantastic concept!
Go the Awesome Library Chick! :)
Way cool, Jodie. Something from Launceston heading your way! I graduated as a teacher in Ballarat many years ago and spent some time at Black Hill. Launceston is very much like Ballarat , especially architecturally - one reason I like it so much.
ReplyDeleteHi Jodie!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea :)
Is it OK if I'll send you a couple of postcard from the places I visited last year (but I don't live there)? ;)
Hugs,
Tatyana
Have done one very late last night.
ReplyDeleteI take no responsibility in what I called you, my writing, spelling or grammar!!!
Love it. Some people do think NZ is part of Australia - but not yet. Love the self promotion too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! Though I have to gently remind Lyndy that Australia is generally regarded as NZ's West Island ;)
