I know you guys will get it....

Boxes are being packed, things are getting ticked off the list and it is all starting to get a wee bit exciting. A week from tomorrow I'll be setting up my stall...
I can't help but think back to last year , I had no idea what I was in for at all.

(pocket -bot kits complete with little windows so you can choose your own colour- I love packaging)

You know, it occurred to me that there is one big change this year - I feel less like a "fraud" than I did last year. It was the invitation to join Stitches and Craft last year that set me off on this whole pattern-writing thing.......and now, even though writing patterns is not my favourite thing in the world to do, I feel like I am getting OK at it...like no-one is going to point and laugh and say "OMG what are you doing here?" - "what is this crap?"
Does that make sense?

At this point it about 50/50 excitement and stress (good stress) but as time moves on the excitement will take over for sure. And of course, because I am so busy , the old brain is once again having trouble shutting off and I am being haunted by a new softie and fun tutorial...and of course Milligan is still waiting patiently...

and after the show......yes I'm sure you guys are getting sick of all this show talk - well, there's Sew- it-Together, followed by a weekend at Sewjourn.....

Beware exploding heads!!

  3. Oh, I get it OK! My brain is going a million miles an hour these days, and even after making the same boring two bags for 2 years, I'm finally making some new styles, just three weeks away from a market. What the heck?!?

You're a superstar, Jodie, and a really lovely one at that. I'm sorry I won't get to the show this year to see you again, but maybe one day soon!

  16. honestly, even without the pattern writing thing, you're be a great asset to the show, what with the fabulous tutorials, incredibly creative ideas and brilliant story telling. I certainly don't see a fraud!

  18. Loving those boxes, how snazzy. It must be a great feeling going into the next few weeks with a lot more experience under your belt, and a sense of what to expect. Your work is so appealing, unexpected, colourful & charming that I'm sure it, & you, will again be a big hit. Have fun honey, I hope to see you at one of the three events, happy days Jod! xo

  20. You are SO the real thing. I wish I was a thirty-twoth the 'fraud' you are. Talent not the only requirement, hard work has a lot to do with it and you have been working VERY hard. I hope you enjoy every minute.

Have you a list for yourself for show days? Food, water, plasters!

That packaging is so good, makes me want cake. And to go the show. I keep telling my physicist friend to get a move on inventing a Transporter for me.

BTW did you and Milligan get that SandraBoynton link I emailed you?

    Cheers,
    AJ

  21. By the looks of your preparations, you give a very good impression of calm unflustered organisation :o)

As you know I was planning to be there this time but first the silly ash cloud and now, of course, all the flights are solidly booked with ash-cloud-delayed Aussies desperate to get home.....if it weren't for all that I really would have been there.....honest...tsk, maybe next time...

Good luck boss and I hope you can retire on your profits!

Those packages look great, and did I spy some purple felt? Pretty please save a purple package for me.

Have fun at the show - I hope you have enough stock to keep everyone happy! :-)

  27. A touch of anxiety seems to be a common trait amongst sewers. I'm sure you'll have a ball!

  28. My goodness, you're organised!

I'm just a little bit panic-struck here. Just kind of hoping that some sort of miracle occurs to make me organised in time for the show!

  32. Jod, please don't explode. I like you the way you are - all in one piece and stuff. Hey, can you please tell me where i can buy tickets to Stitches? I can't see any info about that on the website. Am I just blind?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well of course bots are wonderful, but don't forget to take LOTS of dolly patterns, and as many samples as you can manage so people can see how adorable they are. And elephants, and turtles, and mice, and hedgehogs - oh, you are clever, Jodie! By next year's show maybe our favorite librarian will have her own book out; stories, patterns, and a tea party!

  40. It spins me out that YOU would remotely question your validity to be included in a show like Stitches and Craft. I think you are the most original, entertaining, fantastic and inspirational crafter in blogland. xo
