Calm blue ocean

It is freakingly hot here in my world and the air conditioner has broken.

Icypoles have become their own food group and may be eaten in replacement of any meal including breakfast.

There is no sleep to be had and the cracks are appearing. The hairy folk are stressed and both the costume wearing tourist attraction working ricrac kids have all but imploded.

Apparently we have a few more days like this.....

If you look really really closely you can just about see the end of my tether......

  5. Wet sheets and towels in front of the fan. Wet towels on the bathroom floor for the fur folk. Sleeping in the bath is acceptable when you are holidaying in hell!!!

  6. Oh Jod, you could have come spent the day with me at home today! Tomorrow you could come and keep us company in our air conditioned office…bring some sewing, it's cool inside, we need to firm up some dates anyway so there's your reason…..xxx

  8. I hope you are enjoying the sound and light show this evening, Jodie. We have thrown open all external doors and windows in an attempt to catch any breeze. We don't have any airconditioning in this house, so it can't break down. We do have ceiling fans - one in the living room and one each in the three occupied bedrooms. Help keep you cool when you get a bit sweaty.
I know what you mean about tethers. We close up the house in the morning to attempt to contain any coolness we might pick up overnight. However, by the middle of the afternoon we are beginning to lose. I am looking forward to the promised cool change that has the 8 degree overnight temperature.

  10. My kids are I think slightly surprised to hear me say yes every time they request an iced confectionery. But it is the only way to survive a Heatwave without aircon. I really need a spray bottle too.

  11. When it's freaking hot here Abby and I share Popsicles! I love the word Icy Poles! I have found when the a/c is working standing over it while wearing a skirt is very refreshing! But no a/c??? I'd be flying around on my broom.

  14. Yikes! Go to the mall and stake out a corner for with a plug for your sewing machine. Wouldn't that be a sight -- sewing in public!!! Stay Cool -- wish I could send you some snow from the Arctic Vortex!

  15. It's hot up here in the hills as well and my farmers are shearing sheep! I suggest you run a nice deep tepid bath and lie in it reading "The Long Winter" while eating lemonade icy poles.

  16. There has been a lot of naked splashing in the paddling pool at our place (the kids, not me! :-P ) since we don't have AC to keep us cool! Even the hairy member of our family is being indulged with ice lollies in an attempt to stave off the heat! Nothing quite so classy as sitting with the dog in a plastic kiddy pool under the patio, sharing ice lollies while your kids run butt naked around the yard! And people wonder why I hate Aussie summers!
