I seem to know a lot of people who write books. I watch them go through the whole process. It appears to be very stressful. Of course, being me I can't help but jump in and say "hey I'll help promote your book when it is out". I'd love to join your blog hop, sew along, book circus.
Of course, fast forward to the books release and I am quietly shitting myself that there won't be anything in the book easy enough for me to sew, I will make a dog's breakfast of it, people will laugh at me, I will humiliate my friend, lose a friend and die alone in a bedsit talking to my canary.
Luckily for me, my friendship, and the aforementioned imaginary canary Jemima's new book is actually just as it states. You guys all know Jemima from Tied with a Ribbon. She is one of the funnest people I know, she is a rockstar dancer and pretty good with a hula-hoop as I learnt at quilt market in St Louis.
Weekend Quilting has simple beautiful designs that most people really could sew in a weekend.

I told Jemima I would make the easiest thing in the book which I promptly did. I sent Jemima a gushing message shortly afterwards - along the lines of ... OMG I actually understood that first go !!! Jemima's instructions are super clear and the book is a pleasure to read.
This resulted in two surprises.
This resulted in two surprises.
1. I actually quite enjoyed making this cushion. It came together quickly and I didn't need to fudge it. I even did the quilty bit (yea I may have marked the lines with the back of a bread and butter knife but I like to think of that as a Macgyver life-skill).
2. Cushions are bastards of things to take photos of. They have no internal fortitude. The corners stick out all funny and the bit on the bottom disappears.
I received and eBook version of Jemima's book so I can't share any of the inside photos with you but you can go and check out some of the previous posts in the blog hop to see the super-cute things people have been making or you can join in on Instagram too.
I hope you are feeling chuffed Jemima, you deserve to. It is fantastic !!
